Chapter 33: Chapter 33

Black Estates, America

Evelyn had locked herself in a random cabin and was pacing back and forth like a madwoman. She wasn't asleep, she was just pretending. Dylan got a call from Mr. Swift and he immediately left. Taking the chance, Evelyn ran out of his cabin not caring about the weird glances that she was receiving from the people who were present in the hallway. She went inside a random room and locked herself inside it.

Evelyn was utterly terrified of Dylan. The fire which she saw in his eyes was not of anger or lust but madness and a sick obsession. Madness to have her, obsessiveness to possess her. Evelyn was sick of him. She wanted nothing to do with him anymore but does he even care? She thought finally she had moved on, finally, she could live her life like a free bird. She knows that she won't be able to get her original life back, her original smile back, her original dreams back but still she was optimistic as she can at least spend the rest of her life in peace without any worries. Dylan needs her brain and all she wants is happiness. He wants her to do work for him and she needs him to stay away from her. She had accepted her fate finally. Although her cruel destiny was hell-bound to make her give up on her life the two Angels which were sent to him by God brought her faded smile back, cherished her lifeless soul, and indeed boosted up a new spirit inside her to fight back.

Evelyn had never imagined that two strangers who belonged to an entirely different world will make such an important place inside her heart. Their presence was enough for her to forget about all her sorrows and miseries. She hadn't forgiven Dylan but for sure had forgotten him. She had accepted that he can't change and she had given up on all of him. But it seemed like this indifference and ignorance of her didn't go down well with the arrogant billionaire.

Dylan never liked her closeness with his best friends. He doesn’t know as to why their proximity always triggered him. That stubborn brat didn't want to admit that he did feel jealous but his ego and arrogance molded his mind and suppressed his emotions. He wanted Evelyn to be with him even if he bullies her. He wanted her to only see him even if he tortures her. He wanted her to only listen to him even if he makes her life a living hell. His sadistic ways for sure pleasured him as they fulfil his insane desires. He threatened Evelyn to stay away from Brandon and Xander to which she obliged. Dylan thought he won, finally got what he wanted but little did he know that his madness and obsession for Evelyn was only increasing day by day. He had become crazy for her. Her eyes, her essence, her voice, her presence. He wanted everything for himself. No sharing, he wanted her only for himself. And for that, he won't even hesitate if he has to force her but he was failing to realize that his toxic ways were only pushing Evelyn away from her and he was still determined to walk on that path.

Evelyn was scared of him. She knows what kind of a twisted man he is. She doesn't even give a damn about his feelings now because it was enough. She had a golden heart. She did forgive him once but its repercussions only left her in despair. She again gives him a chance only to give him another benefit of stomping over her feelings ruthlessly. Now she was done. Finally done. Being magnanimous is no crime but being dumb is. You may be kind-hearted but if you let others take your kindness for granted again and again and when you're aware of that is plain stupidity and the height of foolishness. After so many heartbreaks, Evelyn was now confirmed that Dylan can never change. He is a sick and arrogant bastard who only knows how to possess things that catch his attention. What he sees, he gets.

And Evelyn was amongst those precious jewels which had enthralled the arrogant Prince.

A soft knock on the door made Evelyn halt in her steps. She immediately placed her hand over her racing heart to calm it down. She licked her dry lips and opened her mouth to say something when her heart bolted in fear as soon as she saw the doorknob being twisted from the other side. Her movements seized, her blood ran cold, her palms turned clammy as she stared at the mahogany door in horror.

'Please don't be Dylan, please don't be Dylan'

She started praying in her mind to the Lord as she dreaded his presence right now. She doesn't want to see him; she can't afford to lose her sanity. He had already terrified her out of her wits now she can't tolerate his vile behavior anymore. Everyone has a limit, a patience level. She is no God, just a mere human being who had already gone through so much. Now she can't bear more. No more torture, no more pain, no more suffering as all her efforts to move on had turned vain.

Suddenly her eyes sparkled with determination and a fire erupted inside her heart. She immediately rushed to the door and wrapped her fingers around the knob tightly as if her life was dependent on it.

Her abrupt actions might have surprised the person on the other side and taking its advantage Evelyn twisted the knob and locked the door. She exhaled a sigh of relief as happy tears escaped her eyes. The mere action made her feel ecstatic. But her happiness only lasted for a few minutes as the rattling on the door turned furious. She flinched back, her eyes widening in trepidation but the person was furious as he/she wrung the doorknob wildly. Her mind turned chaos, her emotions went in haywire.

Dylan.

Her mind screamed her to shout but no words left her mouth. She started shaking her head negatively as she was scared to death. She knew he is here to punish her for running away from him. He won't let her go this time. His mind started fabricating scary scenarios which had her blood-curling in dread.

