Chapter 90: Chapter 90
That was what most people called Yejun during his active days as a Hunter.
It was because he had never been physically attracted to any of his Guides before.
Or to any other person, for that matter.
Even the Winter Guild’s A-Class Guide, the one who gained the nickname ’Nation’s Goddess,’ didn’t have an effect on him. It was the same towards Ahn Kisoo and Park Ruda– two of the most attractive Guides in Korea (pre-Wonhee, of course).
[I can’t believe I got turned on just because of a tongue-less kiss...!]
In Yejun’s defense, he couldn’t help it.
[Wonhee is just so... soft... and she smells really nice...]
Yejun punched the water in the indoor pool where he was currently soaked.
It created ripples, and then the water quickly froze.
Of course, the natural shield around him prevented his own ice from freezing the water around him. Hence, now it looked like he jumped into a frozen lake and created a hole where his body fell into.
[Well, at least I finally calmed down.]
Cold water did the trick.
"So, I’m not asexual," Yejun whispered to himself. "I just haven’t met my ideal type until I met Wonhee."
Fragile yet sturdy at the same time.
[My type... is so out of my league?]
Yejun’s face was the only thing he had that Wonhee might like, if he was lucky.
He was a disrespectful piece of shit.
And he was a destroyer... literally.
[I have plenty of (illegal) gold, but that won’t impress a chaebol like Wonhee.]
[Why do I want to impress Wonhee? I’m just one of the Hunters that she needs to Guide.]
Thinking about the Hunters that Wonhee might guide the same way she guided him...
He suddenly felt murderous.
It was ridiculous, yes.
No Hunters could monopolize a high-class Guide.
The term ’exclusive’ was different when it came to Hunters and Guides.
For example, Ahn Kisoo was Graham’s "exclusive" Guide.
Graham couldn’t receive Guiding from other Guides (pre-Wonhee era), but Ahn Kisoo could Guide Hunters from the Summer Guild, or any other Hunters in case of an emergency.
After all, there weren’t enough Guides for all the Hunters in Korea.
[And that’s the same for the other countries in the world.]
Gone were the dark times when Guides were being mistreated and harassed by Hunters.
[The number of sexual assault cases back then was horrifying. It still happens today, but the Special Law has become stricter to protect the Guides.]
Today, Guides are the kings.
Which meant it would be impossible for Yejun to keep Wonhee for himself.
[Unless maybe if I become the #1 Hunter in the world and kill anyone who dares to steal Wonhee from me–]
Yejun’s violent thoughts were interrupted when he received a call.
His Status Window popped up in front of him.
The Big 4 could use their Status Windows like phones to communicate among themselves. It was a privilege granted to natural S-Class Hunters.
Annoyed, Yejun pressed the button.
[I have something to ask the old man anyway.]
<"Maknae-ah, why did you pick up my call?">
"Why the hell are you asking that when you’re the one who called?"
<"Well, I didn’t expect you to answer my call because you never did. Is it because you want me to send the baby Kraken to you now?">
"That can wait. I have something to ask you."
<"Oh. Did your trust in me grow bigger or something after we worked together?">
"I trust your information network and not you."
<"Touché. What do you want to know?">
"Tell me something about the guy whose sex life was broadcast–"
<"Lee Seodam, Chu Wonhee’s ex-boyfriend?">
"Yes, that fake carnivore. His Status Window is weird."
<"So, you’re not going to hide the fact that you could see other people’s Status Windows anymore?">
"I know the three of you already knew about that ability of mine."
Yejun was able to take a look at the other members of the Big 4’s Status Windows when they were rookies.
[They would kill me if they caught me looking at their Status Windows now.]
<"How is Lee Seodam’s Status Window’s weird? I want answers as payment for the information that you want.">
"Fair enough," Yejun said, leaning against the pebbled tiles of the pool’s wall. "The fake carnivore’s skills were blurred. Plus, his source of strength was weird. It’s as if it doesn’t belong to him."
<"Ah, that’s why you call him a ’fake’ carnivore.">
"That was the first impression that I got when I met the fake carnivore for the first time. And when I met him again, I’m pretty sure all his skills were downgraded."
