Chapter 32: Chapter 32
"Hey."
Mum's soft voice echoes through the room. It sound broken just as she look and I hate to see the distress on her face. Sealing the last of the letters scattered on the table that's to be sent to the pack houses with missing pack members and my condolence. I look at her, though with grace and elegance but she look like ten years was taken from her. It really pained me I'm the cause of her frail spirit.
"Hey." I didn't really know what to say back. Still not over the fact that they lied to me.
The tension was just too thick to be cut with a knife, a blunt one at that. I just look at her shifting from one foot to the other trying to cut the tension.
"Can we talk? That's if you're not busy." I watch her eyes beg me almost tearing up and my heart just broke. I'm causing her pains but she caused me more.
"Sure." I wait for her to say something but she just look solemnly at me.
"Can we take a walk outside? I need air." I nod brushing invincible wrinkles on my gown meeting her.
The silence was just deafening. Almost too unbearable. We just kept walking buried in the depths of our thoughts.
"Why did you keep it from me?" My face stoic looking ahead and I heard her sigh.
"I'm sorry Daisy." I frown. That's not what I want to hear. I need an explanation, I deserve an explanation.
"We did it for your protection." And that pissed me off.
"Just stop it Mum!" She look taken aback as tears trickle down her eyes. I was beyond frustrated and angry.
"Just answer me! Where you ever gonna tell me I'm a witch. Oh sorry, a powerful sorceress!" Now the tears were just flowing uncontrollably. I needed answers to justify their claims.
"Daisy, I'm your mother and no mother will ever want to have her child taken from her or get hurt. Hate me all you want but I'll never regret keeping you from the truth." shye wipe her tears which didn't seem to stop.
"Your father and I did what we thought best to keep you safe."
"Is that what this is? Keeping me safe." I scoff. "Is that why he kept training me? Telling me that I'm special."
"Yes." I wipe my blurry tears noticing we were on the castle grounds near a water fountain.
"I was not supposed to be the Princess, well Queen. It was to be my step sister, I was taken in by the kind family when I was little. The love me like their own but my sister nursed a deep hatred for me and I didn't know why." She continues and I just listened.
"I'm a fire element. I can control fire. And so can my sister but darkness filled her soul. Mum and Dad soon noticed and tried to help her but she got mad saying they always favoured me. She had an eye for your father but he fell for me. Then it got worse." She chokes. I took her hand in mine rubbing soothingly.
"After each magic practice with mum and dad, she'll force me to teach her since they refused knowing she'll hurt someone with it. She would hurt me if I didn't and then threaten to take our parents away and your father from me. I didn't have anyone one else, no family,
nothing. I was scared and did but not all I taught her." My heart just broke as I sobbed silently.
"One day she caught your father and I when he ask me to marry him and it got her furious. I went home to tell your grandparents the good news. They were happy for me and gave me their blessings. Just then my sister came in shouting and screaming that she won't allow it. She blamed me for every misfortune that happened to her and why our parents love me more than her." Her hands began to shake but I held on.
"They tried to talk her out of it but she was already far too gone to the darkness. In anger sh- she...she killed our parents." My breathe cut in my throat. A loud gasp escape covering my mouth in my palms to stop from screaming as tears rolled down my eyes watching my mother sob uncontrollably.
"She burnt them alive. In front of me. I could hear their screams with her laughing as their bodies burnt to ashes. I ran out of the house scared and horrified. I knew she wouldn't rest until I'm also dead so I ran to your father and told him what happened. He took me to his home to meet his father, our leader. I told him all that took place and a search party was sent to find my sister and bring her to justice. But the couldn't find her."
"She disappeared with no trace. Weeks later I got married to your father, the love of my life. Soon we got blessed with our little one, our Daisy." She caress my wet cheeks. "We named you after my dear mother and the Daisy was her favourite flower. She call it the Dawn of a new hope." We both chuckle amidst tears.
"We got scared and kept you hidden with the exception of your father best friend who was the Were King and his Queen that became the closest person to me after I lost my family. On your first birthday we threw a Grande party for you. We thought that after two years my sister will get back her sanity and let go of her grudge against me. Your father invited his allies, friends and covens nationwide. Everyone was surprised that the young warlock is married and have a child. You were just glowing, laughing and babbling. Many kings offered their sons to you on your eighteenth birthday even your Father's best friend King Devon and Queen Izbelle." I chuckle watching her eyes glimmer with excitement telling how glorious that day was.
