Chapter 148: Chapter 148
"I DON’T know if I should find this funny or creepy," Semi said while shaking her head. "The old computer monitors must be the System’s symbol."
Soobin nodded in agreement. "That seems to be the case."
"I believe it’s safe to assume that this is the hide-out of a group that worships the System," Graham said, pulling out what seemed like a priest’s robe from his inventory. "Captain Lee Jiho found this and surrendered it to me earlier. This robe has the church’s name embroidered on the sleeves. Apparently, it belongs to the Systema Church."
"Systema Church?" Song Moonho asked curiously. "That group is known as the least problematic out of all the churches that worship the System. According to my investigation, the System Church isn’t backed up by a sketchy individual or a big, bad corporation. In fact, most members have normal jobs from poor and middle-class families. That’s why I don’t understand how that church could possibly build a shrine right below the president’s residence."
Now that was suspicious.
Semi couldn’t disregard what Song Moonho said because Song Moonho had the best information network among them. "If what you said is true, then it’s also possible that another church framed up the Systema Church since the Systema Church doesn’t have a powerful backup. Having said that, we still can’t completely say that the System Church is innocent just because they have ’normal’ members. Hence, a proper investigation is due. Can you dig up more information related to the Systema Church?"
"Gladly," Song Moonho said, smiling. "In fact, I already have the perfect spy whom I can send to infiltrate the Systema Church."
Whoever that person was, Semi already felt sorry for them.
[Song Moonho is the type to use innocent people as disposable pawns.]
But that was none of her business.
"Alright. We’ll leave the investigation to you then," Semi said to Song Moonho, and then she turned to Graham. "Let’s look around one more time before you burn the entire place, Graham."
Graham saluted to Semi. "Got it, Noona!"
"Can I leave this thing to the Big 4?"
Everyone turned to Soobin.
"I have to sit this one out," Soobin explained when he saw their questioning looks. "My husband and I are already working on a huge case."
Semi knitted her eyebrows. "What case?"
"We already found the drugged Guides that APA sent to Hwang Yejun before, and we also have a lead to Actress Choi Sumin’s whereabouts," Soobin said. "The two cases are related, so we’re trying to wrap it up as soon as possible. If we do this right, then we’ll finally get hard evidence of Kwon Jiwoong’s involvement with the release of Forced Awakening drugs in the market."
That was nice to hear.
Song Moonho whistled as if he was also impressed. "Does it mean it’s time for the Big 4 to finally bring down Kwon Jiwoong?"
"The old dog is back, so we have to bring down Kwon Jiwoong now before APA’s power grows bigger," Soobin said in a serious tone. "As soon as Hwang Yejun restores his position as the Winter Guild’s Guildmaster, we’ll attack Kwon Jiwoong."
"Is it enough time for you and Geon to gather evidence of Kwon Jiwoong’s involvement with the Forced Awakening drugs?"
Soobin nodded confidently. "I think so, Noona."
"Then we’ll entrust that to you," Semi said, pausing for a moment before she spoke again. "The timing is good. Remember the sample that you sent to me, Soobin-ah?"
She was talking about the weapon that the Anti-System Faction that attacked Wonhee at the penthouse used.
Soobin, the Blacksmith God, didn’t find anything strange about the weapon.
But Semi found something interesting in the bullet that was used, and the result of her test would come out soon.
[We suspect it’s the same bullet that caused Ahn Kisoo to lose his Guiding abilities.]
"Graham, bring Ahn Kisoo to my house the day after tomorrow," Semi said when she remembered something. "We’ll finish the potion to bring back Ahn Kisoo’s Guiding abilities as soon as our Hee-ya has had enough rest."
"Oh!" Graham’s face beamed. "Thank you, Noona!"
Yool was satisfied with his work.
He couldn’t leave Song Moonho’s mansion because the Hunter-bodyguards around the house prevented him from leaving.
[A frail Civilian like me can’t fight them.]
So, he decided to get his revenge.
First, he filled Song Moonho’s expensive refrigerator with three foods that Song Moonho couldn’t eat: mint chocolate ice cream, (frozen) chicken feet, and banana milk.
[According to the novel, of course.]
Second, he filled Song Moonho’s bedroom with huge teddy bears and dolls– those dolls with huge eyes that would blink and make a sound when moved.
[I hope those creepy dolls give him nightmares.]
He also bought exactly one hundred little duck toys and hid them in different parts of the house.
[I’ll give him a reward if he finds them all.]
The last ’surprise’ that he prepared for Song Moonho was a bit different.
[I bought them with my own card, and they will be delivered once I’m out of here.]
"We’re not dating yet and you’re already redesigning my house according to your taste?"
Yool, who was placing a small cactus in a pot on the bedside table, flinched when he heard Song Moonho’s voice.
[He’s really like a ghost...]
He looked over his shoulder to scold the old man, but his brain buffered. Follow current ɴᴏᴠᴇʟs on novel•fire.net
Song Moonho was leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed over his chest. His jacket was draped over his arm, and the sleeves of his button-down shirt were rolled up. Hence, his sexy forearms were exposed.
It should be illegal for an old man like him to be that handsome and fit.
[He would have been perfect if he had a nice personality.]
Yool picked up the cactus and showed it to Song Moonho. "Can’t you read what’s written in here?"
"’Fuck you,’" Song Moonho said, reading the phrase written on the pot. And then the perverted old man checked out Yool’s body with lustful eyes. "Yeah, I’d totally fuck you, Yool-ssi."
"I knew it," Yool said, putting the pot back on the bedside table. Then he covered his torso with his arms. "You’re lusting after my immaculate body."
Song Moonho looked at Yool and smiled. "I am."
He didn’t expect the old man to be that blunt.
"I should go," Yool said bluntly. "I feel like my chastity is being threatened here."
"Stay here for the night, Yool-ssi."
"Can you infiltrate the Systema Church for us?"
[That sounds familiar... oh!]
"Isn’t that the church you said Maru is a member of?"
"Yes, that’s your favorite singer’s church," Song Moonho said while entering the bedroom. Then he sat on the sofa, leaned against the backrest, and crossed his legs. "We found an ominous shrine right below President Ma’s residence at the Blue House. The things left in the shrine suggested that the shrine belongs to the Systema Church."
"Aside from building a shrine below the president’s residence, did they do other illegal things?"
"That’s what I need you to find out, Yool-ssi."
"Why me? I’m just a Civilian."
"Because Chu Wonhee loves you," Song Moonho said, shrugging. "Every person that Chu Wonhee treasures seems to have good luck, just like how Hunter Do Ahyeon jumped from being a C-Class Hunter to being an S-Class Hunter. So, I figured our investigation would proceed more quickly if I put you on the job."
That sounded really convincing.
[And I really want to help Wony.]
After all, he felt bad that his diaries were rendered useless because his best friend wanted to protect him.
[I should at least do something else for Wony.]
"Maru actually asked me to feature in his new single," Yool said, sitting on the bed because he knew they would be having a long talk now. "I should grab that opportunity to get close to Maru and somehow make him introduce me to the Systema Church, right?"
He didn’t want to do idol-related works like Gong Yool because he was already so done with idol life.
But it couldn’t be helped this time.
Song Moonho smiled and nodded. "Yool-ssi, just for the record, it’s not only your body– I also find your brain sexy."