"Yeah. He feels like an average B-Class Hunter to me now. But, surprisingly, he remains an A-Class Hunter. So, tell me things about the fake carnivore that I won’t find online."
<"Lee Seodam awakened as a B-Class Hunter, and became an A-Class recently. His rapid growth was attributed to Park Ruda since they leveled up together. He’s known as APA’s new dog.">
Yejun scoffed. "He’s nothing compared to the old dog."
<"Don’t let your jealousy cloud your judgment, maknae-ah. Lee Seodam is a good Hunter. When APA swallowed the Winter Guild after you were locked up, it was Lee Seodam who raided the Cracks that appeared on your turf. Plus, the public loves him. Lee Seodam and Park Ruda, to be precise. Their ’ship’ is called ’SeoDa,’ if you’re interested in knowing.">
Yejun scoffed at the useless trivia that Song Moonho gave him.
And that reminded him of something.
Chu Wonhee is in distress, surrounded by a Hunter and a Guide marked by the System as ’Irregular!’>
That was what his Status Window said to him before.
It turned out that the ’Irregular’ Hunter and Guide that the System mentioned were Lee Seodam and Park Ruda, respectively.
<"Don’t be mad at Lee Seodam, maknae-ah. It’s not like he hurt Chu Wonhee on purpose. In fact, he did the right thing when he broke up with her after he decided to sleep with his Guide. Chu Wonhee was still a Civilian back then, and most Civilians can’t really handle a romantic relationship with a Hunter or a Guide.">
"That’s not the reason I don’t like the fake carnivore."
<"Ah, right. You find him suspicious.">
"The System called Lee Seodam and Park Ruda ’Irregulars.’"
<"Hwang Yejun, you stupid young man. Why are you only saying something that important now?"> Get full chapters from novel·fıre·net
"Well, we have different definitions of ’important.’ My brain deletes information that I don’t care about unless it suddenly becomes relevant like now–"
<"Let’s talk face-to-face tomorrow. I’ll run a background check on SeoDa first.">
Yejun flinched at Song Moonho’s dead serious tone. Like an adult berating a stupid child. It freaked him out so much that he found himself suddenly speaking formally to the old man. "Yes, sir..."
"GRAHAM-SSI will wake up in two hours, Oppa. Oh, you’ll pick him up? With the Summer Guild’s Vice Guildmaster? Then I’ll prepare dinner. No need? Ah, I see. Then I’ll wait."
After Wonhee talked to Soobin, she noticed that Yool and Ahyeon were looking at her.
To be precise, her lips.
[My swollen lips, that is.]
"You made out with Hwang Frost," Yool said bluntly. "He looks like he’d be a good kisser. Is he?"
Wonhee blushed, and then nodded shyly. "He is..."
Yool smirked smugly. "I knew it. I’ll use that information to good use."
She couldn’t help but laugh and shake her head.
[Yool is probably talking about his side hustle.]
"Noona, you’re surprisingly okay even after you shared a kiss with Hwang Frost-nim," Ahyeon commented, amazed. "In the past, the Guides that touched Hwang Frost-nim fainted after he drained all their energy. A kiss is more effective than skinship, so I imagined you would have at least fallen asleep..."
"I feel fine," Wonhee said, beaming. "Maybe it’s one of my perks as an S-Class Guide? Being a high-class Guide isn’t so bad, after all."
For some reason, Yool and Ahyeon suddenly turned gloomy.
"Noona, I wish you weren’t a high-class Guide..."
"Wony-ah, listen to me," Yool said in a serious tone. "The villain in the novel that stole Ahn Kisoo’s abilities has appeared in real life already. This is still a secret, but Ahn Kisoo actually lost his Guiding abilities. That’s probably why the System sent Graham-ssi to you."
"Noona, you should be careful," Ahyeon said worriedly. "That bad guy targets high-class Guides, and you’re an S-Class Guide."
That was why Yool and Ahyeon looked worried when Wonhee was celebrating the fact that she was an S-Class Guide.
"I’m racking my brain to remember hints that would lead us to the villain, but all I remember are useless pieces of information," Yool said, letting out a frustrated sigh. "Like how the villain would leave the scent of camellia flowers after stealing a Guide’s abilities."
Wonhee suddenly got the chills. "The villain smells like camellia flowers...?"
