"We need to take her to the hospital. She's losing so much blood" Alex complained as Elena glared at him.

"I don't care. She's better off dead anyway" Elena said.

"Elena don't say that! She's still your mom no matter what she did, don't do what you would live to regret because of anger" Laura said finding sense in what Alex said.

"Sorry, my mom died the moment I found out she was the killer" Elena snarled at them.

"Can we get to hear the story, please? It seems she is going pass out any moment from now" Sarah said as she sat on the ground. She was tired of standing and so was everyone as they perched somewhere to seat, except Elena, she kept standing as she pointed the gun at her mom. Ain't easy to be trained by a Sheriff huh?

After her mom's explanations on how she carried out her operations, Elena thinks her mom was one dangerous animal that should be watched closely.

"Come on kids, no one is talking about me and I am badly bleeding," Mayor said as he struggled with the leg Ruth shot.

"Just shut the fuck up and let her speak!" Elena ordered as they all darted their gaze towards Ruth who was breathing heavily now.

"When Fedrick returned from London..."

FLASHBACK

"Have you seen the Mayor's son? He's back from London" Ruth said to Emily excitedly as she scoffs.

"What is so special about Frederick? I do not like that guy" she said.

"Hey! Why don't you like him? Has he done anything to you?"

"Not really, I just think he is pompous because the mantle of mayorship is in his family," Emily told her best friend Ruth who shrugged.

"How do you know that? I thought he just returned?"

"I know what I am saying and I do not like him. You need to know this. I am telling you this because you are my friend, you can not tell anyone, understood?"

"Of course not! Who would I tell? You are my closest friend Emily" Emily smiled and nodded.

"Good, I heard my dad discussing with some other council members. My grandpa helped his grandpa to be the mayor and that was how the mantle is in his family" Emily said as Ruth packed her books.

"He said they were the founding fathers of Mystic Hollow"

"Oh really? If your grandpa was so influential, why did he not take the mantle? Why did he give it to the Bellos?" Ruth asked Emily with arched her brow.

"I don't know, that is their issue, not mine," Emily said and stopped and when she remembered something.

"Guess what?" Emily asked her who raised her brow at her.

"What?" She asked as Emily smiled and whispered something to her ear.

"I do not think that is true. How would you say Frederick likes me? And how did you know?" Ruth asked as Emily smiled.

"When he returned, I went to their house with my dad. We talked and he still hasn't forgotten about you" Emily said as Ruth laughed.

"Yh, I remember we do fight constantly when we were still little," Ruth said.

"Don't mind him. He was just crushing on you " Emily said as Ruth rolled her eyes.

"Whatever. I have to go home now. Are you coming too?" Ruth asked as she shook her head sideways.

"Nope. I have to see the Physics Lecturer. I don't know why he said he wants to see me" Emily said.

"Ok, should I wait for you?" Ruth asked her as she shook her head.

"I think we are going to take a long time" Emily replied as Ruth shrugged.

"Do not forget, Federick is arrogant, he is not good for you"

"Hey! Come on. I think we should get to know people before we judge them. Jumping into conclusions--"

"You do not know Federick more than I do. He is bad. Very bad. You should stay away from him. I know what I am saying"

"You know what? You do not like Federick, I do not like him too," Ruth stated.

"Yh, he's no good. Since he is crushing on you, I would advise that you do not give him a chance" Emily said.

"Emily Brohms?" A man called as they both darted their gazes towards him.

"Yes, sire," Emily said as she smiled at Ruth.

"I have to go now. That is the Physics teacher I was waiting for," Emily said as she packed her books and walked towards the lecturer while Ruth waved at her.

Ruth walked home alone as she thought of what Emily said.

"Wait wait wait! Are you trying to say you guys were friends?" Sarah asked unbelievably as Peter stared at them dumbfounded.

"We were not just friends. We were best friends. We knew each other's secrets" Ruth said as Emily scoffed.

"And right now we are more like frenemies and trust me, you thought you knew my secrets but I never told you anything about me. You were just the little foolish one telling me yours" Emily spat out.

