Chapter 146: Chapter 146
"HEE-YA, what did the System say?"
Wonhee glanced at Geon.
Her brother-in-law looked worried about her.
She woke up in an unfamiliar room, but didn’t panic because of the familiar faces that greeted him.
[I swear I felt like I was with Tannie earlier, but he was not here when I woke up.]
"Did the System ask you to do something outrageous again?" Soobin asked worriedly. "If it’s too much for you, tell the System to forget it."
It wasn’t something Wonhee could do.
[Even if it’s hard, I have to do my best as an S-Class Guide and share my tremendous luck with the world.]
"Soobin Oppa, Geon Oppa, I remember Hunter Lee Seodam pushing me," Wonhee said carefully. "I thought Hunter Lee Seodam was secretly a villain all this time. But the System is asking me to purify him. So, that means he’s not a villain. May I know what’s going on?"
She didn’t get the chance to ask Yejun about what happened.
In fact, she couldn’t remember how she got there.
[I think I fainted while talking to Bitna. Maybe my Mana Tank got drained suddenly?]
"Hee-ya, listen," Soobin said in a serious tone. "Lee Seodam has become the host for the Virus that threatens to end the System."
Then her older brother proceeded in explaining everything that had happened ever since she disappeared.
[So, Yejun almost killed Seodam-ssi for my sake...]
She knew that violence was bad and she shouldn’t support it.
But, secretly, Wonhee was happy to know that Yejun was willing to kill for her.
[That’s a bad thought, isn’t it?]
"You said the System asked you to purify Hunter Lee Seodam," Geon said worriedly. "I didn’t know Guides could do that."
Soobin clenched his jaw. "It’s obvious, Geon. The System is overworking Hee-ya."
"If it’s something that I can do, then I’ll do it," Wonhee said firmly. "Seodam-ssi was just the host of the Virus. If the System wants to save him, then it means he’s not a villain– he’s a victim. I wish to save him because it will be our country’s loss if we let a high-ranking Hunter like him get taken away by the Virus."
Of course, her older brother and brother-in-law didn’t look convinced.
[They’re probably worried about my feelings since Seodam-ssi is my ex-boyfriend.]
"Soobin Oppa, Geon Oppa, I’m really fine. I can separate my personal life from my work life," Wonhee said gently. "Plus, I’m not that ignorant. I may have lived as a Civilian for a long time, but that doesn’t mean I don’t understand what’s going on in the Awakened World. So, I know that the bigger and stronger countries led by World Rankers are trying to expand their influence by invading smaller and weaker nations "quietly." Korea might be their next target after Hwang Frost "disappeared," so we can’t afford to lose a high-ranking Hunter like Seodam-ssi. Especially since he has become the face of APA lately."
And APA was the symbol of peace in Korea.
If their people found out that Lee Seodam had become the host of the Virus that wanted to end the System, then the South Korean government would be criticized heavily and lose its morale in the process.
That was the worst thing that could happen.
[Our country regained peace and order faster than the other countries because our people put their complete faith in APA and the Big 4.]
That faith was already broken when Hwang Yejun snapped.
[For the same reason we can’t expose Kwon Jiwoong yet, we can’t let people find out that their beloved Hunter Lee Seodam has become the host of a deadly Virus.]
APA must continue being the symbol of peace and order in Korea.
Because their country had to appear united to make the invaders back off.
"Our Hee-ya is really no longer a baby," Soobin said, gently patting Wonhee’s head. "Alright. Do what you want. But get an apology from Lee Seodam first. I don’t care if he was out of his mind when he pushed you– he still owes you an apology."
"Your oppa is right, Hee-ya," Geon added, also patting Wonhee’s head gently. "Always make sure that at least Hwang Yejun is with you when you’re purifying Hunter Lee Seodam. Never get alone with him."
Wonhee smiled and nodded. "I understand, Geon Oppa. Soobin Oppa."
She contemplated whether she should share the memory that she retrieved while she was asleep.
[About Ruda-ssi asking me to help him before he erased my memories.]
But before she could even make a decision, her Status Window suddenly popped up again.
GUIDE CHU WONHEE, GO AND PURIFY HUNTER LEE SEODAM NOW!]
"Oppa," Wonhee said, grabbing Soobin’s hand because Soobin had the ability to teleport. "Please bring me to where Seodam-ssi is!"
IT HAPPENED after Kwon Jiwoong left the apartment.
Do Ahyeon yelled for help.
When Yejun and his fellow Big 4 members immediately headed over the room where the fake carnivore was locked up. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ novel~fire~net
And then they saw it.
Lee Seodam kneeling on the floor while clutching his head tight– his red eyes glowing and his body emitting dark fog.
That dark fog melted Do Ahyeon’s S-Grade barrier effortlessly.
Yejun clicked his tongue. "Let’s just kill that dude."
He said that half-heartedly, but someone took it seriously.
Park Ruda blocked their way and threatened them. "Seodam will be fine," he said confidently. "We just need Chu Wonhee–"
"For someone who hates Chu Wonhee’s kindness, you sure depend on her kindness a lot," Yejun said, grabbing Park Ruda by the collar. "We were taught to value A-Class Guides like you, Park Ruda. But don’t test my patience. I can kill you if I want to– even if it means getting hated by the entire country again."
"It was the System," Park Ruda said, grabbing Yejun’s arm weakly. "Seodam told me that the System informed him that Chu Wonhee can purify him."
"My baby sister?" Semi asked in disbelief. "A Guide can purify people?"
"Hunters with > like me are rare," Graham said, amazed. "Is Chu Wonhee really a Guide or a Hunter?"
"That’s why Chu Wonhee is interesting," Song Moonho chimed in. "Not as interesting as Gong Yool, though."
Graham glared at Song Monhoo. "Leave my Yool alone."
"Yool-ssi isn’t yours, kid."
"Neither is he yours, old man."
Yejun ignored Graham and Song Moonho fighting because he felt the sudden shift in the air. "Someone is coming."
Everyone immediately raised their guard.
In just the blink of an eye, Yeon Soobin appeared...
... while carrying Wonhee in his arms.
Yejun immediately beamed, letting go of Park Ruda and his anger immediately. "You’re awake, Wonhee-ya..."
He trailed because of what happened next.
Wonhee ignored Yejun and ran towards Lee Seodam.
[That breaks my heart a little...]
But Yejun didn’t have the time to sulk.
All of a sudden, a transparent cube trapped Wonhee and Lee Seodam inside.
Everyone in the room, except for Park Ruda, immediately ran towards the cube.
But the talking orange, in its tangerine form, appeared and blocked them.
"IT’S OKAY!" the talking orange said. "CHU WONHEE IS HERE FOR LEE SEODAM!"
Yejun clicked his tongue, annoyed. "I don’t like the sound of it."
