Chapter 38: Chapter 38
Chapter 38 - Vtuber Sent Medieval Locals to a Pest-Infested Burning Star to Extract Element E-710 Under the Guise of a Game.
Sparrow noticed Parita’s floating name and recognized her. She rushed over and grabbed her shoulders.
"Kestrel! Is that really you?! What is this place?!"
"Sparrow? What the?!"
Parita observed Sparrow’s movements and was surprised. She replied through the in-game mic, which was provided by the system.
"Whoa, there. Calm down. It’s just a game. Also, how did you get into my game? I thought nobody could join my party."
Andean coughed and replied for all of them. "We’ve joined your channel’s membership, and your... system... brought us here."
"Membership? System?" Parita turned to Andean. She frowned, but her game character remained immobile. She was also stunned that Andean was aware of the term "system".
Parita had a bad feeling about the man. Her instincts warned her not to trust this person.
Andean calmly explained. "In my case, I was invited to join your membership in exchange for 10 gold coins. Once I became a member, I was moved to the tutorial area physically."
"Yes. Fortunately, I can still use my abilities from the previous world. The tutorial was rough, though."
Despite the shocking events, Parita was more wary of Andean.
Andean was excessively composed and informed for someone living in the Middle Ages. Even though he might be a powerhouse figure, a normal person should have had a reaction when he entered the spacecraft and saw its sci-fi interior.
"Let’s assume y’all get transmigrated to this world. In my case, I’m still using a game character. My real body is sitting in jail."
Parita clarified and turned to Neutrophils and Sparrow. She was more concerned about the two.
"You two, I know you might have a lot of questions right now, but I need you to get used to this world fast. Do you know how to shoot guns?"
Neutrophils raised the rifle, which he had taken from the tutorial zone.
"It’s not hard to use, but I prefer swords or hammers."
Sparrow also agreed. "I learned about it, too. There were also exploding balls and light balls, right?"
"...Yeah, the strategems. You know how to call reinforcements and summon supplies, right?"
"Yes. It’s amazing! How do you summon everything from the sky?"
"...Not me. The others."
"The ships. They dropped them when you sent them signals."
Parita changed the subject since it would take a long time to explain the sci-fi terms to this elf girl. She glanced at Andean. "You said that you could still use your power, right?"
Andean grinned behind his mask. "Yes."
Parita turned to Neutrophils and Sparrow again. "Try using your abilities or magic. Test if it works, but try not to damage anything in the process. We’re in space. If you accidentally blow the wall or an important component, we’ll be stranded here forever."
Sparrow took a deep breath. She emitted green air around her, which was the nature mana that every elf could gather. Neutrophils also exuded the golden aura of a paladin.
As soon as Neutrophils figured that he retained all of his power, he smirked and turned to Andean. By opening his palm, an energy sword manifested, and the sword tip pointed at Andean’s neck.
"Now, vampire. You have nowhere else to go. I’ve finally caught you."
Andean laughed and unpinned a grenade from his waist. He held on to it. "Try it, and I’ll blow up this ship. Do you think you can survive in space? Too bad for you because you can’t! But for me, I have no trouble traversing through the void or living without breathing for years."
Neutrophils flinched and frowned. Having completed the tutorial and tossed some grenades, he understood their destructive potential. He deactivated his energy sword.
Andean also put the pin back in the grenade and disarmed it. With a shrug, he moved away from Neutrophils, using Parita as a shield.
"Scary. Very scary." Andean snickered.
Parita rolled her eyes. After watching their interaction, she confirmed that Andean was aware of space. To test his knowledge and motive, Parita came up with a scheme to test him.
"You know what? I think it’s better to get everybody used to this game world. Follow me."
Andean grinned while Neutrophils and Sparrow were still taken aback by the new environment. They followed after Parita closely while they admired the short hallway and multiple consoles on the way.
Parita stopped at the bridge and selected another mission. Instead of dropping them into a Vietnam War Simulator mission, she picked the northeast sector, where the oil farms were located.
Parita chose the simplest mission to ensure nobody would be traumatized by war. The ship hummed and traveled through hyperspace, bringing them to the other side of the universe.
Neutrophils and Sparrow gawked at the scene from the observation deck. Only Andean crossed his arms and leaned against a wall, watching their reactions. Parita glanced at the vampire and took a mental note. Thıs content belongs to novel~fire~net
The ship arrived at the fiery star. Everybody stood on the front bridge and looked down through the observation glasses. They then found fire tornadoes.
Parita grinned widely.
"Since we all have some magical abilities, we should be fine down there, right?"
Sparrow was horrified. The expression of Neutrophils turned pale from the dread, but nobody could see his face. Only Andean never ceased smiling.
