Chapter 411: Chapter 411

Sheila Yardley stopped in her tracks, hearing the footsteps approaching from behind.

Turning her head, Caleb Grant stood half a meter away from her.

Their eyes met, but they said nothing.

"When did you get back?" Caleb Grant asked.

Sheila lowered her gaze, not willing to talk to him.

Even if the man before her was entirely different from the demon in her memories.

Still, looking at this face made her feel resistant.

"Daddy!" Peach came running out of the house, happily running to Caleb Grant’s side.

Only then did Caleb Grant move his gaze from Sheila’s face, bending down to pick up Peach, smoothing the child’s hair with his hand, and asked, "Did you sleep well last night?"

Peach nodded, then pointed at Sheila and said, "I slept with the pretty sister."

Caleb Grant glanced at Sheila and corrected the child: "Call her aunt."

After all, "sister" was a generation apart.

Peach looked slightly confused at the two, while Julian Yardley came out of the room with a sullen expression, glanced at the three, said nothing, and headed straight to the entrance: "I’m going out first."

Catherine Yardley came out from the kitchen upon hearing that: "Aren’t you having breakfast?"

Julian Yardley: "No."

After saying that, he pushed the door open and left.

"That brat," Catherine muttered, then turned to Sheila and said, "Go check if your sister is awake, tell them to get up and prepare for breakfast."

Sheila: "Already awake, they should be coming down soon."

Catherine: "Then chat with Mr. Grant for a bit, I think this child looks a lot like you when you were little, must be fate."

Sheila: "Mom, go about your business."

Catherine didn’t suspect anything regarding Peach looking like Sheila, just as she’d mentioned earlier, believing it to be fate.

Shannon Quinn had actually already washed up, and when she was about to go downstairs, she saw Caleb Grant and Sheila together, so she intentionally didn’t go down, secretly observing from the shadows.

Caleb Grant sat on the living room sofa with Peach in his arms, while Peach told him how Sheila played with her the night before.

It was not hard to see that Peach quite liked Sheila.

Possibly because of a blood relation.

"Sister, Daddy’s taking me to the amusement park later, will you and Leo brother come with us?"

Sheila looked at Peach, then glanced at Caleb Grant.

She naturally wanted to spend time with her daughter, but with Caleb Grant there, she felt a bit hesitant.

Seeing her hesitation, Peach ran over, grabbing Sheila’s hand and pleaded, "Please?"

Seeing the expectation in Peach’s eyes, Sheila couldn’t bring herself to refuse, but she didn’t nod in agreement either.

Caleb Grant could see the conflict in her eyes and understood what she was thinking.

After a moment, he stood up, walked over to Peach, squatted down, and said, "Daddy has some things to do today, how about Auntie takes you to play?"

Peach was puzzled: "Daddy’s not going?"

Caleb Grant: "Daddy has some work to handle, you go with Auntie first, Daddy will come over once he’s done."

Peach obviously wanted Caleb Grant to come too but nodded sensibly, "Okay then."

Sheila didn’t quite understand why he so generously allowed her to be with their daughter.

Maybe he found someone new? Hoping for Peach to develop a good relationship with her so he could leave Peach with her, and continue living his own life?

If that were the case, it might be a good thing for her.

Caleb Grant didn’t stay for breakfast, he just fetched a clean little dress from the car, packed some cookies into Peach’s small backpack, and filled a water bottle.

After leaving these things, he left.

Peach was initially reluctant to see him go, luckily Leo was there to accompany her, otherwise, watching Caleb Grant’s car drive away, Peach might have wanted to leave with her daddy.

Landon Sutton went to the company after breakfast.

Shannon Quinn and Sheila Yardley headed to the amusement park together.

In the car, Shannon Quinn was driving, with Sheila and the two children sitting in the back seat.

"Elaine, I see you really like kids?"

Sheila: "It’s because Leo and Peach are so lovable."

Shannon Quinn: "Have you and Caleb Grant always kept in touch? He seems very comfortable leaving Peach with you."

Sheila: "He trusts you guys. Peach used to play with Leo often, didn’t she?"

Shannon Quinn: "Leo said when he went to tutor classes, Peach would be at daycare there, and they would play together whenever there was free time."

Sheila: "Daycare?" Nᴇw novel chapters are publɪshed on novel[f]ire.net

Shannon Quinn: "Yeah, I guess Caleb Grant is overwhelmed taking care of the child alone, given he also has work to attend to. Not sure why the child’s mother isn’t with them."

As she asked this, Shannon Quinn watched Sheila’s expression through the rearview mirror, seeing her gaze lowering upon Peach with a hint of guilt.

Yet, Peach was happily discussing the Rubik’s Cube with Leo, showing no signs of feeling different due to a lack of motherly love.

Seeing no answer from Sheila, Shannon Quinn asked again, "Do you think it could be that he paid a lot to have a child? Maybe Caleb Grant just wanted a child without marrying, so he found a woman to have his baby and that was it."

Sheila chuckled wryly and nodded: "...That could be possible."

This was a guess from Shannon Quinn’s mind since during that time, Sheila might have agreed to Caleb Grant’s request due to financial need.

However, judging by Sheila’s reaction, it didn’t seem to be the case.

And thinking further, if Caleb Grant really sought a child only, he probably wouldn’t allow Sheila to have any contact with Peach.

But now, it was evident that Caleb Grant was actively even encouraging interaction between Peach and Sheila.

Arriving at the amusement park, even though all were children’s activities, they still required adult companionship.

Shannon Quinn didn’t bring Leo out to play often.

Initially, because the child was too young, they couldn’t enjoy much.

Plus at that time, she had her job and rarely had opportunities to take the child out to play.

After reuniting with Landon Sutton, they had taken the child out together a few times.

Even though Leo usually acted like a little adult, at heart he was still a child.

At the amusement park, he wanted to try every game with his sister.

"Oh, I think I’m getting old, playing all day is really tiring," said Shannon Quinn, rubbing her sore calves as dusk fell, with the four of them seated in a restaurant near the amusement park.

Sheila smiled, looking at the still energetic two children, "I think they could play another round."

Shannon Quinn: "Next time, let their daddy take them to play, I’m done with this hard work. By the way, didn’t Caleb Grant call you earlier? Did he say when he’s coming to pick up Peach?"

Sheila: "He’s already on his way, should be here about the same time as my brother-in-law."

Shannon Quinn: "By the way, how did he get your phone number?"

Sheila hesitated for a moment before explaining, "...Stored it this morning, guess he’s concerned about Peach."
