Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Sitting in his office, his eyes were analysing a document sent by one of his colleagues. Narrowing as he focused his grey eyes on a specific piece of information when his thick lashes moved down and his attention was driven to a call as he picked it up and raised his cell phone to his ear.
It was a black-berry. Specified for his urgent calls or any high-profile detail related to under-world.
"Ali Ahmed-194 reporting from cc dept,"
"Say," he asked.
"The FBI is after you sir,"
"Confirm?"
"Yes sir. In order to locate the spy they already sent to you who had gone missing,"
"Male, female?
"No info known regarding that. They want to dug in the information of your other businesses that you do under the name of this company,"
"Fine. Who is the head of this mission?"
"It was the minister that was killed by Shigri. The agency now assigned this task to person unknown,"
"Hence this mission has been going on since a while," his brows rose with a little smirk on his lips.
"Yes sir. And after that boy Rafay had gone missing followed by the police officer, they're joining the links and gather enough evidence to put you behind bars. Soon they would try to sabotage you too,"
"Okay. I'll look into that," he hung up and his face was as stoic as it was before. No signs of anxiousness evident on his face and his attention was back on the document that he had been reading.
Once he was done, on the cue he received a call from Irtaza, his elder brother.
"Hello," Irtaza spoke from the other side.
"Hello, brother,"
"Aren't you coming at my marriage?"
"How can I miss that,"
"Better be that way,"
"You're still marrying Zahra despite what she did,"
"Love is not in my control,"
"Foolish is love and more foolish are lovers,"
As a response he received a chuckle.
"I'm aware of your theories,"
"You should believe them too,"
"Some day, maybe,"
"FBI is after my company,"
"Just received this news. What's the plan?"
"Will tell you when we'll meet. For now," his eyes checked the clock as he continued speaking, "I'm waiting for my special someone,"
"Best of luck to her," he chuckled when they talked a bit more and the call was hung.
The time was now 6 and she still didn't come to his office so he picked up intercom and connected to the phone in her room but it wasn't answered.
That made him frown.
He walked up to her office only to found it empty.
A frown creased his brows. She left the office without his permission. And the thought alone fueled his rage.
.......
"I'm late, Hannan. I'm late! He asked me to come to his office at 6,"
She felt her heart thumping.
"I'm going," she dashed out of the cafe without waiting for him. He paid the bill and rushed after her who was now trying to cross the road in a hurry when he quickly approached her.
"Are you mad?!" he asked, as a car was about to hit her.
"Hannan I've to go," she said hysterically looking left and right waiting for the cars to stop or give her some space.
"Hold my hand. I'll help you cross the road," he forwarded his hand and she looked at him and then at his hand before placing hers in him as he helped her cross the road. The sky was already blue indicating the sun was down.
She reached the building and sprinted across the corridor, entered the lift and violently striked at the buttons.
Her legs slightly shivering.
"Relax, he won't do anything. Relax," he tried to calm her but she kept on looking at the time on her phone and then at the door of the lift.
"Please be quick," she muttered under her breath, when the doors opened and she shoot towards her office before saying her goodbyes to Hannan.
She tried to calm herself down by drinking water and sprinting here and there for few moments. It was 6:30 already and her nerves weren't getting in her control. She was so tensed.
Sweat beads already formed on her forehead. Taking a deep breath, she gathered every ounce of courage in her and walked towards his office. She knew if she delayed it more then he would become more angry at her. On her way she took the timetable that Hamna gave her as an evidence that she had been working on it so atleast it could save it from him for time being.
She knocked on the door before entering and found him already looking at her with those pinning eyes and a pen swirling between his fingers.
"You were calling....sir,"
"Close the door and come forward," he demanded making all the life rush out of her legs.
She swallowed before closing the door and moving towards his desk. Her heart in her mouth.
Her eyes trying to gauge out any emotion on his face as to deduce was he angry or not but he had a blank face. Void of any emotions. So were his eyes. Plain, just staring at her. With that pen swirling between his fingers, he kept on staring at her as she approached his desk and stood infront of it.
"I'm sorry. I'm late. I wa-"
"Not there, come here, next to me,"
She began to shake but noticing his death stare on her, she forced her legs to move and came closer to him.
"Where have you been?" he asked rounding his hair towards her as now she stood next to his chair.
"I-I," she quickly forwarded the time-table towards him, "I wasn't paying attention on time," Her voice got composed as she skillfully tried to hide the wavering of her voice and it worked. She knew if her voice manifested the wavering of her heart, it would be over for her. She had to control her nerves or else he would figure out her lie, "and also I was working on you time ta-ta-table," she slightly stuttered at the end when he moved to fix his position on the chair.
"Show," he commanded and she forwarded the file towards him when he pointed through his eyes to place it on table. As she was putting his command in action, he retrieved a cigaratte from the box in one of his drawers and lit it up.
His void eyes analysing when the other end was burned enough that's when he pulled away the lighter and placed the cigaratte between his lips.
She gulped hard on noticing the aura that came off of him. He screamed danger, especially his eyes and the stare he had been giving her. Her limbs shivered and oblivious to her ownself she didn't now when she took a step back.
He stood up to his tall height and when he did that, her breath hitched in her throat and her eyes that had been prior connected with his moved down towards the floor when his black show came in vision.
"Open your mouth," he lowly said and out of surprise she looked up back at him.
"Huh?"
"Open your mouth," he reiterated, his eyes going a shade darker as a puff of smoke blew out of his lips.
