Chapter 101: Chapter 101
["CHU WONHEE has gone crazy! I knew she was a crazy bitch! She’s showing her true colors now that she awakened as a high-class Guide! How could she look down on someone else’s profession? Does she think she has the right to insult another person’s way of making a living just because she’s rich?! The reporter is just doing his job!"]
Of course, not everyone was happy with how Chu Wonhee handled the problem with Reporter Bang.
The top post on a famous gossip site criticized Chu Wonhee heavily.
["IKR? I understand she’s upset because of the malicious articles written about her. But she’s a celebrity, and that’s the price she has to pay for being famous. Don’t people like her enjoy attention anyway? She should suck it up. LOL."]
But the "critics," trolls, and anti-fans failed to realize something important.
Chu Wonhee was a refined person who never paid attention to bad comments and articles written about her, and that quality of hers was what drew half of the fandom to her.
So, her fandom remained quiet all this time as a way of respecting their idol’s silence.
But now that Chu Wonhee had finally stood up for herself for the first time in her career...
["Celebrities enjoy attention" or "they chose to be famous" got to be the lamest excuse to engage in despicable behavior. "The reporter was just doing his job" according to the OP. Seriously? Tell me what you’re willing to do under the guise of "it’s not against the law" without telling me."]
["I’m not even a fan of Chu Wonhee but I agree with her. Gossip reporters are not like journalists who do important work such as exposing corruption, crime, atrocities, etc. Gossip reporters make money by destroying celebrities’ lives and careers by making up lies. If you respect that kind of person, you have no self-respect."]
["I understand stalking celebrities is a "job," but I can’t bring myself to respect those kinds of journalists. Are they even considered ’journalists?’ Anyway, following people around with a camera while those people are just minding their business got to be illegal. What right do they have to invade other people’s privacy? Celebrities are humans, too."]
That was the moment Chu Wonhee’s anti-fans realized that most of Chu Wonhee’s real fans were calm and eloquent.
The top reply to the OP’s original post was a little aggressive, though.
It was a direct attack on Reporter Bang.
["Reporter Bang isn’t a hardworking "journalist" who wants to give his family a better life. He used to be a journalist before he quit and built Eyepatch with his former boss because, apparently, it’s "easier to make money feeding the gossip world with juicy tidbits." Moreover, he personally said that he "gets a kick out of knocking celebrities off their pedestal." According to the man himself, "it’s fun negotiating with company presidents" so that he’d stop releasing their artists’ dating scandal. Attached below is the link to the podcasts where Reporter Bang said the things that I mentioned.
That thing (Reporter Bang, of course) was also caught bragging about how he built his fortune thanks to Chu Wonhee. Apparently, Chu Wonhee is his favorite celebrity because she has many haters, and those haters would obsess over his videos whenever he talks about her. The video that his friend took when he was talking shit about Chu Wonhee was taken down right away, but I saved a copy. I’m attaching the video below this post.
See? Chu Wonhee wasn’t exaggerating when she said Reporter Bang should thank her for paying his bills.
This isn’t related to Chu Wonhee, but I also attached the link to the podcast where he sexualized teen trainees and talked about how "he likes them young." If you remember, Eyepatch was under fire months ago for posting inappropriate pictures of idols who are still minors.
Anyway, in conclusion, Chu Wonhee didn’t look down on Reporter Bang’s profession– she just called him out for his disgusting behavior as a so-called reporter."]
The top reply that got thousands of upvotes belonged to Yool’s burner account.
[As a former top idol celebrity myself, watching Wonhee destroy that disgusting reporter is as refreshing as drinking cider.]
And, so, he went all out protecting Wonhee from bad comments.
Billie (the manager) and Momo (the stylist) were also passionately defending Wonhee on the internet through their phones.
Yool was about to relax, but another issue came up.
["But don’t you think Chu Wonhee was too much for bringing up Reporter Bang’s family? Especially his kids. What if they get bullied because of this?"]
That was a legitimate concern.
But Wonhee wouldn’t have mentioned the reporter’s children if the children were innocent.
[Those "kids" deserve to be bullied.]
In the novel, it was Graham who brought down Reporter Bang– because that damned reporter leaked the news of Ahn Kisoo losing his Guiding abilities– by exposing Reporter Bang’s problematic children.
Yool told Wonhee how problematic the reporter’s children were last year, but Wonhee never weaponized that information because Wonhee believed that Graham should expose it the way he did in the novel.
[But Ahn Kisoo lost his Guiding abilities earlier than it did in the novel, and the news about it hasn’t been leaked yet. So, Graham doesn’t have a reason to destroy Reporter Bang.]