All of a sudden, a loud bang was heard on the door which made her heart drop. She quickly moved away from the door as the knocks turned wilder and loud with every passing second. Evelyn immediately rushed inside the restroom when suddenly she heard a familiar fierce voice. The door burst open perhaps it wasn't locked properly and Evelyn cursed her unfortunate stars today as she stared at the man whom she least wants to meet right now glaring at her with burning eyes.

Inside C.E.O.'s cabin

Dylan's P.O.V.

“I want every arrangement perfect and on time, I won't tolerate any errors or delays, Got it?”, I said to Mr. Swift sternly. He bowed to me respectfully, “Don't worry Boss. Everything will be done on time and all the arrangements will be done according to the way you had said instructed. I will myself make sure of it.” I nodded in response. Mr. Swift was my most loyal employee and the person whom I really can trust the most right now.

“Alright, you may leave”, he bowed again and eventually left.

I rested my head on the headrest of the chair and closed my eyes in content. A faint smile crept on my face thinking about my plan. I was throwing a party on Eve's birthday. I had already planned everything all I wanted to execute. But on top of that, I was planning something big for her birthday and for that only I had called Mr. Swift to discuss it. I recalled his pale shocked face when I told him about my plan but obviously, he can't go against me. I even warned him not to talk about this to anyone although I know he won't. I trust him but I don't trust Xander. His clever skills always mess with my plan and I can't afford this time. Everything has been done perfectly. Now all I had to wait patiently to see my Genie's reaction.

I know I am doing wrong. I am again forcing her but I am helpless. Eve is like a drug for me. I am addicted to her. I am well fucking aware for what reason I married her and what I had done to her was wrong, brutally wrong. I don't need to be reminded again and again by everyone. I fucking know and I am fucking sorry for that. But now she is my wife. She is legally only mine. I know I have hurt her pretty much but now I want her back. I know I am one heartless, selfish jerk but this is what I am. I won't change myself nor do I have any plans to do that in the future but yeah, if my Eve tells me I will change for her, but only for her. I need her forgiveness at any cost, I need to win her back no matter what. I can't wait to see her hazel eyes looking at me in shock when I will give her my gift.

I am willing to give the whole world to my Eve so this small gift is nothing for me. I am planning more but for that, I need her to forgive me. I am even ready to wait for her even if it takes an eternity but I will also make sure that she remains only mine till eternity.

End of Dylan's P.O.V.

Evelyn blinked her eyes in disbelief as the person who was banging the door of her cabin was none other than Xander.

Xander was looking at her with fury but Evelyn was confused as hell because she was not at all expecting his sudden arrival. Moreover, how did he come to know that she was here, in this cabin?

'Wait! Is this is his cabin?', she thought internally.

Her eyes widened in realization as the room was not far from CEO's cabin so this room indeed belonged to Xander. Evelyn gulped in fear as he was glaring at her with pure anger. His jaw was clenched but a frown on his face was scolding her silently for her weird stunt which she was trying to pull a minute ago. The baffled look on his face didn't go unnoticed by her as she know he must be confused as to why she was here and was even trying to forbid him from going inside his cabin.

Evelyn wanted to smack her forehead so hard for her stupidity. Today for sure wasn't her day. Unexpected encounters since morning couldn't even let her breathe properly. Xander glared at her and entered the room, his raging eyes pinning her on her spot. He turned back and in a swift motion closed the door with a thud. Evelyn jumped as she retrieved her senses back. Xander noticed her stiff posture, her tensed muscles but the glossiness of her eyes and her tear-stricken face narrated another story.

All of a sudden, he froze on his spot, his eyes widened in shock. Evelyn noticed his changing demeanor but before she could comprehend, Xander marched towards her and raised her chin with his index finger. Evelyn was shaking and remained standing like a mannequin. His jaw ticked; his blood boiled in anger. She looked at him only to flinch back in fear when she noticed his pitch-black orbs glaring at her neck ferociously.

Xander grabbed her face with his right hand making her lips pout and snarled, “He touched you, didn't he?”

Evelyn stared at him agape. Xander for sure had seen the artwork her psycho husband had done on her body. That was the reason why she neither wanted Brandon nor Xander to be near her now. But luck wasn't on her side today. She tried to pry his hands off her but instead, he cupped his cheeks harshly making her look in his eyes.

“Answer me, he again did something, isn't it?”

He gritted his teeth. Evelyn’s mind turned blank. She could feel the heat emanating from his skin which tells how much furious he was. She tried to speak but a scream left her mouth when Xander shouted at her in frustration.

“ANSWER ME, GODDAMMIT!!!!”

Evelyn looked at him horrified. Her heart started hammering in her head now. First Dylan now Xander. She whined in her head for being so unlucky. The only sound which could be heard in the room was his deep angry breathes and her soft sniffs. Her silence gave him the answer. Xander abruptly removed his hands off her face and turned back. Evelyn was aghast. She can't let him do anything. It will only ruin things more. She immediately grabbed his left wrist to stop him.

