Chapter 155: Chapter 155

YEJUN knew he was lucky that his parents awakened a year after he did.

His father awakened as an A-Class Hunter while his mother awakened as a B-Class Guide with only a few weeks in between.

Then, his triplet cousins who lost their parents because of a dungeon break, awakened as B-Class Hunters later. But the three didn’t stay as B-Class Hunters for long. Just a few months after they awakened, the triplets immediately leveled up to A-Class.

That was when Yejun decided to establish the Winter Guild.

As selfish as it might sound, he only did that to protect his family.

Building his own guild was better than being a slave to the government, after all.

Fortunately, the other three members of the Big 4 also decided to build their own guilds. His older members even named their guilds in a similar manner.

[Seriously, they don’t have originality in their bones.]

Soon, the Big 4’s guilds became collectively known as the Four Seasons because of their guilds’ names (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn).

Anyway, a year later, the government established APA.

That was when the Four Seasons slowly lost their power and influence to the government.

But that wasn’t the government’s fault, to be honest.

[It started when each member of the Big 4 began losing their minds.]

Worse, each of them also started getting involved in illegal activities.

As the Big 4 started to lose the faith of the general public because of their back-to-back scandals, APA’s popularity among the Civilians quickly increased.

It didn’t help that APA was good at scouting Hunters with a clean reputation.

Hunters that Civilians could trust confidently.

Kunwoo was just like that.

A former university professor who awakened as an A-Class Hunter, and was nurtured by APA until he reached S-Class.

Kunwoo was the Big 4’s bone in the throat.

"APA’s dog isn’t stronger than any of the Big 4, but for some reason, that bastard is hard to kill," Yejun said, his eyes shut tight while trying to suppress the Static in his head. "Kunwoo-ssi is just like you, Master." ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ novelꞁire.net

"That’s a backhanded compliment, you silly kid."

"It’s true, though," he insisted. "I’m stronger than Master, but I can’t kill you."

Yejun then opened his eyes.

Yeon Suk-yong, the former South Korean President, was sitting across from him while drinking his tea calmly.

The old man was only an A-Class Hunter.

[And yet I often lose to him during our sparring.]

That was how Yejun was forced to call Yeon Suk-yong ’Master.’

"You lose to me because you’re a stupid brat."

"All I have to do is provoke you a little, and you immediately lose focus," Yeon Suk-yong added, laughing. "I bet Kunwoo also has a good time toying with you during your fights."

"What? Are you already upset?"

"Master, this isn’t the right time to provoke me," Yejun said, sighing. Every time he was pissed, the Static in his head would only get louder. "I need to talk to you while I’m still sober."

Only then did Yeon Suk-yong take him seriously. "Are you really about to snap? What about accepting Kim Bora’s help, then? It’s not recommended for a Hunter and a Guide with a low matching rate to proceed with Advanced Treatment, and I wouldn’t personally recommend it either. However, aren’t we running out of options here?"

"No, I won’t get Advanced Treatment from Kim Bora even if I die."

"This country will collapse if we lose you, Hwang Frost."

"I’m more of a threat than a protector of our country now, Master," Yejun said, smiling bitterly. "Once I snap, APA will immediately send Kunwoo to eliminate me."

"Kunwoo wouldn’t be able to apprehend you during your berserk state."

"Song Moonho would definitely come as Kunwoo’s backup."

His master looked shocked. "Song Moonho? But he’s a part of the Big 4."

"We’re not friends, so we don’t need to stay loyal to each other just because we’re from the same group. And that old bastard works with APA when it’s convenient."

"If Kunwoo and Song Moonho joined forces..."

"Yeah, I’m dead meat."

Yeon Suk-yong fell silent for a moment. "What do you want me to do for you, then?"

"Once I lose control, APA will definitely seize the Winter Guild," Yejun said in a serious tone. "Master, when that happens, please use your influence to send my family to France."

"It won’t be easy even for me," his master said. "APA will surely work the Winter Guild Hunters to the bone once they take over the Winter Guild."

"I know that, and that’s why I already asked the Soline Guild to pay what they owe me by sending help."

"How would the Soline Guild help?"

"Once they get the chance, the Soline Guild will pressure APA to send a team to "assist" them in raiding dungeons in their country," Yejun said, tapping his fingertips on the table. "APA accepted a bribe from the Soline Guild when they smuggled monster skin out of Korea before. So, if the Soline Guild uses their cards right, it will be easy for them to pressure Kwon Jiwoong. When that happens, please make sure that APA will choose my family to send to France."

"Alright, I’ll do it," Yeon Suk-yong said after a long pause, and then he gave Yejun a sharp look. "But, in return, I want you to protect a precious child for me once you recover."

It was funny how his master believed that he could still recover even without a Guide.

However, he appreciated that faith.

Yejun smiled his last genuine smile before he snapped. "Master Yeon Suk-yong, if I ever recover as you said, I will protect that precious child you speak of with my life."

Yejun, while his parents were busy introducing themselves to Wonhee, stepped back quietly to approach his master.

He suddenly remembered the last conversation they had before he snapped a year ago.

To be precise, he recalled their promise.

"Master, was it Chu Wonhee?" Yejun asked quietly, grinning. "The precious child whom you wanted me to protect with my life?"

The fact that Yeon Suk-yong couldn’t say anything only meant one thing.

Yejun chuckled, and then he put his hand over his chest. "I’ll take care of Chu Wonhee forever, Grandpa."

"I’m not your grandpa," Grandpa Suk-yong said. "And I take it back– I’m not entrusting my precious daughter to a thief like you, Hwang Yejun!"

"It’s too late, Grandpa for that– way, way too late~"
