Chapter 81: Chapter 81

Breakfast in bed

"Good morning sleepy head." Lara opened her eyes to see the image of a smiling Alex loitering above her.

Well, he was not actually above her, he just raised his body while supporting his head on his arm.

"Good morning." She returned his smile. "Damn! what's that scent?" She asked in excitement while sniffing the air like a puppy.

"You mean, 'aroma'?" He proudly corrected her.

She giggled and raised her head to plant a brief kiss on his lips. "Aroma, What is that aroma?" She asked with a wide smile.

"I made you breakfast." He said excitedly, while adjusting himself to sit upright.

He went ahead to pull the bed table closer to them, while Lara also took a sitting position.

"Wow, it looks fancy." She commented while sliding her hair behind her ear.

Alex had decided to fry her egg in the shape of love. The yolk formed a love circle around the egg white in a perfect white and yellow combination.

"I guess I should take a picture of this." She looked up at him and said with seriousness.

"You really think it 's beautiful?" He asked.

"Sincerely, yes!" She answered honestly while clicking pictures from different angles.

"Aren't you worried about the taste?"

"Nah, I'm not at all worried about that." She shrugged nonchalantly.

"Huh?" He was all wows and jelly in his heart until…

"I can bet my ass off that you did not make it, so it'll definitely not be a threat to my innocent bowels." She said, without bothering to gauge at the mouth-gaped Alex who was so stunned to even blink.

She went ahead and began digging in her breakfast.

Alex stayed silent and watched her devour everything on the plate without even caring whether he had eaten or not, not to forget the fact that she just openly told him that his food was somewhat poisonous.

"Mmmm, this tastes awesome." She exclaimed without paying attention to the frozen guy beside her.

She licked her fingers passionately when she was done emptying the dishes. She topped her meal with the fresh orange juice, emptying both glasses too.

"Thank you so much, you are a lifesaver." She finally looked up to him and said, while ladily dabbing her mouth.

He stared back at her without saying anything, he was too stunned to speak for many reasons.

"Are you ok?" She asked when he did not react to her remark.

"You ate all the food." He said in a whisper, without completely recovering from all counts of shock.

"Uh huh, you said that it was my breakfast right?" She feigned ignorance.

"Do you know how much your words hurt sometimes?" Alex asked seriously.

"Huh? What did I say?" She asked innocently. "Find I'll make you breakfast. I was damn hungry, thanks to you who kept me busy the whole night. I thought you felt guilty about it." She did reverse psychology on him.

"What? No! It's not about the breakfast, it is about you saying that my food is harmful to the human system."

Lara threw herself in a fit of laughter.

"When you put it that way, I just can't help myself." She held her tummy and laughed out loud.

"It is not funny Lara Miles." Alex yelled.

"Then why are you smiling? Can you eat your own food?" She asked.

Honestly, he could not help but smile seeing her laugh that hard, how beautiful she looked, especially with her fresh morning glow. Not ignoring the hickeys all over her neck and shoulder, it looked beautiful and he was proud that he was the one responsible for all the redness.

She held the covers over her chest and continued laughing.

"Ok, find, you win." Alex finally gave up. He knew that he could never get mad at her, she never gave him the chance.

"But your cooking is horrible." She insisted.

"You are bent on pissing me off this morning right?" Alex eyed her.

"Is it working?" She winked at him with a smile on her face.

"Try harder." He said.

"Com'on, I miss spending time with you, you are always so busy." Lara confessed. "No work today?" She asked.

"When I said I'll be with you all morning, I meant it." He said softly.

She leaned in his arms for a warm embrace.

He gently pushed the bed trolley away and wrapped his arms around her.

"Thank you for the breakfast." She whispered.

"Even if I did not make it myself?" He asked.

"Yeah, at least you were up early just to make sure you could serve me in bed, it is heart-warming." She praised him.

"I love you, I'll do anything for you." He said.

"You are a darling…. sometimes." She joked.

"Seriously, Lara?" Alex pushed her away from his embrace.

She laughed and allowed her body to fall freely on the opposite side of the bed.

"You are good at ruining a moment." Alex said.

She chuckled as her laughter subsided. "You are a good man," she looked him in the eyes and said.

"Ofcourse I am."

"Narcissist!" She rolled her eyes at him.

"Alex?" She called, while sitting up straight.

"Yes."

"Is Mike ever going to get punished?" She asked.

"Yes, sweetheart, he will. Really soon." Alex assured her. He pulled her closer and planted a kiss on her forehead.

"Why does he hate you so much?"

"Because of business." He said vaguely.

"You said that the other time I asked and it's the same answer everyday, I want to understand more, I want to help." She looked up at him and declared.

He inhaled deeply before he began to explain.

"There was a piece of land not too far from the port, there was a controversy over the place and so the government intervened and put it up for sale. I beat Mike to the chase and got the place first." He explained.

She leaned back and listened attentively.

"At first, I wanted to acquire the place because I could build a warehouse there and it would be easier to offload my goods and pack them not too far from the port, rather than bringing them all the way to town." He continued.

"When the construction began, Mike meet me and proposed that he wanted to rent a section of the place, so that he could raise his own building,"

"That does not sound like a bad idea." Lara said.