Hence, Yool decided to do it himself.
[This is the power of a Transmigrator who discovered this world within the pages of a popular BL novel!]
["Do you remember the bullying case where a male high school student allegedly bullied a classmate by beating him up everyday until the victim took his own life? The bully only got a slap on the wrist, sadly. In fact, he even cursed out the victim for almost ruining his life just because the victim "only got hit a few times." Check the link attached below to watch the documentary about it."]
Yes, Reporter Bang’s son was an irredeemable piece of shit.
["How about the crazy female student who made money by selling off the private schedules, flight details, addresses, and phone numbers of low-ranking Guides? She only sold private information of low-ranking Guides who can’t protect themselves on their own. Because of her, several Guides were ambushed and assaulted. Guess how the perpetrator got those pieces of confidential information in the first place? Yes, from her father who stalks celebrities all day. Check the link below for more information."]
Yool smirked after posting his comments that immediately went viral.
[You don’t mess with our Wony 2.0 version and get away with it easily.]
"MISS CHU Wonhee is a natural S-Class Guide."
Wonhee was a bit nervous after revealing her class level to everyone.
Fortunately, Geon stood beside her and explained as the director of the National Guide Center.
"The National Guide Center has the best equipment to determine an awakened Guide’s level," Geon said, and then he pointed at his eyes. "Moreover, the fact that Miss Chu was able to guide Hunter Graham during an emergency is already proof that she’s a natural S-Class."
"APA has also confirmed that our Hee-ya– I mean, Miss Chu, is an S-Class Guide," Soobin added. "The first one to awaken as one."
A reporter raised his hand. "Will Miss Chu be working for APA then?"
"For now, Miss Chu is under the custody of NGC since it’s what newly awakened Guides often has to do," Geon said. "Miss Chu will decide where to go next after a few months."
"But, of course, APA believes Miss Chu would be a great addition to our line of high-class Guides," President Kwon Jiwoong said. "Miss Chu is welcome to join APA anytime."
Wonhee, acting professional, smiled and bowed to the APA President. "Thank you for thinking highly of me, President Kwon."
Fortunately, another reporter asked a new question.
"Miss Chu, are you looking to be an exclusive Guide to a high-ranking Hunter?"
"I already have one," Wonhee said cheerfully. "Yejun-ah?"
"You called, Wonhee-ya?"
She smiled when Yejun appeared beside her with a bright look on his face.
[Plus his eyes are orange-y and not dark red.]
Wonhee faced the press and the audience again.
As expected, everyone was silent.
Even the reporters had stopped taking pictures.
Everyone had the same look on their faces– and it was fear.
[I don’t want Yejun to get hurt by their reactions...]
"Hwang Yejun and I..." Wonhee said, and then she paused to hold Yejun’s hand. "Hwang Yejun and I have a one hundred percent matching rate."
A collective gasp followed her revelation.
"I know that most of you are scared of Yejun right now because his last rampage caused a lot of damage. Many Civilians were also hurt," Wonhee said softly. "But Yejun wishes to return as Korea’s #1 Hunter. The only way to atone for his sins is to save as many Civilians as he has hurt. Please give Yejun– no, Hunter Hwang Frost a second chance."
She then bowed her head politely.
Much to Wonhee’s pleasant surprise, Yejun also bowed his head.
The entire hall suddenly felt colder.
[Everyone got more scared...?]
"I can’t undo my mistakes, and I can’t force everyone to forgive me," Yejun said bluntly. "The only thing that I can do right now is to come back and continue protecting this country again. Like what Wonhee said, I’ll save more lives than I’ve hurt. So, watch me."
Wonhee squeezed Yejun’s hand, so proud of him for his bravery to own up to his mistakes. "I’ve been Guiding Hunter Hwang Frost ever since I awakened as a Guide. As you can see, he’s sober now. And he’s getting better." She put a hand over her chest. "I promise to work harder to bring Hunter Hwang Frost back the soonest."
Fortunately, the reaction this time had changed.
The people still looked a bit scared, but they clapped their hands as if they were relieved by Wonhee’s promise.
"Everyone, get out of here."
Wonhee was shocked by what Yejun said.
When she turned to him, she was confused when she saw him looking up at the ceiling.
"Evacuate– now," Yejun said in a quiet voice. "A Special-Grade Crack is about to burst open above us."
That threw people into a panic.
"Everyone, calm down," Soobin said calmly. "APA Hunters will guide you to a safe place, so please follow them orderly. The Big 4 is here, so what are you worried about?"
Most people who panicked quickly calmed down as if they just remembered that the Big 4 was there.
[It’s probably because the Big 4 members have been suppressing their presence.]
