Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Russell POV

Two days later, my father came back home and was preparing some documents and clothes for his trip to Japan, meanwhile, he had sent his secretary to book him a quick flight for the journey.

I walked into the room after knocking on the door. "Dad, is it true?" I asked with a worried expression, my dad who was arranging his bag stopped and looked at me.

"You heard?" He asked and I nodded, sitting down on the sofa in his room with my head down.

"How can it go so wrong?" The music which I had just sung a few months ago was going into criticisms and it was not so helpful for the production company.

"That's what I am going to confirm and probably set right on this trip." My father told me as he sat next to me, he gently tapped me on the shoulder, if this doesn't go well, my fame will drop and everything will blow upon my face.

"Son, I am going to Japan now and will be back in a month's time, all I want you to do is put your emotions in the next music and show them you have emotions and the right words for it." He said softly and I looked at him. "Take this one month and work on it.

He is an amazing father, I know he will clear up this misunderstanding, and as he said I have to work hard. "I will do my best dad," I said softly and he gave me that warm reassuring smile.

My father left home with Yvonne's father Malcolm, Yvonne called me over to her place and I obediently went to see her. I owe her this much for saying those rude things to her.

Other ladies wouldn't call me, and I knew I had to do this since her father and my father had been business partners for a while now.

Their house looks awesome I must admit, I sat down in the living room with my legs crossed she served me some wine and I gently sip, waiting for her to break the silence, she had called me over and I have nothing to say to her

"Don't you have anything to say to me?" She asked, facing me with her face, curiously expecting me to apologise, and I am not good at that, I don't even like the apology words.

"No, I don't," I told her seriously and brought the drink to my lips again, I could hear one of my song playing in the background, she must have put this on to impress me, but it was one of the songs I hate from all the songs I had sung and I would have told her to turn it off, but I kept my cool.

"You should apologise." She said in anger and I scoffed. I love being honest with all the ladies I date. I turned to her and raised the corner of my lips.

"You know, I told you I used you and that is it," I said nonchalantly like we have talked about this before and she wants to hear it again, which means she is trying to cause herself to hurt the second time.

She closed her eyes and I knew she was not happy, I sip my wine again, knowing that she would speak when she was ready. "I don't know why, but I keep on thinking of you, even if you are using me." This was normal, so I did not bother to look at her expression. "Let's use each other."

I raised my brow and nod, exactly what I expected her to say, these ladies just never seem to surprise me. "Yvonne." I put down my glass and face her. "We are like business partners here, you and I are singers, you know?" She nodded and I leaned back on the chair. "To tell you the truth, I don't love you."

"Then let's pretend we love each other." She told me without hesitating and I exhaled softly, who wouldn't want to date a popular man, even if it was all acting and a lie.

"Should we?"

"Yes, we should." She said softly.

I contemplated for a while, dating her will have an advantage, my dad and her dad will believe we are still seeing each other and my dad will not make me go for another blind date and no one will notice I am dating our maid if they still see me with Yvonne.

I smiled and picked up the wine, lifting it to my lips. Everything is just going as planned. "Then let's give it a try," I told her and while sipping my wine, I could see the smile on her face from the corner of my eyes and it even made me glad, this will be so much fun.

Russell POV

I sat down in our mansion living room going through my new song. I looked at the entrance of the dining table and everywhere. I have not seen our maid today and she did everything before I woke up.

She had set my breakfast and cleaned up this house. For four days now I have not seen her, she must be hiding from me. My dad was out on a trip and we were the only people in this mansion so she shouldn't and whereas I need her here.

I put down my notepad and got up. If she hides from me, then I will have to search for her. It will be a lot more fun that way. I walked over to the made room, it was the first time I was coming here, since in this big mansion I had no business down here, until today.

As I walked over to the door and raised my hands to knock, what I heard from inside stopped me. She was singing and not only that, her voice was like that of a nightingale. I listened for a while and pushed the door open. "Sir." She turned quickly.

"You can sing." I stare at her, I can't believe it. "My song, you can sing it." I walked close to her.

"No." She shook her head. "I was just trying to tune on it." She closed my notepad which I had given her to rewrite and turn to me.

I sat close to her and sat down, staring at her face. This was a song I just drafted. I haven't put a beat on it, but here she was, singing it. "You got the melody, and your voice is so... it is so angelic, you know how to sing." I smile, still looking at her like she was a mystery box.

"That is the only thing that keeps me company, it is like my best friend." She told me softly, looking down at her fingers.

"Jeez!" I exclaimed and ran my hands through my hair, I stared at her, wondering where she had been all this while.

"You can't be in here." She looked at the door, then at me, our eyes met briefly and she looked down.

I smile at her shyness. "Why not, it is my house too." I smile, like I smiled, not a fake smile but a real one, I was loving this.

"I don't mean to." She bites down her lips and I brought my head a little closer to take a close look at her face that was facing down.

"Malinda," I called her name as I told her I would, I held her face and gently lifted it so she could look me in the eye. "You are pretty, just the way you are, your eyes, your nose, your lips..." I looked down at her lips. "These lips..." I said softly as I moved closer to kiss her but she picked up my note and placed it in my front and I left her face.

"Your note, I am through with it," I said softly and swallowed hard. I looked at the note like it had just spoiled my moment.

"You are?" I muttered and looked at her face, truly she knew how to escape.

"Yes, I am." She handed the note to me and loomed again.

"I see." I flip through the pages and look at her as I get an idea. "Malinda, come with me." I held her hand and dragged her along, even if she protested, to my music room. I made her sit next to the piano and sat next to her.

"Sir..."

"Call me Russeli from now on," I told her with a smile. "I will sing this song using the features I see in you, Malinda Kristen." With that, I hit the piano and started my masterpiece with her listening as I stare at her and sing.
