Chapter 32: Chapter 32
Chapter 32: My Husband Had an Affair
The man sat leaning on the chair, engrossed in reading a book. He wore a simple sleepwear set, yet exuded an extraordinary beauty. His aura made everything around him, no matter how expensive or beautiful, appear mundane – including me. In that moment, I stood still, captivated, absorbing the sight of this breathtaking image.
Enzo frowned, his voice tinged with annoyance and anger. He was clearly displeased, saying, "Why did you just come back now?"
Snapping out of my reverie, I listened to his question and faced his less-than-friendly gaze. I replied calmly, "It's been a while since I've hung out with friends, so I came back late today. I sent you a message, haven't you seen it?"
I answered his question calmly, not feeling guilty about anything. If I hadn't done anything wrong, there was no reason to fear anything, despite the discomfort and questioning that made me feel pressured.
Enzo put the book down, his gaze still fixed on me. He spoke, irritation evident in his voice, "You've just started working, and you're already able to hang out with friends? How did you manage to come back? This is the first and last time, don't make me disappoint and annoy me any further."
With that, he got up, brushed past me, and went to the bedroom, leaving me alone in the living room. I smirked and muttered to myself, "First and last time? Enzo, your control over me is overwhelming. I'm feeling the pressure."
Despite not wanting to, I had to share a room with Enzo. Even though this mansion had numerous rooms, apart from Min and Enzo's bedroom, no other room had a bed. It was already late, and I didn't want to disturb the little one's sleep, so I reluctantly returned to the room I shared with Enzo.
Enzo wasn't asleep; he was sitting on the bed, leaning against the headboard, reading some documents written in a language I couldn't understand. As I walked in, he looked up, his cold gaze locking onto me. However, he didn't say anything and simply turned off the light to go to sleep.
I knew for sure he was angry about me coming back late, but he didn't seem to consider that he acted similarly. He often spent nights outside and didn't even send me a single text message.
That night, we didn't do anything. We just turned away from each other and slept. Enzo turned away, avoiding facing me, not embracing me or engaging in anything with me, which was very different from before. Perhaps he has another woman, I speculate.
But whether Enzo has an affair doesn't bother or sadden me because our relationship fundamentally differs from other couples. Currently, I always feel pressured and exhausted when I'm with this man, while he has never truly loved me; I can sense that.
In love, words aren't always necessary to define or express love. Sometimes, making the other person feel your love is sufficient. Enzo has always been deceitful and calculating, and when I'm with him, I can't tell when he's truthful or lying.
What should I do as things gradually shift in a different direction? I'm unsure of what Enzo wants from me, especially when he mentioned wanting us to return to how we were before. I mumble to myself, "What does Enzo want from me?"
Enzo has been absent for a few days now, not returning home. I haven't seen him for a while. Sometimes, I feel relieved because he's not at home, but other times, I feel empty and melancholic due to his absence.
Min can't spend time with me either as she's always busy studying. Suddenly, everything seems to be slipping away from me, and I'm left standing still, unable to do anything except watch. I haven't visited Min's school, Taylor takes care of that, picking her up and discussing her studies with her teachers.
Everyone knows Taylor is Enzo Robert's secretary, so no one has ever misunderstood her role or gossiped about her relationship with Enzo. But I still feel uneasy and as if Taylor has taken my rightful place.
My work still needs to continue, until one day, I come across an online news article with candid photos taken by paparazzi. The article is about my husband, Enzo Robert, entering a hotel with another woman. She's a prominent model, beautiful and sought after.
They truly look like a stunning couple, and the article speculates whether she's Enzo Robert's wife or his lover. This remains uncertain.
But if she's his wife, then what am I to Enzo?
If that woman is his lover, then has Enzo been having an affair all this time by not coming home?
The jumbled and cross-angled questions in my head make it impossible for me to stay clear-headed. A strange emotion is rising within me, even though I was previously certain that I wouldn't care about Enzo's relationships, even if he was having an affair. But now, I can't seem to maintain my composure.
The article spread quickly and was taken down just as quickly, but that doesn't matter because I've read it all. Even the comments on the article, everyone believes that the woman in the picture is Enzo's wife.
It took me two days to calm down enough to think sensibly and console myself: "It's okay, it's just a stolen picture, nothing to think too much about. Just ask Enzo directly."
However, things are probably not as simple as I thought. I waited for Enzo's response, sending numerous messages and making many calls, but Enzo never answered. I only heard the cold, emotionless mechanical voice of a woman.
And I don't know how many messages I've sent and how many calls I've made to Enzo, so many that I can't even count. I asked Taylor, but she just smiled and spoke mechanically, "Madam, don't worry, things will be okay. Boss's matters are private and I can't disclose them, I'm sorry."
"So then, you have to tell me what to do when I've made so many calls and Enzo hasn't responded." I raised my voice in frustration. I feel like a foolish dog in this house, just waiting for the owner to return.
Taylor still smiled, her indifferent smile and her brand only made me feel more helpless. I can't get any information about Enzo from Taylor, so I don't ask her anymore. Taylor is Enzo's secretary, she clearly knows everything about him, but she doesn't reveal even a small detail to me.
Taylor - a loyal accomplice.
My work still needs to continue, but because of that article, I can't focus on it. And not just one article, recently there have been rampant articles about Enzo Robert dating many models, and famous actors. And those articles are taken down within minutes for violations.
However, information is something that spreads very quickly; once one person knows, hundreds will know. Roy took a photo of that article and showed it to me. He seemed concerned and asked, his face displaying sympathy for me:
"Flora, are you okay? Have you heard about this?"
I glanced at the article and pursed my lips, a hint of bitterness in my nose, but I still showed that I was fine. I smiled and shook my head:
"I know, but I feel normal. We aren't in that kind of relationship, you know."
Roy seemed to sense the hidden sadness I was trying to conceal. He nodded:
"Flora, no matter what, I'll always be there for you."
"Thank you, Roy. But these little things don't affect me." I said with a smile, trying to lighten the matter.
In the evening, I returned to this mansion. It's spacious and beautiful, but I felt empty and lacked the warmth of... a family.
Taylor drove me to the gate and said:
"Miss Mindian, you have a sleepover at your friend's place today, so you won't be coming home. I'll go ahead, goodbye, madam."
"Thank you." I nodded and silently entered.
The household staff barely acknowledged me, just a slight nod before quickly leaving. Ever since I confronted one of them, they became more obedient. I didn't want to assert dominance, I just wanted them to know that I could stand up for myself and I wasn't the kind of weak person to be easily bullied.
I went upstairs to my room, intending to lie down, but before reaching the door, I heard the sound... the sound of a woman's moans and a man's heavy breathing coming from my own bedroom.
The sounds of lustful moans grew louder, shocking me to the point that my legs wouldn't move. In just a moment, a whirlwind of emotions flooded my heart. What were they doing in my room?
Enzo, what were you doing with that woman in our bedroom? I knew exactly what they were doing, but I wished I didn't have to hear those dirty sounds.
I stood silently in front of the door, I don't know for how long, but I knew tears were falling, unconsciously, even though I had no intention to cry.
I knew that one day Enzo wouldn't be mine anymore, but I didn't expect that day to come so soon. The scarred heart within me bled once again because of Enzo, the wound that hadn't healed properly reopened. Enzo had torn into my already wounded heart once more.
My husband had cheated on me...