"You are always like this. You will never change for good" Frederick barked at her as the memories began to come.

"No arguments please," Laura said.

"What did I say about no talking until you are permitted to do so? " Elena barked at them.

"You think I can not put a slug through your heart? Do you think I can not? How about we give it a try?"

"When are you guys going to untie me huh? I have got nothing to do with all this bullshit" Liam said struggling with the rope.

"Just shut the fuck up!" Peter yelled at him as they both glared at each other.

"Just wait a sec Liam, I am coming to you." She turned to her mom who was almost hallucinating.

"So what happened next?" Elena asked her mom who sniffed.

"After that day, the next week. Frederick was enrolled in Mystic Hollow High school, and he sat next to me when the physics lecturer assigned us on projects to do.... "

FLASHBACK

"Hi, I'm Frederick Bellos and... "

"I know. And I'm obviously not interested. As you can see, I'm trying to listen to some lecture here" Ruth said sternly as he smiled.

"She's a tough one huh?" He muttered to himself as Ruth paid keen attention to the class.

"Hey, pretty! Are you always rude?"

"Will you just leave me alone, please? You are distracting me" she said almost in a whisper in order not to disturb the class.

"Well, if you respond to me, I will let you be" he smirked.

"What are you even doing here? I thought you were schooling in London" she asked folding her arms.

"Well," he rubbed his palms against each other and smiled.

"I will soon be the Mayor of this town, I have to come and learn how the town is ruled by my father." His smile broadened as she gave him a horrid look.

"Such a show-off! It is true after all" she rolled her eyes.

"Miss Gilbert, do you have something to share with the class?" Their teacher called out to her and she flinched.

"Oh My God! I am sorry sir. Nothing at all"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes sir. Of-- course" she stuttered.

"I was asking Miss Gilbert a question I was not clear about," Federick said.

"Is that so?" Ruth was surprised as she glanced over to Federick who winked at her.

"Yes sir. That's right"

"Ok, that is acceptable but do not disturb the class. If you have a question, you can ask me. That is why I am here" he told Federick who nodded.

"So, did she answer your questions?"

"Yes sir, she did perfectly" the smug smile curled around his lips. The teacher continued what he was saying besides the interruption.

"...And for the projects, you all would be grouped in twos. Look at this paper I am holding, it contains your names. In it, you would find your project mate. Goodluck to all of you," he said and called on Emily to come to take the paper which she did.

She called the names alongside their groupmate and Frederick happened to be Ruth's teammate.

"How the hell did you get on that list? You are just coming to this school today" Ruth said turning to her.

"Being the Mayor's son, things are quite easy for me" Frederick said with a smirk as she frowned at him

"And your last name is Bellos and mine is Gilbert. You are supposed to be a teammate with Emily Brohms, not me" Ruth said folding her arms.

"Like I said earlier. Things are quite easy for me. I am the Mayor's only son" Frederick said again as she huffed.

"Will you just skip reminding me that your father is the Mayor? Everyone knows that you do not have to keep announcing it"

"What's going on here?" Emily asked walking to their seat.

"Why don't you ask this peacock?!" Ruth said and stormed out of the class with her bag as Emily stared at Frederick.

"It is obvious she does not like you. Why don't you leave her alone? Don't you have pride?" Emily asked as he smirked.

"I do not know what you are talking about" he was about to leave as she held his arm.

"Take a look at the girls groveling at your feet. Why must it be someone that does not see your value?"

"I don't care. I like girls that are hard to get" Frederick said.

"So you don't like the ones that are ready to willingly give themselves to you?" Emily asked placing her feet on the desk, revealing her laps.

Frederick smiled at this and shook his head.

"I have told you before. It is Ruth I like and nothing can change that. And girls that would willingly give themselves to me. I term them as cheap, it is no fun" Frederick said and stood up, pushing her foot down.

"Hmm. you manipulated the list so you would be a teammate with her? You know by right we were supposed to be teammates" Emily said.

"You don't question me, young lady".

