Chapter 404: Chapter 404
Shannon Quinn mumbled, "I still hope he can be like before, understanding what needs to be understood, but still a bit childish for now."
Landon Sutton didn’t seem the least bit worried about his son and said, "I was that sensible since I was a kid."
Shannon Quinn was surprised by his proud look, feeling as if something had opened up in his mind.
She thought he would be troubled about Leo, but now it seemed he might feel guilty towards his child, though he had come to terms with his child’s changes.
After a few days together, Leo still hadn’t called him dad, but it was much better than the first two days.
Leo wasn’t very proactive in talking to Landon Sutton, but he would still obediently do whatever Landon asked.
Sheila Yardley was preparing to move back after a job transfer, and Catherine Yardley had gone over there to help her pack, so during this time, it was mostly Landon Sutton taking Leo to school alone.
Shannon Quinn also gradually returned to work, and in her spare time, she would study recipes to cook meals for the two of them.
After Ronan Rhodes returned from his business trip, he went to Charlotte Sheffield’s workplace for two consecutive days.
On the first night, he didn’t see her, thinking she was on the day shift.
In the morning, not seeing her again, he thought perhaps she had changed shifts.
In the evening, he went again, and she still wasn’t there. Coincidentally, he met another girl at the reception and asked, "Has Charlotte taken leave? Why haven’t I seen her for several days?"
The girl was operating the computer system and said, "Charlotte resigned quite a few days ago."
Ronan Rhodes: "Resigned? Why did she resign?"
The girl shook her head: "It seemed like she said there was something at home, but she didn’t specify what."
Ronan Rhodes: "Do you have her contact information?"
The girl still shook her head: "She changed her number, and she’s not using her old WeChat account anymore. I can’t get in touch with her."
Ronan Rhodes walked into the elevator, thinking it was a bit strange.
Normally, if there weren’t any issues, resigning would just be resigning, but there wouldn’t be a reason to cut off contact completely.
He had been paying attention to her for a while, but besides knowing her name was Charlotte Sheffield, he knew nothing else.
Come to think of it, why was he so focused on this woman?
Ronan Rhodes was never persistent about women, never insisting.
So after losing contact with Charlotte Sheffield, he didn’t visit that hotel again.
Every day he still frequented major entertainment venues, with the women around him changing faces daily.
After Landon Sutton returned to the company and organized things for a while, everything slowly returned to normal, and Ronan Rhodes had his first day off in months.
In high spirits and with the weather nice, a new girlfriend he met at a party the day before called to invite him out.
For women he hadn’t yet gotten, he maintained a sense of freshness, and Ronan Rhodes happily agreed.
While accompanying the woman shopping, Ronan was truly a model boyfriend, never showing impatience and sometimes even helping with opinions.
Apart from his playboy nature, Ronan was nearly impeccable in his treatment of women.
Both his IQ and EQ were top-notch, and he knew exactly how to win a woman’s favor.
Of course, this only applied to the women he encountered in his circle.
In the evening, he didn’t go to a bar but accompanied the woman to a popular street she suggested, known as a must-visit spot for couples.
The street’s shops mostly sold things related to couples, and the atmosphere was very romantic.
Street musicians were singing love songs by the roadside, and beyond the vendors, nearly everyone around was couples holding hands.
Ronan naturally understood the girl’s intentions for bringing him to such a place, and he played the role of a one-day boyfriend well, buying many trinkets along the way.
The items weren’t expensive, but they delighted the girl, and he thought he could come to places more often instead of luxury stores.
"Sir, would you buy a bouquet of roses for your girlfriend?"
"Five bucks a stem, twenty-eight for a small bouquet, fifty-eight for a large one."
"I’ll take a large one," the boy said.
The girl mumbled, "Just one stem is fine, a large one is tiring to hold."
Ronan overheard this conversation, initially meaning to buy a bouquet for the woman next to him to make her happy, but when he turned his head, he saw that the girl searching for change was Charlotte Sheffield.
Charlotte handed over the wrapped bouquet and change with a smile, saying, "I wish you two eternal happiness."
Ronan stepped forward; Charlotte thought a customer was coming, and after a glance at his leather shoes, she quickly smiled and asked, "Would you like to buy flowers, sir?"
When she looked up and recognized Ronan, she paused, noticing the woman holding onto his arm had changed.
Charlotte paused but pretended not to know him, continuing to smile.
The girl next to him pointed at a light pink rose bouquet and said, "This one is so pretty."
Charlotte merely smiled, unable to speak her sales pitch.
Ronan wrapped his arm around the woman’s waist, smiling as he asked her, "How much is this?"
Charlotte then replied, "Fifty-eight." Thɪs chapter is updated by novelꞁire.net
Ronan took a hundred from his wallet and handed it to her, saying, "Keep the change."
Charlotte hesitated, reached out to take the money, but still gave change from her pouch along with the bouquet.
The girl happily held the flowers, and Ronan indulgently smiled at her.
Hearing the girl say she was hungry and wanted to eat, Ronan looked around and headed towards a restaurant in the distance.
Charlotte glanced at their departing backs and then continued arranging the bouquets on the ground.
She thought she wouldn’t run into any acquaintances today, yet still, she bumped into him here.
These days Ronan had mostly forgotten about Charlotte, but unexpectedly she appeared again.
He felt curious about her series of odd actions, wondering why she quit her hotel job to sell flowers here? Could it be the income was higher here?
But it seemed quite tiring; she was just a small girl, and bringing so many flowers to set up here wasn’t easy.
Or did she have a boyfriend helping her out?
After the meal, Ronan found a nearby bed and breakfast to stay in.
While the woman was taking a shower, his mind wasn’t on matters between men and women but on Charlotte.
So he went out alone, returning to where the flowers were sold earlier.
At this hour, the street wasn’t as lively as before, with most vendors about to close up.
When he arrived, Charlotte was packing up her stall.
A tricycle was parked in front of her, and she was loading the unsold flowers onto it alone.
Ronan walked up and just quietly watched her.
Charlotte sensed someone beside her, looked up, and stopped moving the flowers.
After a few seconds of eye contact, Charlotte asked, "Do you need anything else, sir?"
Ronan glanced at the dozen or so unsold bouquets and said, "I’ll buy all of these."
