Chapter 12: Chapter 12
"Have you talked yet?" Elena asked me as soon as we got out of the building. I just looked at her and shook my head.
After a short conversation we had earlier that ended in a misunderstanding, I never saw him again. I didn’t even realize it had left his office. I tried calling him, but he wasn't answering. Then I also remembered that maybe that's why he didn't answer my call because I was using Elena's cellphone. I still can't get my things at home. I don't know if I can still take it because I've lost the urge to go home. Especially in today’s situation.
“Didn't he say goodbye to you? I saw him leave earlier as if he was in a hurry. ” I heard Elena say again as we walked towards the parking lot.
I just shrugged and quietly continued walking. Even the truth still bothers my mind. Before, it didn't last a few seconds every time we fought. He always wanted to make it up to me. After all, he didn't want a fight because he always experienced that with his brother, whom I still don't know. But now that the day has passed, he still makes no way for us to talk. Should I try to make the first move this time?
I sighed violently and turned to Elena when we reached her car.
"Should I say sorry first?" I asked her. Her eyebrows rose, so I knew immediately that she didn’t agree with what I said.
"Are you to blame?" She asked me. I suddenly remembered Apollo and the fact that I was married and Ares didn't know that. My conscience suddenly struck me.
"Kind of…" I whispered and averted my eyes from her. Next, I heard her laugh so I stared at her.
“Let's just go first—”
Elena couldn't continue what she was going to say when she suddenly stopped and seemed to see a ghost behind her. Her eyes also widened, so I quickly turned around just to see this man standing beside me. He automatically focused his gaze on me and I just looked up because he was so tall and he was really a big man.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him and quickly walked away. His gaze followed me. It was only then that I noticed his brown eyes. That was very focused on me.
“Didn’t I remind you that I am coming to pick you up?” His voice is deep and soothing. Then I just remembered his text earlier to me. He was really serious about that?
"And did I agree to let you pick me up?" I asked him again. He looked at me more deeply so I felt deprived. I could feel Elena pushing me but I didn’t notice that right away because I couldn’t let go of this man’s gaze on me.
“You don’t have a choice this time. Your best friend can also come if you're that scared,” he said in his baritone voice as if I had to follow what he said.
I was stunned there until I realized that he was already holding my hand while pulling me toward his car. I quickly turned to Elena who just nodded at me and shrugged. I turned to this man again and tried to struggle with his hold on me but I couldn’t. He held me so tightly that he didn't seem to want to let me go.
“I don’t need to see a doctor. Let me go! I didn't even agree about it! ” I shouted at him but he didn't seem to hear anything until we reached his car. I was just stunned when I saw his black convertible. He's this rich to afford this expensive car?!
He turned to me suddenly and I was still a little backward when he focused his gaze on me again. His forehead was furrowed and his jaw tightened.
“I told you to take care of yourself but you’re not doing it right. Now get in the car. Your face is still swollen and you don’t seem to care about your condition. Do you want to die?” He told me authoritatively, so the edge o my lip lifted and I stared at him.
I touched my cheek. “Dead right away? Tss!” I whispered.
“Just follow, Ana. You might see Ares at the hospital we're going to. Don't you want to apologize?” I heard Elena say so I quickly turned to her.
She smiled at me and then turned to Apollo. Is this really his name? Corny.
“She’s engaged and getting married next week. Aren't you aware?” She asked the man directly, so my mouth fell open. I don’t even know what she's trying to say this time.
When I looked at the man again, I caught him glancing at me. His jaw clenched and he smirked.
"Well, I'm her husband now and also her first…" He didn't continue that and meaningfully looked at me and smiled even more. I suddenly felt hot when I realized what he was trying to say. This man is surely getting on my nerves.
Before I could react, he put me in the passenger seat of his car while Elena was in the backseat. I just followed him with my gaze until he got into the driver's seat. He glanced at me for a moment.
"Your seatbelt, lady," he said authoritatively, so I rolled my eyes.
What does he think of me, servant? To follow everything he says so easily? This Elena is also annoying because she didn't even help me escape from this man. Damn it!
Moments later, I heard his violent sigh. Before I could even look at him, I blinked twice when he suddenly approached me and our skin almost touched. My heart pounded immediately when his nose stuck to mine. I felt like I was electrified the moment our skins hit each other.