"And you do not talk to me in that manner. Don't forget, my grandpa helped yours to become the Mayor, show some respect to his descendants at least" with that, Emily walked away as he kept grinning.

"Full of drama," he said.

"And how did you know that was what happened? You were not there in the scene" Elena said to her mom.

"When we started dating. Frederick told me about my best friend. But I did not listen. I thought he just hated her. I never knew they were more to it" Ruth said.

"You guys dated?" Peter asked as he averted his gaze to Frederick and Emily who faced down.

"Why don't you listen to how it all happened?" Ruth asked.

"Yh, she's right. Let's listen" Laura said as Elena nodded.

FLASHBACK (GILBERT'S MANSION.

RUTH'S ROOM)

Ruth and Emily lay on her bed as they talked about guys they have crushed on all their lives.

"Have you ever crushed on Frederick?" Ruth asked as Emily's eyes bulged.

"What? me? No! Of course not. How will I crush on him? I hate him. That guy is an arrogant jerk"

"Why do you ask such a question?"

"I do not know, I saw the both of you talking after our physics class."

"Oh, you saw that? I was just- Never mind, so... Tell me, what about you? Have you ever crushed on him?" Emily asked sitting down, to change the conversation.

"I do not like him. since you told me he has pride and also a pervert, I disliked him from that day," Ruth said and shrug.

"But if you hate him, why would you whisper to me that he had a crush on me? And you know I hate him now too" Ruth asked.

"Ahhh, I wanted you to know what was coming your way. I do not want him to take you unaware. You know after you left, I told him to leave you alone. He said he would not rest until he take advantage of you. He even said he would make sure he made you one of his conquest" Emily said as she frowned then her phone starts to ring and the number was strange to her phone.

"Who is that?"

"I do not know"

She exchanged glances with Emily as she took the call.

## "Hello?" She said.

## "Hi Ruth, how are you doing?"

## "I am fine, how are you too?".

#" I am doing well dear" there was a brief silence.

#"Please, may I know who I'm speaking with?" Ruth asked.

## "Oh, forgive my manners." He was stupid and spoke again.

" It is the Mayor's son. And I wanted to...

## "How the hell did you get my number?" Ruth barked at him.

##" hey! calm down. Come on, I was enjoying the cool conversation we were having like normal human beings. I do not know why you always flare up when I try to talk to you" she rolled her eyes as Emily gave her a thumbs up.

#"So, what do you want from me?"

#"Well, I Just wanted to tell you to come over. Let's discuss the science project" He said.

## "Why would I do that? I think you should come over instead, I am not coming to your house!" Ruth barked at him as Emily smiled.

"That's my girl" she muttered under her breath.

## "Listen to me, you know your dad is not at home? He is a busy Sheriff and your mom would probably be at work. What if I rape you at home huh? Just think before saying. Come over to my place where my parents are around and there are maids and guards too" Frederick said as Ruth found truth in his word.

"Tell him you're not coming!" Emily said to Ruth.

##" Ok, I've heard. I'm coming" Ruth said and ended the call.

"What was that for?" Emily asked.

"What? We have to talk about the science project" Ruth said.

"I think you are beginning to fall for his tricks, I said it," Emily said.

"Of course not. That can't happen, I just have to do the project" Ruth said as Emily frowned.

"I think I would be going home now. My mom would be worried sick" Emily said and stood up. Without allowing her to say a word, she left the room leaving just Ruth and her thoughts.

"So that day, I went to their house and he introduced me to his mother. His mother said I looked like my dad, Sheriff Gilbert, and asked if I would be glad to serve Mystic Hollow as the sheriff and I said yes. When I got to their mini library, we both researched what we were to do in the science project and we both concluded it would be a mini time machine. We talked at length and then, I found out he wasn't as bad as Emily painted him. He was just some guy that loves being the Mayor's son. It was really difficult for him to keep a friendly conversation with me because I was always yelling at him but he never gave up till he won my friendship" Ruth said.

"So you were so naive enough to believe everything she told you? And even kept this from me?" Frederick said to Ruth.

