Chapter 135: Chapter 135
Author's POV
"Honey, why are you not sleeping?" Mr.Brooks asked with a concerned voice to see his wife still waking up at midnight.
"I was worried about Eric. I don't know why but I felt he is turning silent nowadays. Even though he showed a smile, we know, it did not mean it." Mrs. Brooks's eyes filled with tears.
"I know that. But what can we do? I don't want to pressurize him anymore to do anything without his will. He already did everything for us. Now we need to let him choose whatever he wants. Even if it's divorce…" Mr.Brooks sighed with an upset face.
"But honey, I still think he is making the
wrong decision. He should talk to Angela about this before making up his mind." Mrs.Brooks touched his hand and added," Honey, we should talk to Angela. If Eric is not ready to do that."
Mr.Brooks thinks about it but soon shook his head in denial.
"No. We can't do that!"
"But why?" Mrs.Brooks felt desperate.
"Because it's a matter between husband and wife. If they truly wanted to break up. We can't let them get involved with each other. Where they both can not be happy. And more importantly, I don't think we should make the same mistake in the past in choosing their path."
Mrs. Brooks's lips sealed to hear him. She knew her husband was right. They are already suffering still now for their past decision and now getting themselves again between their matters, only going to repeat their last mistake.
"I think. We should just pray that our children stay happy whatever they choose." Mr.Brooks patted her hand lightly with encouraging eyes.
Mrs.Brooks hearing her husband's words, only nodded at last and mumbled," Yeah, you are right, honey. Let's pray."
Mr.Brooks gave a weak smile and nodded. While Mrs.Brook smiles back at her husband and soon gets off the bed.
Mr. Brooks's brows raised as he asked out," Why did you leave the bed?"
Mrs.Brooks looked at her husband and answered," I'm just going to the kitchen to fill up the empty water jar. I'm feeling a little thirsty." She takes the empty jar from the small table beside the bed.
Mr.Brooks nodded to hear her. While she left the bedroom.
After filling the water jar when she was going back to her bedroom, her eyes noticed someone going towards the stairs.
Mrs. Brooks's brows immediately twisted with a frown as she walked fast to stop the person from going on the stairs the next moment.
"Hey Stop!"
Hearing the sudden voice coming from behind, the person turned to look at the voice source while an envelope fell from his hand.
Mrs.Brooks waited for the person to turn and soon the person and she both of them recognized each other.
"Ohh, Madam." The driver immediately felt a little nervous. As Jack told him, to send the envelope directly to Eric's room without being caught but now Mrs.Brooks stopped him, and the envelope just fell in front of her feet.
"Ben, What are you doing here, so late?" Mrs.Brooks asked.
The driver looked at her with nervousness as he said in a shaking voice," I-I…just come to send Eric Sir, some important paper."
"This late?" She asked.
"Yeah, Sir told me to send it now."
Mrs.Brooks nodded and soon her eyes went down to her feet where an envelope was placed.
She immediately understands this is the thing the driver is talking about.
She bent to take it, but before her, the driver moved faster.
"Madam, you don't need to do that. I can." His hand takes the envelope.
Mrs.Brooks just nodded.
The driver gave a fake smile and turned to the stairs.
But Mrs.Brooks touched his shoulder and stopped him again.
"Ben, wait."
The driver felt nervous but soon turned.
"Yes, M-Madam."
"Give me an envelope. I'll send it to him. You can go."
The driver's forehead sweated.
"B-But Madam." His hand clutches the envelope.
"What Madam?"
"Give me the envelope Ben." Mrs. Brooks forwarded the hand.
The driver got into chaos.
"M-Madam."
Mrs.Brooks felt something was wrong with him and soon noticed his hesitation to give the envelope. And the next moment, her eyes went to the envelope with suspicion. Before moving her eyes back to the driver.
"Ben, give me the envelope." Her face turned serious.
The driver never saw his madam this strict and immediately gave her an envelope.
Mrs.Brooks glanced at it before ordering him to go back home.
The driver immediately walked out to call Jack.
Mrs.Brooks looked at the envelope and ripped it from the corner.
.
.
"What? Did she open the envelope?" Jack asked in anger.
"No, Sir. Not until I was there." Driver hesitantly answered.
Jack knew he needed to call Eric soon to tell him this.
"Alright, you can go home." Jack immediately cut the call and dialed Eric's number to inform everything.
Eric's forehead deepened. As soon as he got this news, he walked out of his bedroom and went toward the stairs. But to her surprise, her mom had already seen the passport and ticket.
"Mom…"
Mrs.Brooks turned her head and looked at her son with tearful eyes.
"What is this son?" She pointed to the envelope.
Eric's hand turned into a fist.
Suddenly, Mr.Brook also comes outside to see his wife not coming back.
"What are you both doing here?" He asked to see them.
Mrs.Brooks turned her head to see her husband, and the next moment blurted out angrily.
"Why don't you ask your son?" She angrily said and approached her husband.
Mr.Brooks felt confused and looked at his son with confused stares for an answer.
"What's your mom saying, Eric? What happened here?"
Eric looked at the ground while Mrs. Brooks gave the envelope to her husband's hand.
"You can see that, your own." After saying this, she left angrily.
Eric felt wrong and called her, "Mom!"
But Mrs.Brooks didn't turn and left them alone there.
Mr. Brooks's forehead creases. As he notices Eric's passport.
He immediately understood what it meant and looked at Eric with sad eyes.
"Why?"
Eric felt desperate and answered," Because living here is not easy for me anymore Dad, it's hard, and I feel, I'm going to die with pain."
Mr.Brooks got tears in his eye but soon wiped them to go and walked toward Eric to hold him in his arms and give him a tight hug.
Eric's eyes couldn't help but be filled with tears as he tightly held his dad.
