"Oh my God! Bonnie!" Peter said with gritted teeth as Sophia kept screaming.

"I didn't know. I just felt like throwing up" she said and hiccuped again.

"And you decided to puke on someone?" He scolded bringing out his wallet. He took some money and dropped it on the table as he grabbed her arm.

"Excuse me, pardon me. Please excuse me.. " he said as he walked through the people standing and watching as Sophia yelled at no one in particular.

They finally got outside the restaurant, he gave her a stern look as she smiled at him.

"Stop doing that! Just stop!" He yelled at her as she became sober.

"Are you mad at me Peter?" She asked while sobbing making him stood akimbo.

"Yes! I'm mad at you. So mad!" He yelled at her.

"I'm sorry. Please don't be mad at me. I'm sorry" she apologized while bowing her head as he looked elsewhere.

He squatted before her and held her chin up so her eyes would meet his gaze.

"Listen to me Bonn--"

He didn't finish his speech as a gunshot was heard from inside the restaurant.

They were screaming and shouts as people ran about the place with most of them running out of the restaurant.

They were both taken aback as their attention was adverted towards the restaurant.

"Let's get out of here," he said picking her up as he walked to the roadside to hail a cab.

The blaring of a siren was heard as Police vans trouped the place.

A cab stopped at their front as they entered and the driver ignited his engine.

"Another killing aye?" The driver said.

"It's not a new thing in Mystic Hollow," Peter said.

"You're right pal. The people are happy that the Mayor's daughter has gotten her piece of cake" he gave a laugh that Bonnie felt sick at.

They stopped at Bennett's building and paid the cab driver before alighting.

"Are you scared?' He asked Bonnie who shook her head sideways.

"I'm used to the homicides in Mystic Hollow already. Just that I fear for the worse for this town now Sarah's dead" Bonnie said as they both walked inside the building.

"Peter's not taking his call. I'm scared" Elena said as she threw her phone on the couch before walking about the room.

"Bonnie! Peter!" Laura screamed racing to hug them.

"Ok, this is new. What's going on?' She asked eyeing the trio seriously.

"It's the rumor. There was a recent killing at a restaurant and we don't know the restaurant you both went to. So we were scared" Alex said.

"It's not a rumor, it's true. It's the restaurant we went to. But we were outside before the killing occurred. Just that, we don't know who was killed" Peter said staring at them.

Elena walked up to the TV and switched it on and the live news was going on already.

"Oh my God" Bonnie said looking up at Peter.

"It's the waitress that attended to us," Peter said looking at Elena and Laura.

"I thought the killer was into children. Why killing adults now?" Alex asked as Elena switched off the news.

"I don't know. This is just complicated" Elena said walking to the couch as she held her head which was pounding.

"With Sarah dead, Mystic Hollow would record more deaths than ever," Laura said staring into space.

"Thanks to Logan who killed her. If only he didn't leave the town. I would have ended him too" Peter stated.

"Has it been confirmed that Logan killed her?' Laura asked out of curiosity.

"My mom said she saw a picture of Sarah in Logan's house. And he wasn't at home. They called the train station and went there to ask for the manifesto of people that left the city the day Sarah died. Logan's name was there, he left the city by 8 PM and Sarah died that evening. If he wasn't responsible, why did he leave the city that late? What was the hurry that he couldn't wait till the next day? If Logan wants to kill, he would have killed anyone not Sarah, maybe he knows something about the killings. Remember he fought with the mayor and the next day he was the target. And why would he kill Sarah, the mayor's daughter If he wasn't trying to take out his revenge?" Elena pointed out.

"Since we know the Mayor have a hand in all these. Why don't we just attack him?" Laura asked.

"We can't just do that, remember some of the Police officers know he is behind all these but just decided to lay low. We have no proof and we can't just accuse him like that" Alex said as Elena nodded.

"He's right. We can't just accuse him without proof. Remember he is the Mayor and can twist the law to his favor" Elena noted.

"I'm scared," Bonnie said staring at them all as Elena swallowed hard.

She drew her close to herself as she cuddled her.

"Together, we are strong" Elena assured her as they stared at each other, not knowing their fates.