"The Big 4 will take care of the Crack," Kwon Jiwoong announced. "APA will be in charge of everyone’s safety. Now, let’s all get moving." The APA President then turned to Wonhee. "Miss Chu, please evacuate with us."
"I’ll stay with the Big 4," Wonhee said politely. "Yejun needs me, President Kwon."
"I see," President Kwon said, and then he motioned someone to come to him with a flick of his finger. "Then I’ll leave Hunter Lee Seodam by your side."
"Well..." Yejun said, wrapping an arm around Wonhee’s waist. "If the fake carnivore can keep up, then he’s free to tag along."
And then Wonhee was spirited away by Yejun.
WONHEE took a deep breath when she found herself standing on the blue roof of the Blue House.
She was a bit scared of heights, so she clung to Yejun for dear life.
"You can’t do this, Yejun-ah," Wonhee scolded him. "And you can’t just pick a fight with APA like that."
Yejun tilted his head to one side, acting cute. "Sorry?"
[He really lives by his life motto that it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission!]
"Hwang Yejun, you bastard."
Soobin finally arrived with Semi, Graham, and Lee Seodam.
[Oppa probably grabbed Seodam Oppa to avoid President Kwon’s anger.]
Song Moonho manifested out of thin air a little later.
"You can’t just disappear like that with our baby sister," Semi scolded Yejun. "Do that again and I’ll poison you, Hwang Frost."
Yejun gulped before he nodded. "Gotcha, Noona."
"How long before the Crack bursts open, maknae-ah?" Graham asked excitedly. "It’s a Special Grade, right? It’s been so long since a Special-Grade Crack appeared~"
Wonhee met Lee Seodam’s gaze and saw that he was looking at her quietly while standing next to Soobin as if he couldn’t approach her.
She wanted to apologize to Seodam for the trouble, but she got distracted.
Wonhee turned to the person who called her. "Yes, Song Moonho-ssi?" ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ novel·fiɾe·net
"I talked to your bodyguard, Do Ahyeon, before I got here," Song Moonho said. "I’m sorry, but I asked Do Ahyeon to bring Gong Yool out without your permission. He really looked conflicted, so please don’t scold him for following my order."
"Of course, I won’t do that," Wonhee said politely. "Thank you for caring about my friends, Moonho-ssi."
Song Moonho just smiled and nodded.
"All of you, leave– make sure to protect Wonhee."
Wonhee turned to Yejun, confused by what he said.
Yejun was staring into the air, obviously looking at his Status Window.
"You have ten seconds," Yejun said, growling at them while looking up in the sky and raising his hands. "Go!"
Wonhee was surprised when Soobin suddenly grabbed her by the waist...
... and, the next thing she knew, she was already on the ground– staring at a gigantic iceberg falling from the sky, the huge crack in the middle swallowing up a familiar figure as the alarm around the Blue House rang loudly.
"IT’S DONE– Hwang Frost was gobbled up by the Crack designed to kill him~ Our Engineers are really great~ I respect them~"
[Why am I stuck with this lunatic?]
Park Ruda silently watched the video of Hwang Frost getting absorbed by the Special-Grade Crack, ignoring his companion. Only the two of them were in that dark room, but it was easy to pretend the lunatic wasn’t there.
"What should we do next? Notice me, sunbae~"
Ruda turned to the hooded figure standing next to him. "Was Ahn Kisoo a good test subject?"
"Yes~ My bullets got an upgrade thanks to Ahn Kisoo~ He’s Korea’s #1 Guide, indeed~"
"Right~" His companion grinned, his red eyes turning into little crescent moons as he flashed his set of white teeth– fangs and all. "Can I break Chu Wonhee next?"
Park Ruda turned his back on his companion. "That sounds fun."
THE FAINT smell of camellia flowers lingered in the air.
It was a scent that Wonhee wouldn’t mistake for something else.
According to the Big 4, the Special-Grade Crack seemed to have been designed for solo attackers.
For some reason, the Crack "chose" Yejun.
[It can’t be a coincidence.]
Yejun had been targeted.
[This is driving me crazy.]
The only thing that was keeping Wonhee sane was the message that Yejun sent to her Status Window:
<"Wonhee-ya, gimme a French kiss when I come out, okay?">
She sent Yejun a reply, but the System said Yejun might not be able to receive it because of the strange energy inside the Crack.
But she was hoping that the System was more powerful than the Crack.
"You better come out alive, Hwang Yejun," Wonhee whispered to herself in a cracked voice while wiping the tears that silently rolled down her cheeks. "If you don’t come out in seven days, I’ll force the System to bring me to where you are."