"You had the eyes of every family begging to have you for their son. It was like a charm. The best gifts placed at my feet as I cuddled you close with your father beside me. It couldn't be more enchanting. The fairies gifted you beauty, the elves wisdom, the merfolks gave you power of sea which was rare to non merfolkes. That's why your eyes has gold in those brown orbs. Then our allies the vamps and weres. As a mother I couldn't be more happy."
Happy tears trial down her face and the joy she express match her glowing eyes.
"But that night...that night ruined it all for us. My sister came back and attacked. Her magic stronger than what it was. People died that night trying to save you. You father had to clone some bodies to fake our death teleporting us to the human world. To save you, to save me...to save us."
"We didn't mean to cause you pain Daisy bear. You're all I have and I couldn't risk it. I lost my family twice and I couldn't lose any other the third time.' she sniffles meeting my eyes. 'We changed country every time people noticed we weren't aging much or your powers was noticed. Years turned to decades and then centuries your power grew stronger until we finally came back to Philly."
"I'm a bad mother. I couldn't protect my child and I took the cowards way out."
"No you didn't mum. You saved me. You saved us. I'm sorry I lashed out on you. Please forgive me." I sobbed on her thighs.
"Look at me Daisy." and I did. "You have every right to be mad and I don't hold it know you. I never did. I just pray that you find it in your heart to forgive your mother." She cries wiping my tears away.
I understand a mothers love will go at any length to protect her child.
*I'm so sorry Mum. I understand why you did it and I hope you can forgive me." I sobbed.
"I love you Daisy bear."
"I love you too Mum." She pull me to her warm embrace crying on my shoulders. After some minutes holding each other we both pull away.
I watch her eyes glimmer with hope.
We just sat in silence looking at nothing, lost in thoughts. It was a good silence and one without that awkward tension.
I can't believe she suffered this long and I was just selfish enough to be blinded by anger. I really need that daughter of the year Award.
"You know when you were little, you love when I make fire balls cause you love playing with them. It help you calm down wherever you throw a fit. But your favourite is the dancing fire figures. You gave this little babbles and squeals." She smiles.
I look at her smiling imagining little ol' me making a fuss.
"Really?! And here I am thinking I was such an Angel." I fake pout and she snickered. "Was I a mess?" Loving her laugh.
"Oh you were a huge mess with lots of trouble young lady." We laugh out. "But you had the sweetest soul inside that devious mind." I shrug cockily watching her hand unfold.
A fiery orange flame appear, burning afloat in her palms. She hums a tune I'm well used to as the flames transformed into dancing a man and woman.
"This is your father and I. When we first met, he taught me how to dance. Funny but romantic." She smiles looking at the dancing flame in a daze.
"Normal men ask their girl out or take her on a date but your father arrogantly said "will you dance with me?" I was embarrassed because I never learnt how to dance and he gave that sexy laugh saying I should follow his lead." Her face heats up and I couldn't help but laugh at her fangirling.
The dancing male twirl the woman before dipping her low which she smile shyly as he brought her up throwing a wink and they continued dancing.
"He was and still is a great dancer. Such a hopeless romantic he is." We both laugh.
"But don't tell him I said so." She snickered as I chuckle.
"Don't tell me what? I heard you already so out with it before I get mad." Our eyes look to dad walking towards us with fake frown on his face. Getting closer, he envelope us in a tight hug.
"My favorite girls!" he squishes us in his big arms, we squeal trying to break free as he laugh at our struggle for air.
"We're your only girls Dad." I say.
"And?" He retorts trying to kiss mum but she push his face every time. "Kiss me woman!" before mum could give a snarky comeback he pulls her in for a deep kiss.
"Like ewwww Dad! That's my mum."
"And she's my wife last I checked. Besides how did you think you came into this world. In an alien pod." His sarcasm rolls. Shoot I said that out loud. Dragging mum back to his arms who tried to escape going for another kiss. She squeal hitting him playfully.
"TMI Dad and I take that as my cue to leave."
"OH! You're still here. Go away. You're distracting your mother from giving me some TLC."
"Wow. Where's the love?"
I chuckle hearing Dads banter as the distance grew thinner about his kiss and mums squeal as she tried to pry his lips away. Note keyword tried.
I regret the fight we had but I'm glad we will always come out stronger and for that reason I'll cherish every moment with them.