THE NEXT MORNING

Alex packed Bonnie's lunch box after their dad left for work.

She walked to the fridge and took a cold bottle of soda, she dipped a straw inside and started sucking.

"Give that to me. You can't drink that, it's too early" Alex said to her with a stern look.

"Sorry, it's too late," she said as he grabbed her hands and they left the house.

They walked in silence till they got to Bonnie's school.

"Hey! Elena!" Bonnie waved at her as Elena smiled. She was about to enter their school building before Bonnie spotted her.

Elena walked up to them as she patted her on her head.

"Isn't it too early to be drinking Soda?" Elena asked smiling as Bonnie shrugged.

"Hi Alex," she said to him.

"Hi" he replied as Bryan walked up to them holding Rose by the hand.

"I have to go," Elena said walking away as Bryan held her hand back.

"Will you leave me alone please?" She said to him as he gave Alex a look that indicated "can you give us some privacy please?"

Alex got the message and frowned at him because he never liked him.

"I'll meet you in class Elena. Bye Bonnie" he said glaring at Bryan as he walked away.

"Rose, you can go in now," he said to his sister who nodded and walked inside the building.

Bonnie still stood in their middle drinking her soda.

"Hello, excuse me--"

"Sorry, I don't talk to strangers," Bonnie said interrupting him as he stopped and swallowed hard.

"What are you doing here?" Elena asked him as he looked elsewhere before resting his gaze at her.

"Rose's babysitter is sick. So I had to drop her and I was hoping to meet you so we'll talk" he said getting on her nerve.

"Why do you wish to see me? What's your issue?" Elena fired while Bonnie listened to their conversation attentively.

"Please Elena, can we go out on a date? We need to talk' he said with pleading eyes.

"Why would I talk or go out on a date with you? You think I'm stupid?" She asked as he felt frustrated already.

"Elena, I'm sorry," he said looking around if someone was listening to their conversation.

"Wait a minute. Elena, is this the guy that dumped your ass?" Bonnie asked in surprise as Elena faced down.

"Of course he is!' Bonnie said removing the straw from the soda as she splashed the remaining drink on Bryan as he held his face.

"What the!" He said cleaning his eyes.

"That's for dumbing my Elena's ass you son of a bitch!" She yelled and showed him her middle finger as Elena laughed at this.

"Where the hell did this little demon come from?" He asked staring at his body as people passing by laughed.

"Thanks, Bonnie!" She said giving her a high five.

"You deserve better not that piece of a jerk," she said smiling before walking to her school building.

"Bye Elena," she said waving.

"Bye" Elena replied waving back before she finally walked to her school building.

They were all in class as Mr. Alaric taught, but Elena wasn't paying attention at all.

She kept staring back at Sarah's empty seat as her heart bled.

"Miss Gilbert? Mind telling us what's the matter?" Mr. Alaric asked as she flinched. Standing up, she bowed her head.

"I'm sorry sir," she said with bowed head as he breathed down.

"What's the issue?" Laura mouthed to her as she just shrugged.

Sophia kept glaring at Peter and it seemed she has gotten back together with her friends.

Peter made sure he avoided eye contact with her because he wasn't ready for her troubles at all.

Classes were over as they walked to the cafe for their lunch.

They sat on their regular seats as Elena kept glancing at Sarah's. They ate in silence but Elena never touched her food.

"Hello guys, we'll be having a campfire night at Mystic Hollow Tree House. Hope to see you there" Agnes said dropping the flier on their table.

"Sorry, we are not interested," Elena said giving it back to her.

"Well, let it just stay with you in case you change your minds" she insisted dropping it on their table again before she left.

Peter picked it up and read through it.

FIRE CAMP NIGHT @ MYSTIC HOLLOW TREE HOUSE, 4TH OF OCTOBER, 2023. 8 PM PROMPT.

"Hmm, sounds interesting," Peter said shoving the flier in his pocket as the rest seemed so not interested.

"What if we go check out the cemetery. We might find something there" Laura suggested.

"We can't, it's now a crime scene and they're still investigating the case," Alex said.

They remained quiet as a gunshot was heard from outside the school building.

They all stared at each other frightened as they race outside to go check it out.

They saw one of their janitors, shot at his forehead.
