Chapter 39: Chapter 39

New York, Selene’s house.

Mayla and Vanessa are in the empty house. All the vampires responsible for Selene’s security were gone; they had all left for the vampire world.

Vanessa now wears a perfectly polished servant’s outfit. In this short time, she has learned a lot from the vampire Mayla, who is very strict with her training.

"Are we done?" she asks. She wants to see her master; she feels safe when she is near him.

"No, we still have a few last things to do. Follow me," Mayla replies in a neutral tone.

They both leave the living room and head to the basement.

In one corner of the spacious, armored basement, there is a vampire tied up with a special rope that blocks vampire abilities.

’Those witches really sell everything,’ thought Mayla, and she walked up to the vampire and kicked her hard.

"Ugh!" The vampire makes a pained noise and slowly opens her eyes; she quickly adjusts to the darkness of the basement. "So you two were the ones who captured me." ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ N0velFire.ɴet

The vampire had short pink hair and wore a black work hat that was now torn to shreds, revealing her pale skin.

It was the vampire who was with Loic!

"Capture you?" Mayla raises an eyebrow. "Why would we do something so nefarious? We only picked up your Master’s trash."

"Hahahaha!" The vampire whose name is unknown laughs loudly: "It’s true, he was abandoned by my master, that’s nothing new." She shakes her head calmly: "After all, we are vampires, selfish beings who only think of ourselves."

"What you say is true," Mayla nods with a smile, "But that’s not what matters. What did your master steal from the Inquisition?"

"Ah, that’s why they took the trash he left behind." She smiles, knowing that by trash she means her. "I stole the Blood of Christ. An extremely important object for the Inquisition. You know what Jesus Christ means to humans."

Mayla nods, understanding, because the Inquisition is cooperating with that scum that continues to wreak havoc on both the human and vampire worlds. "So, why were you abandoned by your master?"

"I wasn’t abandoned, I faked my death when we were attacked by the Inquisition." She replies, shuddering as she recalls the great attack they suffered.

"So the traitors ended up betraying themselves. Ironic, isn’t it?" Mayla smiles with disdain, remembering the famous human saying: A thief who steals from a thief has 100 years of forgiveness.

"Hahaha, you’re not wrong," the vampire laughed out loud, "Well, was that all you were going to ask me?"

Mayla doesn’t respond. She looks at the time on her phone, which is 1:00 pm. She smiles and turns to Vanessa, who heard everything. "Take that vampire out to get some sun," she says, her smile distorting.

"..." Vanessa hesitates for a moment and says, "But she’s really annoying."

"Huh? Are you calling me fat?" says the vampire, annoyed.

"..." Vanessa ignores the vampire and looks at Mayla.

Mayla was about to sigh, but she restrained herself; a perfect maid cannot lose her composure: "I’ll take her to the door, and from there you can drag her out and let her sunbathe."

She grabs the vampire, who doesn’t resist because she can’t, and they leave the basement.

Once at the door of the house, Mayla throws her to the ground as if she were a sack of potatoes.

Without saying a word, Vanessa opens the door, grabs her legs, and carries her out of the house. Just as she is about to throw her out into the sun, she says, "Any last words?"

"I do have a few last words." The vampire coughs several times, clears her throat, and begins: "You damn bitch! I hope you rot in hell! You’re a worthless piece of trash. How dare you be so arrogant as to touch me! If it weren’t for this, I would have already drunk your blood and shit on your corpse, you damn whore, bitch... slut! HAHAHAHAHA!"

"..." Vanessa looked at her with a deadpan expression and spoke in a neutral tone: "What incredible last words."

"Thank you." The vampire smiled broadly.

"..." They weren’t compliments! Vanessa stopped herself from yelling at him and just sighed. She grabs her legs and makes a big effort to throw herself into the sun. ’Goodbye forever, I won’t remember you.’

The short-haired, pink-haired vampire fell heavily onto the grass, and the first ray of sunlight hit her.

At first, it was just a tickle. A tingling sensation ran across her skin as if millions of tiny insects were walking beneath her flesh.

But the tingling turned into fire.

"What... what is this...?" she managed to whisper, before the pain consumed her completely.

Her skin began to crack and bubble, giving off white smoke. The smell of burning flesh mingled with the scent of flowers from the garden.

"AHHHHHHHH!!" she screamed in a distorted, inhuman voice, rolling around on the grass. Her body arched, writhing as if a thousand flamethrowers were incinerating her at once.

"DAMN YOU...!" She roared between spasms: "I’LL SEE YOU IN HELL! HAHAHAHAHA!"

Her laughter echoed like a broken, deranged echo, gradually fading away along with her body.

First her arms turned black, then her face, until all that remained was a charred silhouette that crumbled in on itself.

The wind blew gently, stirring up a whirlwind of ashes that scattered in the air, glistening briefly in the sunlight, as if death itself were bidding her an ironic farewell.

Vanessa watches the ashes vanish into thin air, her expression neutral, feeling nothing. That vampire was one of the reasons for her deplorable state before she met Lucien and the others.

It was, so to speak, a kind of revenge. You could even say that Mayla did this to... "We’d better go back inside; this sun could ruin my beautiful skin." She turns around and enters the house with a tear running down her cheek.

It was a liberating tear.

Once inside the house, Vanessa says with a big smile, "All right, job done, now let’s go to my master’s place. By the way, where are we going now?"

"...". Mayla looks at her for a brief second before replying:

"We’re leaving for Romania tonight."
