Chapter 14: Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Henley

Few hours later and I was outside, reading my favorite romance book. 'The King's Raw Obsession.'

It was lovely. At the beginning the king hated the girl whose parent killed his but then as time flew by... the hate had began to turn to something more deeper and sweeter.

I giggled like a child when the kiss scene was coming quickly.

"That's nice. You reading something sweet again?"

"Stop it Finny, this books are awesome. Why have a library with so many books if you're not going to read them? You all are weird." I muttered, flipping the pages.

"The library is for people like you. Guests who come and go. At some point they would want to read and then boom..the library comes in. Who has the time to read about some freaky love story." Finny rolled his eyes as he took a seat close to me.

Thank God, I had changed my little blue skirt. That skirt had done a lot!

"What is it?" I asked, seeing his expression.

Trying to say something but it wasn't coming out.

"Will you go to the city with me?" He asked and I shook my head.

"No, thank you." There was no way I'd go to the city again after what happened.

I'd rather stay here reading all the books in the library than go out to get another heart attack. My poor little heart had suffered a lot.

"Nothing will happen. That shit will not happen again. We're just going to have fun...you know, make your heart whole and full again." He flashed a smile but I rolled my eyes.

"It isn't half in the first place for too to make it full. I'm perfectly fine Finny and I don't want to die now." I said and he shook his head.

"Wow! I was thinking about dropping off at Thirst Ranch but it's okay. We can go next time." He said and my eyes bursted out of its socket.

We were going to Thirst Ranch?

That was like down down down town.

That was like leaving the city to Paloma.

Although Paloma was also a beautiful and wealthy place...that was far from the main wealthy city of New York.

"Are you coming or not?' He asked again, smirking... knowing he got me.

I glared at him.

"Let me go change." I replied and his smile widened.

"I knew that would do the trick."

"You've become a naughty boy Finny." I said for him to laugh.

"When was I even good?"

Hurrying to my room, I changed into a black jeans trouser and a black hoodie.

I grabbed my phone and hurried out.

I missed Christine, although I wasn't that friendly with Diego, I missed him as well. Along with Ryan and his glasses that never fit into his small face and eyes.

"Well that would do." Finn said as I rushed down the stairs.

"It will do. I know I won't even be able to talk with them just see them." I said rolling my eyes.

He looked up at me, shocked that I knew that.

"I was just about to tell you that." He said and I shrugged.

"Well, hold your peace then cause I've gotten it all covered, right mate?" I walked to the car and got in.

Seeing them would be nice. By now, they would be looking for me and sending calls to Philadelphia and all.

Finn got into the car as well.

"They are fine and they're not looking for you. Sandro send something over."

"What did he send?" I asked, curiosity washed over me.

What the hell did that jerk send for them to not look for me? Was it money?

"It wasn't money but he talked to Ryan about it." I nodded.

Thank God! It wasn't money!

"Okay." I mumbled and he started the car.

We drove out of the Mansion and headed for Thirst Ranch.

It was a journey that was supposed to take hours if using a bus but because it was Finn and his sports car, we were already close.

I sighed, breathing in the air or Paloma.

The little town that drained the life out of me, but the same town that brought colours to my life.

Oh! How time flies.

"Happy to be here again?" Finn asked and I nodded.

"Nice to be home."

"I wouldn't call that piece of apartment home, Henley." He said, shaking his head.

"Have you been there?" I asked, wondering how he got to know how it was.

"Yes, when we went there to retrieve somethings for you but didn't fine a damn thing to bring. Nothing there worth it. I'm not trying to make you feel bad but I would never go back to that life again Henley." Finn said.

As bad as he made it seem, it didn't affect me. Maybe because he was just looking out for me.

"It was worth it, you know."

"Come one Henley, It wasn't. You think I don't know that you save every bit of your money for that god-damned idiot of a brother? You save everything for the day you see him...and you live your life as of you're in debt." He said, pulling off by the road side..

Thirst Ranch was boldly written on the road board with Christmas lights on it.

"Here we are." He mumbled and reached for the door.

"You're a jerk, you know that right?" I glared at him, opening the door and stepping out.

"We're not going there Henley, just look at your little family and we'll head to another place that delivers deliciouso." Finn said, and I smiled.

I was really grateful to Finn. If anyone would betray, it was definitely not him. He was like a little brother to me.

Sometimes I even forget that he's older than me.

"Are you happy?" He asked, and I nodded.

It was break time and the door was closed.

I could see Christine drinking something from her glass as she leaned on the counter talking to Diego and they were laughing.

Ryan was with a lady. He was always with a lady!

Everyone was happy.

"Let's go eat." I mumbled, opening the door and getting in.

I turned to the window and I could swear I saw Christine staring at my side.

Did she see me?

"She saw you but I don't think she'd even believe it was you, but I think she's thinking about it. Is she your best friend?" Finn asked.

I sighed.

She did see me and I know she was going to throw a fit if she knew I actually came there with a handsome guy and a brand new car.

Wait! That didn't even count.

If Sandro had actually gone to meet Ryan, then she was really going to roast me.. asking me things about Sandro and why I've not been able to pick up my calls.

Knowing who Christine was, my old phone would be filled up with millions of calls.

"Yes, she's my best friend."

"I can see it. She's still looking." Finn laughed and ignited the engine of the car.

We moved away from the place and headed to where we could find something deliciouso.

Christine was sure to bury me alive!
