Chapter 83: Chapter 83

Claire's puzzle 2

When she googled him and knew just who he was, she could not help but have glitters fill her tummy, knowing that that kind of great individual had given her a hug and also rescued her. Now she was on her way to setting foot in his palace.

She was uneasy throughout the journey, unable to contain her excitement.

Alex would stare at her and laugh from time to time.

"You shouldn't be that nervous you know? He even wrapped his coat around you, remember?" Alex said at one point to calm her down. But the effect was the opposite.

"Oh my gosh, yes!" She covered her cheeks with her palms and blushed hard. "But I was just too traumatized to care and I had no idea who he really was back then." She defended with excitement and nervousness.

"He is a simple guy," Alex assured her. "He can do your laundry if you ask him to." Alex added.

"Really?" She flashed her eyes open in awe.

"Yes, you'll see, just relax." He smiled warmly at her.

"Umm hmm." She nodded and continued fumbling with her fingers.

Alex just chuckled and continued driving.

When they got to the gate, she stared at the bungalow in front of her and for a moment, sge relaxed a Little.

"He's really simple." She commented.

"Yeah." Alex replied.

The gate opened on its own, letting them in. She thought they were gonna circle around the house and park the car, but Alex did not stop. He continued down the graveled road, driving further away from the bungalow.

Lara looked around in complete perplexity.

Alex Smiled silently, he knew why she was baffled but he chose

not to clear the air.

She looked back at the almost disappearing building and quickly snapped her head back to Alex, who kept a stoic face and continued driving.

"We just passed the house." Lara finally found her voice, while pointing behind them. It was not a question.

"Nope." Alex replied with zero enthusiasm.

"What? That is not his house?" She rephrased, this time asking a question.

"Yep."

"Holy word!" She covered her mouth with her hands when the building finally appeared before her.

Alex looked at her and smiled, he unfastened his seat belt and stepped out of the car. He took his time and walked over to the passengers door to get the door open for his lady. Even then, Lara was still lost in her daydreaming world to even notice that the car had come to a halt and Alex was holding the door open for her.

"Sweet Lara?" Alex called softly.

"Umm hmm." She mumbled without turning to face him. Her eyes were still glued at what stood ahead of her.

"Let's go in, he is expecting you." Alex added patiently.

She still did not budge.

He sighed and took her hand in his as he guided the atmospherically drunken Lara__because he doesn't remember her smoking weed or taking alcohol.

"His house is a plane." She tiptoed and whispered besides Alex.

"Yes, he designed it to look like a plane." Alex replied.

"But it's like three quarters of it consists of glass." She added, still whispering.

"It's unbreakable glass, yes, and stop whispering, would you?" Alex halted to face her.

She kept her face like that of a cute little puppy and nodded obediently.

She did not utter another word, she just quietly took in her surroundings as they ascended the stairs.

A robot held the door open for them when they got to the top of the stairs. Lara was one step behind Alex, as if she was about to merge with him for the back. He noticed it but did not call her out or taunt her, instead he smiled.

"You said you guys would be here in 30 minutes, it is almost 120 minutes." Neon jogged down the flight of rotating stairs as he approached them.

"Since when did time matter to you?" Alex asked back.

"Screw you, asshole!" Neon was casually dressed in a set of gray pajamas, what Alex always referred to as his 'prisoners' wear.

"Hey, My Lady." He reached out his hand to frozen Lara who was gradually taking a step after another to completely disappear behind her boyfriend.

Neon turned to Alex and raised his brows questioningly, especially when Lara did not take his hand.

"She is obsessed with you." Alex whispered.

"Oh!" Neon whispered in realization.

"Just spare her some slack here." Alex added.

"Yeah sure. This way please." Neon motioned for them to follow him.

After taking a couple of steps forward, Alex realized that Lara was not following him, he paused and turned back for her hand.

"He called me 'My Lady'." She giggled softly.

"Of course, he needs to respect you." Alex said.

Neon just stood by the door and watched them talk about him as if he weren't there.

He led them into a lift that took them two floors below.

The place was like a vault made of glass. They bypassed a room filled with dormant robots of all shapes, sizes and colors.

Lara did not stop being amazed. She had not yet said a word to Neon, instead she was glued to Alex the whole time.

"I think she has a crush on me." Neon joked when they finally sat down in one of his screen rooms.

Lara automatically turned purple.

"Hi." She finally said, in almost a whisper as she slightly raised her hand to give a short wave.

Alex stared at her in admiration, allowing a soft chuckle to escape his lips. He had never seen her lose her composure like this.

"Hey, My Lady. Welcome to my humble abode." Neon gave a shot bow.

Lara smiled foolishly, without bothering to conceal her intense blushing.

"Ok." Alex clapped his hands together bringing the room back to a serious atmosphere. "What have you got?" He directed the question to Alex.

On their way here, Alex had already briefed Neon on Lara's theory and what exactly he was looking for.

"So where do I start?" Neon asked.

"I want to know everything about Claire and Mike." Alex replied.

"Fine, so she was your girlfriend and…" Neon started.

"Seriously, Neon?" Alex cut in.

Lara just raised her brows.

"I'm getting there." Neon defended.

"Just go straight to the point." Alex said in a cold tone.

"Chill man!" Neon tapped Alex on the shoulder. "Check this out." Neon motioned to the screen.

"Who is that woman?" Alex asked as he scrutinized the image on the screen.
