Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Things have been normal. Elmira and I have decided to give each other a chance and get to know more about each other. Mom was happy when she heard that. She said she's happy to see me finally falling in love. But I told her this isn't falling in love, it's understanding. Maya was happy too. She reminded me about saying I can't fall in love with Elmira. All prove to let them know it isn't love, prove abortive. I decided to flow with it. After all, loving her isn't a bad idea. Everyone at the packhouse seems happy too. Happy for the new me. It still surprises me that I could change into someone kind. Someone who cares about other people. Someone who cares about lives. Elmira has taught me a lot within the space of a few weeks. A lot I never knew I could learn within a short period. I've always thought I've got a rigid heart, that can not be easily influenced or changed. How Elmira succeeded is still a surprise to every one of us. I'm kinda happy that I did. Now I have peace of mind. The only problem I do have now is mom!!.

Mom has advised us to move in back together. She thinks that will make the love stronger. I didn't bother to argue with her. Even if I say no, mom will always find a way of bringing us back together. I also thought having her in the room won't be a bad idea, since we talk well now. Maya was in support, and the council of elders thinks it's a good idea too. So we agreed. Having her back in the room, sorry having me back. I was the one who left the room for her not the other way round. Coming back to our room, I realized a lot has changed. The room looked more organized. The way she arranged the room was far better than the way I did. "Do you love it, or you want me to make some changes?"

I rolled my eyes. Make some changes?. Hell no. "I love it. It wasn't this organized when I was here. You did a great job"

She chuckled. "Thanks"

We talked about other things before we finally left for training. The more time I spent with Elmira, the more I get to know her. It wasn't a bad idea, accepting to stay together. Ever since we came together, mom had stopped visiting us. She said we need time together. Only my mom knows what she thinks.

It's Saturday, Maya was with us in my studio. It's been a while I go there. Since it's a weekend, I decided to quietly go there and paint but you all know how Maya is, no matter how I tried to run away from her, she will find me. That girl knows almost all my movements. I sometimes try to push her off, so she could mingle with others and have friends, but just like her sister, she's so difficult to bend. Elmira has tried to make her make new friends and stop following me around. But Maya wouldn't. She said she prefers me to no other. Sometimes I wonder if she is into me?. Cause I don't understand why she will prefer me to others. But I realized aside from her sister, I was the only one she could relate to.

When she walked into the studio, I knew I won't be able to focus. She won't even let me. She chuckled and sat down. "Come on, Elmira. Come in"

I batted my lashes. Elmira is here too?. Elmira popped her head in. And finally walked into the room. She chuckled and sat down. "What are you painting?" Elmira asked

I rolled my eyes and turned the board backward. Thank goodness I haven't gone far in the painting yet. She would have found out I was drawing her. I planned to give it to her as a thank you for changing me. "Nothing serious. Why are you both here?"

Elmira chuckled. "Well, Maya here, said she has good news for us"

I rolled my eyes. "Good news?" Elmira nodded. "Maya, what sort of good news do you have for us?"

She chuckled. "Well, I want to tell you both that I've decided to have friends and leave you both to enjoy your marriage"

I rolled my eyes. Is she for real?. "Are you for real?"

She nodded. "I've gotten two new friends but they are both males"

Elmira batted her lashes. "Are you joking or what?. No female friends?". Maya chuckled. "Damien, you ain't saying anything"

I rolled my eyes. It isn't a surprise to me. "I think it's better than not having a friend at all"

Elmira groaned. "I knew you would support her". I chuckled. It's better. At least she will be off my neck. "You ain't saying anything!!"

"Chill, Elmira. Maya can take care of herself"

Maya chuckled. "That's why I love you, Damien. You're the best!!"

I smiled. Of course, I know I'm the best

It's a few days to Maya's sixteen birthday. Elmira and I had decided to give her a surprise birthday. We've been planning it secretly. And anytime she talks about her birthday, we pretended to be busy. Planning it was easier since she now spends more time with her so-called friends. I was happy when she told me she added a female friend, to her list of friends. At least, Elmira won't have to bother again. "What else do we have to put in place. It's in two days" Elmira complained

"Chill. I've got everything covered"

"Are you sure?. I want everything to be fine. Maya..."

The door opened and Maya walked in. I groaned. "Why are you calling my name?" She asked

"Ain't you suppose to knock?" I asked back ignoring her question.

She chuckled. "Sorry. Now can you answer my question"

I rolled my eyes. "We were just thinking. Maya will be having fun with her friends now. We are happy for her"

She furrowed her brows. "Why do I sense lie?. And why is Elmira not saying anything?"

I chuckled. "She's happy"

"I don't believe you. You'd better start talking"

I rolled my eyes. What will I tell her now?. There was a knock on the door? "Who is that?"

"It's Gary"

I sighed. "Come in". He walked in, and I chuckled. Gary Just saved my ass by entering into this room.  I sighed. You just saved me, Gary!!.

"My lord" he bowed

"Any news?"

He nodded. "The Queen wants the Luna to visit her, now"

I rolled my eyes. Visit?. "Did she send someone?"

"Yes, my lord"

"And where is he?"

"He left"

Left?. I have this strange feeling but I shrugged it off. "Ok. You can leave"

After he left, I turned to Elmira. "I think you should go see mom"

She nodded and stood up. "I'll"

"I'll ask some guards to go with you"

"No, I think I can take care of myself"

"You're going with guards"

"I think you should," Maya said. After a lot of persistence, she agreed to go with the guards.

It was night already and Elmira wasn't back. I was beginning to have a doubt. I was worried but Maya kept telling me she's fine. If she's fine, why do I have this strange feeling?. I decided to open up our mind-link. To know if she's all right. "Elmira?" I called, but there wasn't any answer. I called her name again. There still wasn't any answer. I was becoming furious. The door busted open and Gary rushed in. "My lord. There is news. The Luna has been kidnapped!!"

I batted my lashes. "What?. How did you know?"

"One of the guards came back with the news"

"Did he say who did that?"

He nodded. "It's Arden"

I batted my lashes. "Arden!!"