“Xander, please listen to me.”

She cried but Xander quickly jerked her hands off and dashed to the door. Evelyn immediately came in front of him and placed her hands on his chest stopping him.

“No, Xander plea-“

“Get.out.of.my.way.”

He spoke gruffly and pushed Evelyn aside making her stumble. She immediately placed her hands on the wall for support but her eyes widened when she saw him grabbing the doorknob.

“NO, XANDER DON'T-“

Evelyn quickly hugged his left arm pulling him but Xander started snatching away his hands from her delicate hold.

“LET GO OF ME!!!” He blared but she started crying hard.

“Please Xander, don't do that. I beg you don't do this. Please stop.... please stop for me.”

Her sobs echoed in the room. Xander turned his face towards her only to see her looking at him helplessly. His gaze softened but his anger didn't subside. He grabbed her right shoulder as he pulled her towards himself.

“I won't stop this time. He had crossed all the limits. And you're still protecting him. WHY? WHY???”, he yelled jerking her violently.

“BECAUSE I AM SCARED!!”

She shouted back as she held his shoulder for support. Xander closed his eyes while inhaling a sharp breath. He knew he had to keep his cool. He saw her terrified form and shouting at her will only ruin the situation. Evelyn was traumatized and she needed comfort at this moment. He took a deep sigh to calm himself down although he was frustrated as hell. He looked down and saw her crying badly.

Xander turned towards her and grabbed both of her shoulders. He gave a slight squeeze to them to assure her that she is safe. He crouched down to her level and looked in her eyes deeply.

“There's no need to. I am here. Brandon is here. You don't need to get scared. Dylan can't do anything. He won't be able to. You are safe with us.”

He solaced her. His heart twitched as Evelyn broke down in tears. She hugged him burying her face in his chest as she started sobbing loudly like a child. Xander immediately wrapped his arm around her shoulders and started drawing circles on her back to calm her down.

“I am so tired Xander. I can't do this anymore. I can't spend the rest of my life in fear. I can't bear his sick attitude anymore. He will make me crazy. I am losing my hope. Save me, please. I don't want to become insane. Please...”

She sobbed as she complained like a little girl. Xander rested his chin on her head. His eyes filled with tears as he saw the girl who was so full of life break down like this. He had only heard about her miseries and tortures but the poor girl had gone through all this. She had suffered every humiliation, every brutality of Dylan and his family. She was all alone, her parents even abandoned her. She had no one and everyone took the advantage of the innocent girl for their satisfaction turning a deaf ear to all her pleas. It wasn't her fault that she fell in love with that heartless monster. She was innocent, generous and a pure soul who was trapped between these devils.

Initially, when Evelyn told him about Dylan's deeds, Xander couldn't believe it. It was a hard time for him to believe that his best friend had turned this cruel. He was disgusted with Dylan but at the same time ashamed of himself too as he was his childhood friend. Xander blamed himself for not being able to guide Dylan and stop him from torturing this girl who was as pure as the driven snow. She doesn’t deserve this and now he'll make sure of it.

Xander caressed Evelyn's head softly as he planted a soft kiss on her hair. After crying her heart out, she finally calmed down. Evelyn broke the hug. Xander looked down and grabbed her blotched face in his hands, his thumb wiping away her tears.

Evelyn looked at him, his heart pained as he saw her swollen eyes. He smiled sadly, “I am so sorry Eve that you have to go through all this. I know no matter what I say, I will never be able to take your pain away which is inflicted by my friend but at least I can try to lessen it,” he spoke sweetly. Evelyn looked at him but then a sad chuckle escaped her lips.

“You can't do anything, Xander. I am trapped. I don't want myself to get hurt anymore. Also, I can't see you or Brandon getting hurt because of me,” she spoke in a cracked voice blinking away her unshed tears.

"And we can't see you getting hurt either, Cutiepie".

Her heart jumped in her throat as she heard a deep hoarse voice from behind. She immediately detached herself from Xander's arms and turned back only to see Brandon staring at her with sorrowful eyes, his face soaked with tears.

Her eyes came out of their sockets as she was shell-shocked. Random thoughts started swirling in her mind like a raging storm as she started calculating the expected probabilities.

'Did he hear everything?'

'Does he know about Dylan and me?'

'Did Xander tell him everything?'

Evelyn looked back at Xander for her answers only to find him staring at her calmly completely ignoring the shocked expression on her face.

“You heard him, right? By the way, we're leaving today.” He spoke in a serious tone. Evelyn looked at him in shock. This was so unexpected. She opened her mouth to speak but got cut off in between by a raspy anger-filled growl which made her soul leave her body.

“And you're coming with us. Right. NOW!!”

The ground snatched beneath her feet.

'He did know everything.'