Andean teased Parita. "Are you sure you want to send these newbies to the bug holes?"
Parita caught another hint. She asked him to make sure.
"By chance, are you from Earth?"
"What if that’s a yes?"
Indeed. That explained everything.
"I see. Thanks for your honesty. That makes the explanation easier."
"I know. I’ve dealt with other tranmigrators and reincarnators before. You’re not the first."
That was too much information to digest. Parita paused for a moment. She stopped looking at her game monitor and asked the system.
"Say, my great system. Who the hell is this loser? How many Earthlings have transmigrated to our planet?"
[I possess no information about the other Earthlings or entities from other planets. However, I can assure you of this. No transmigrator or reincarnator can pose a threat to you.]
"In the game or in the real world."
[For that, we have to experiment with them ourselves.]
Parita had no issues with the experiment, but she was only concerned for Sparrow’s safety. She asked the system once more.
"What will happen if they die in the game world?"
[They will be returned to their actual bodies. No one will be harmed.]
"So, death is the only way back?"
[No. If they complete the mission and return to the ship safely, they may return to the real world along with their equipment, artifacts, items, and skills that they’ve learned from the game world.]
For the first time, the system seemed to favor the others more than her. It annoyed her. It felt like her mother was giving more attention to the other kids, not her, the firstborn.
The system read her like a book and explained.
[This is but a marketing scheme to attract more members. Please cooperate.]
"...What will I get from this... babysitting? Can I get the guns too?"
[You get 100 Idol Points and five gold coins from every member per month. If you manage to entice more than 100 locals to join the membership, your livestream system will be automatically upgraded to level 4, which will unlock sponsors and ad revenue.]
"I don’t know what I’m doing this for at this point. I have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life."
[But you are still vulnerable to Hungers, Starves, Scorches, and Depraves.]
Parita’s face twitched. Hearing more about this world’s lore and local monsters made her depressed. She gave up pursuing more information since it started giving her a headache.
She hated complicated matters. She became a streamer because she didn’t want to think.
[In addition, you can directly purchase items from the game that you have cleared with Idol Points and bring them to our world.]
"You should have told me earlier!"
Parita was motivated. She shifted her attention back to the game. Since she had ensured Sparrow’s safety, she planned to troll everybody a bit.
Instead of choosing the deployment location and the difficulty at their current level, she raised the difficulty to the highest. After confirming the deployment, she glanced at Andean and smirked.
’Yup, you’re dead. I’m not giving you a souvenir.’
Although Parita felt bad for Sparrow and Neutrophils, this was a necessary baptism. She vowed that she would compensate them later.
The spaceship adjusted its course and brought them toward an island, where insect creatures made large nests in the area. The ship parked, and the deployment pod was unlocked.
Parita grinned and walked back to the weapon selection console. She switched from a rifle to an incendiary shotgun. As for the strategem, she chose simple expendable anti-tank and some basic eagle run.
Andean frowned and took a peek at the bridge’s console. When he noticed the chosen difficulty level, he laughed dryly.
"Hxlldiver difficulty from the start? Are you trying to kill us all, lady?"
Parita snickered. "None of you will die for real in this game world. If you die here, you will be sent back home. This is the quickest way for you to gain experience and return home."
Hearing that they could return home, Sparrow was delighted. "Really? Can I go home?"
Neutrophils facepalmed. He asked. "Is there another option? Do we really need to die?"
"Finish the mission, and you can take weapons, armor, artifacts, or whatever you can carry back home."
This got Andean and Neutrophils excited. Andean showed emotion and a reaction for the first time. He dashed toward the strategem console to change his game character’s settings and loadout. However, as a level 1 character, he had nothing but the default weapon and strategem options.
"You should have told me earlier. We could have chosen a trivial mission and gone home with guns and ammo!" Andean complained.
Parita mocked him. "My game, my rules."
"...People will hate you for this."
"IDGAF. Now, go get ready. Sparrow, follow me and stand on the platform. Whatever happens from now on, learn it with your own body and soul, ’cause everything will make you stronger! FOR SUPREME EARTH!"
Parita cackled and got to the deployment pod. Andean gnashed his teeth and followed her. Neutrophils and Sparrow, however, still had a thousand questions to ask about this place and about Parita’s abilities. They reluctantly got on the platform.
Both accidentally inserted their feet into the sockets. The pod’s mechanism locked them to the platform and sent them into the deployment pod. Metallic straps emerged from the sides and locked them tight.
Before they could even scream or resist, the deployment pods were launched toward the burning star. As if the game world played a prank on them, the pods played an encouraging tune to hype them.
Sparrow and Neutrophils screamed. It was their first time experiencing G9 gravity.