"Why are you so stubborn." He whispered and I almost closed my eyes when his warm and fragrant breath hit my face. He fastened my seatbelt and quickly disappeared in front of me.I caught my breath when I watched him start the engine. I tapped my chest when I felt the intense throbbing of it. I simply glanced at
this man. He was serious and his eyes were focused on the road. His elbow rested on the window and his hand was in his mouth. Its forehead is also furrowed. I could clearly see its sharp nose. His side profile is not a joke. Now I just stared at how it looked. I even noticed the movement of his Adam's apple. I bit my lower lip as I looked down at his rocky arm. I could see it clearly because it was scratched on his white polo. His big tattoo is also peeking there which makes his appeal even stronger. His appeal, I admit, is
killing me. He is a God.
I closed my eyes tightly and turned my gaze out the window. Then I just remembered the situation where I am now. Me, being married to someone I don't even know while I'm engaged to my long-time boyfriend… how can I escape from this chaos?
When we arrived at the hospital where Agatha was also confined, he immediately took me to the office of a doctor he seemed to know. A check-up was done on me for a while and I was only given medicine for pain and inflammation. After that, I went out first without him being aware. Elena was left outside when her mom calls her.
As I walked down the hallway towards the elevator, I saw Ares just coming out of a room. I was about to approach him but I was stunned when I saw the next one come out. It was my sister, Agatha. He supports it as he holds my sister's dextrose. I bit my lower lip and couldn't control myself anymore. I walked quickly towards them without them being aware.
“Ares…” I called him. They stopped at once and turned to me. I could see the shock in Ares's expression as Agatha just turned a poker face.
"Ana, what are you doing here?" He asked me but didn't even approach me, so I smiled bitterly.
“I should be the one to ask you that question, right? I didn't know you left your office,” I calmly told him and glanced at my sister. It even bothered me, so my forehead frowned.
What's going on?
"I texted you before I left," he said. That's when I remembered that I didn't have my cell phone, so I just nodded.
"Ah… I left my cell phone at home," I told him and fell silent. I didn’t take my eyes off him because I was waiting for the next thing he would say but nothing. I was suddenly ashamed of myself. He didn't even ask a question about my bruise and what am I doing there...
I just looked at Agatha when I felt the pain in my heart.
"How are you? When are you supposed to go home?” I asked as she just smirked.
“I can go home today, Ana. Why don't you try to apologize to mama and go back to our house so that you are updated,” she lazily told me.
I just nodded and ignored what she said. As much as I wanted to go back and apologize to them, I couldn’t take my pride anymore, especially now. I feel like they are going against me and I don't even know what to do.
“Where are you staying?” Ares asked me so laughing I looked at him.
"I thought you had no intention of asking that," I told him bitterly and turned my gaze away. I saw the frown on his forehead.
“I'm staying at Elena's place and I came here to have my bruise checked. Just in case you're interested to know,” I lazily told him, his forehead furrowed even more.
"What are you trying to say? I tried to ask you yesterday, but you didn't even tell me,” he replied seriously to me as if he was mad.
My shoulder dropped completely when I heard that. “Really? That doesn't seem to have gotten to me, Ares. You didn't even tell me you were heading here. I thought you were busy with some other things.” I could no longer restrain myself because of the anger I felt as if he didn’t care.
“And what are you trying to say here, Ana? That Constantine is not allowed to come here and visit me? It's true what mama said, you're selfish,” Agatha replied so I turned my gaze to her.
I looked back and forth at the two of them and then smiled. “Constantine? I thought you don't like to be called by that name. What happened now?” I asked Ares who avoided looking at me, so my chest tightened even more.
Before everyone could react, I just felt a presence beside me. I saw Ares's startled reaction when he saw the man next to me. There seemed to be more anger in his eyes.
"I thought you left." I heard Apollo say. I bit my lower lip and didn’t look at him yet.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" Ares asked him firmly, so I was surprised. I could feel the strange anger in his voice when he spoke, so I focused my gaze on the two of them.
This Apollo guy just smirked at him and glanced at Agatha who also didn't know what was going on like me.
"Fancy meeting you here… with other women," Apollo uttered.
My heart pounded as I looked back and forth between the two of them. Do they know each other?