"Why wouldn't I believe huh? She was my best friend and her grandpa was close to yours" Ruth said.

"Hey hey hey. That's enough. You and Emily will have turns to talk. For now. Let's listen to her" Peter said as Ruth continued. ( This story is written by Naomi Innocent)

"We became friends and he promised not to be a peacock anymore. Before the end of the project, we were dating already and our parents knew about it. I tried talking to Emily about how nice Frederick really was. She wouldn't listen. She said she can never be friends with him. We did the science project and we came out first. One evening, we walked down the woods, sightseeing and we saw this cottage. It was filled with grasses and insects. We both decided to make it our love nest, so we cleaned it up and it was really beautiful. We came here almost every day and he asked me not to tell Emily about our love nest. I never knew why. Most of the days we come here, we do have sex and fun. We even planned on raising our kids here because the cottage is isolated and close to Mystic Hollow Waterfall. If you go to the back and walk down for 3 hours. You would get to Mystic Hollow waterfall" she said and stopped as she tried to catch her breath.

"The last day we had sex here...

FLASHBACK (AT THE COTTAGE)

They were both on a duvet as he caressed her back.

"I don't want us to ever separate," Frederick said as Ruth smiled.

"Me too, I love you very much"

"And I love you more" he replied and kissed her forehead.

"I want us to build a big-time machine. The one that could take us to anywhere we want and the year too" Frederick said.

"Why? You want us to elope?" Ruth asked as he nodded.

"But why?" She said sitting up on the duvet.

"I don't know. In case anything happens. What If they do not approve of us?" Frederick asked looking elsewhere.

"But your mom likes me. Or are you hiding something from me?" She asked as he breathed down.

"Of course not," he said as he tried to kiss her but she didn't allow him.

"Come on, you have to trust me," he said smirking as he patted her back.

Her phone started ringing as she took her phone and saw it was a call from Emily and Federick saw it too.

"Do not take the call, let it ring" he said and took the phone from her as she sat up.

"Give me back my phone," she said as the phone kept ringing.

"No," he said bluntly

"What is wrong with you? What do you think you are doing?" She was not finding it funny anymore?

"Did I not warn you to stay away from Emily? That girl is no good"

"Who do you think you are? We just started dating and you are asking me to stay away from my best friend?"

"You do not understand. That girl is no good for you. She is evil. Do not say I did not warn you" the phone started ringing again as she glared at him.

"Give that to me"

"I am going to help you think if you can not use that brain of yours"

"Frederick! What is wrong with you?" She grabbed the phone from him, but the call had ended already.

"You came into my life and you think you can change everything about my life? Emily is my friend, and I do not care if you do not like her or not. That is between the both of you, do not get me involved in it" she yelled.

"If only you know what your so-called friend d--" the ringing of her phone interrupted him as she took the call.

#"Hi, Emily".

#"I have been calling your phone for ages"

#"Oh, sorry. I was not with it" she lied.

#" Or are you with Frederick?"

#"Oh yes! How did you know that?"

#"I have been calling his cellphone for ages but he is not responding"

#"Oh," Ruth said and glanced at Frederick who was watching her at close range.

#"Where are you guys? I have been to his house and I just left your home" Emily said.

#"Oh, but why are you looking for Frederick?" He folded his arms and watched her.

#"Oh, he-- uhmm-- he had my--" she cleared her throat.

#"He is with my textbook. I have to retrieve it, I left a piece of paper in that book and I have to make use of it"

#"Ok, I will tell him--"

#"Where are you guys?" Emily cut her speech before she could finish.

#"We are at a cot--" Frederick took the phone from her before she could complete her talk. He quickly ended the call as she gave him a horrid look.

"What Is wrong with you? What do you do that for?

"She is lying. I am not with her textbook. She has been pestering my life" he said as the phone started ringing and he switched it off immediately.

"I do not know what is going on between you and Emily. But just know that I am not happy at all and you both should not drag me into it. I am sick and tired of the both of you" she picked up her clothes and started dressing up as he stared at her nude body.
