Chapter 74: Chapter 74
"I'M EXCITED! Thank you best friend for thinking of including me on this trip." I glanced at Jacky who seemed uneasy adjusting her sunglasses to her eyes.
"After my photoshoot in San Simon, let's stay there for one week so we can make time most of the beach," I said excitedly.
"Really?! I'm so excited." She quickly hugged me with joy.
"I smiled and return the hug.
"Wait, where is the one who picked us up?" she before checking both roads.
"He's on his way already, he said he'll just buy something at the convenience store for a while," I calmly said.
"Ah, who's that? Your company's driver?!" she exclaimed.
I lightly shook my head and just ignored what she said. I'm the one who's worried now because Nicholas himself will come after us. It wasn't his responsibility to take me to San Simon himself but he was urgent so I agreed, after all, I was with Jacky, we would not spit on in case we run out of topics.
Moments later a Mercedes-Benz stopped on the other side of the road. He slowly slid down his tinted window to glance at me across the street.
I waved quickly at him as I recognized the car's occupant. He's wearing his sunglasses too like Jacky.
He quickly made a mini-work turn in front of us and quickly got out of the car.
"Sorry, I'm just a little late for traffic." he apologetically said as he approached.
"No, no – no It's okay." I timidly smile at him as if struck especially with shame at what he said. Its appeal added to my nervousness. Wearing his jaw-dropping gray long sleeves shirt that slightly folded up to his arm and black trouser with his shiny oxford shoes.
Maybe anyone will look at him because of the elegance and stance he has. My soft cheek turns red when he tilted his head to kiss me.
Jacky cleared her throat often after that so Nicholas turned to her full of a surprise because he even took off his sunglasses to catch his eye.
"Ah, Nicholas this is my bestfriend Jacky. She's the one I'm telling you I'm going to include in the photo shoot," I shyly said and turned sideways.
He just nodded before returning the sunglasses to the eyes. I turned to Jacky who looked like a standing statue.
"Jacky, Nicholas is the owner of T-shirts and Glam Company. My boss."
"Hi!" she waved her hand to greet him, but instead of smiling, Nicholas turned his attention back to me.
"Hand me your things," he said, before picking up the shoulder bag I was carrying. He also slowly opened the car door for me so I was embarrassed to glance at Jacky to signal to get on as well.
"This car is so nice, best friend!" Jacky couldn't stop talking since he got into the backseat.
I turned to her before smiling. The innocent smile filled her face, very angelic and sweet.
"Sure! When you have a rich man's boyfriend, I'll make a fool of myself like this!" she giggled said.
I laughed at what she said. I heard Nicholas smirked and shook his head while steering the wheel.
"I'm sure, your boyfriend can't afford this expensive car like mine." Nicholas chuckled and lifted his head to glance at the rearview mirror.
"What did you say?!" Jacky didn’t like what Nicholas said.
"Nothing, just enjoy your free ride." The smirk grew over his face that never took his eyes off the road.
I felt Jacky pull on my dress so I turned to her full of concern. "Bushy, tell your Boss, it's not like I'm riding his car, he can say whatever he wants!"
I couldn't speak right away because I knew Nicholas heard what Jacky said to me.
"Is she your best friend?" Nicholas asked me.
My eyes rolled skyward before I speak, but Jacky quickly cut me off.
"Yes! Do you have a problem with that? I also won't wonder if you're Cherry's Boss, because one of the characteristics of an arrogant boss is that you have it!" Jacky answered quickly.
"Jacky enough." I glared at her so she leaned on the backrest, crossing her arms with anger.
I quickly turned to Nicholas who was next to me, he barely glanced at me with a smile on his face.
"I'm glad you don't be like her," he whispered.
"Nicholas please..." I chose to grab his arm to calm down. I heard a deep sigh coming from him and nodded.
I turned to Jacky who was already on the road. I know it was a bad trip in the argument he and Nicholas had. Maybe I'll talk about it later when we're down.
We also had an hour's flight before we stopped over at the restaurant. Nicholas pulled me a sit and held my hand carefully.
"Thanks," I softly said. I looked up at Jacky sitting across the table.
Until now, she has been quiet since he and Nicholas argued. I don't blame her if she had a bad trip on our trip, maybe they just need time to get to know each other better.
We quickly finished the meal and set sail again on the flight. It will take about two hours for us to reach San Simon.
I glanced at Nicholas who was driving quietly. Suddenly I felt sorry for him for driving me to go to San Simon. If I only knew how to drive, maybe I would have replaced him earlier so he could rest.
"What is it?" I was shocked when he spoke to me.
I glanced slightly at Jacky who noticed that she had fallen asleep on the flight.
"Ah, do you want to take a break first?" I shyly bit my lip because his eye stopped momentarily at me.
"I'm okay, I'm used to a long trip."
I nodded at him and looked ahead. I would have liked to open another topic but it seems that my brain is blank.
"I know you're getting bored on this long trip. Maybe you want to take a nap? I'll just wake you up when we're there." he said softly.
"N-no, I'm fine. I slept a long time last night." I glanced at him again, our eyes locked in some moment
"Great..." he responded, before looking back at the road.
I buried myself looking throughout the window, I noticed some narrow green leaves that are eaten by cows, sheep, and horses. The mountains soared up like they wished to challenge the sky itself. We are far from the City because I don't see any buildings and establishments anymore.
"I called Cindy last night, and I asked her about your next project at F&S, supposedly you have one more photoshoot for their magazine and she's very disappointed with your decision to move the photoshoot to Thailand." I look back at Nicholas.
I have no answer to that matter. Whether I want to say yes. I have decided to babysit Carlson so that my compromise with Rexon will end.
"I know we've already talked about this, but can you tell me the reason? Well 'I deserve an explanation in this matter." he shrugged his shoulder to express his point.
I nervously leaning my back at the chair. Not for me but for what he has to say about Rexon, because everywhere you look, you don't seem to accept the job I exchanged for the good career that Cindy and he are offering.
"Come on, maybe your reason isn't serious?" He was carving.
I swallowed, honestly this is the hardest decision I have made so far, and this is all about me. My feelings. My reputation. Not only is my dream turned on for this but also my heart. And I have enough ego not to want to give up easily. Not because I love her anymore but because I don't want to show that I'm hurt even if the pain is already painful.
