Chapter 498: Chapter 498
Not only did Su Tutu get ample sleep, but it even increased, allowing her to feel refreshed.
When she got up, the spot next to her in bed had already grown cold. By the time she had freshened up and come to the living room, Sheng Chao had already prepared breakfast.
"Hubby, what did you make for breakfast?"
Su Tutu leaned on the dining table with both hands, eyeing the breakfast spread he’d laid out.
"It’s all your favorites."
Su Tutu leaped onto Sheng Chao, wrapping her arms around his neck, her face beaming with joy. "Brother Chao is the best!"
How could her husband be so outstanding?
Sheng Chao supported her bottom to prevent her from falling.
As he spoke, he even lifted her up a bit.
Su Tutu pouted. "You never used to tell me to be careful when I did this before. Are you worried it will affect the baby in my belly now?"
Sheng Chao furrowed his brows. "When did I ever say that?"
Su Tutu jabbed him forcefully in the chest with her finger. "That’s exactly what you said!"
Her reason might not be sound, but her spirit was indignant.
Sheng Chao couldn’t help but laugh at her.
"I am worried about you."
Su Tutu got down from him and turned to prop herself on the table. "Once we have the child, you’ll definitely stop loving me."
Was it the pregnancy? She’d become suddenly sensitive, the completely irrational kind.
Sheng Chao’s countenance darkened a shade.
Seeing him , Su Tutu felt even more uneasy in her heart.
Could it be that their seven-year itch was coming early?
Su Tutu buried her face in her arms and ignored him. Two seconds later, she raised her head and nonchalantly said, "Let’s have breakfast. I need to go to the set later."
Sheng Chao’s voice carried a trace of severity as he tapped the table and repeated his words.
The tapping sound was like a hammer striking her heart.
Stimulated, Su Tutu snapped, "Look at you, look at you, I’m looking at you! What do you want?!"
She tilted her head harshly toward him.
Her already large eyes were now wider than ever.
Her eyes reddened, filled with grievances.
Sheng Chao pulled up a chair and sat down in front of her, his jawline tense. "I’m afraid you’ll get hurt. Where are you dragging that concern to?"
Before his hand could reach her head, it was swatted away.
"In the end, it’s all about the baby."
Su Tutu muttered hastily under her breath.
Sheng Chao took a deep breath.
"Tutu, I’ve never been a father before. I think I can deal with anything, but when it comes to matters concerning you, I find it tricky because I don’t know what’s best for you. I’m afraid of you being in danger."
He was an impatient man, not known for gentleness, and yet he reserved all his patience and tenderness for Su Tutu.
Fearing she might overthink, he continued calmly and soothingly, "This is your first pregnancy. There’s so much we don’t understand, and I don’t want you to get hurt because of that. Not even our child is allowed to harm you. To me, the child is just an unexpected blessing. In my heart, you are the most important."
First, there was Su Tutu, and then came the child.
Even their own child could not outweigh Su Tutu in importance.
If Su Tutu was frightened, he was frightened too, but he could not show it, couldn’t let her be affected by his fear.
She could only rely on him.
He had to provide support for her and their unborn child.
There are risks with childbirth, and one must take care of all aspects of a pregnant woman. His greatest worry was for her health.
Yet, she was misinterpreting his concern.
How could he not love her?
The first time he understood what love was, it was because of her.
Sheng Chao’s fingers gently traced the corner of her eye. "Tutu, I love you, and that’s why I love our child. I hope you can understand that."
Su Tutu’s eyelashes quivered.
"Don’t overthink it, and don’t doubt my love for you. I don’t say these words often, but I thought you would understand."
He also didn’t understand how they could still get pregnant when they were always taking precautions.
He was looking forward to the child, but he hadn’t expected the child to arrive without any preparation.
The news caught him just as off guard as it did her.
But compared to him, she must be more frightened.
That’s why Sheng Chao didn’t hesitate to take a flight over, simply to ensure she was alright at first sight.
Thankfully, she was relatively strong.
Su Tutu huffed a breath but still didn’t speak.
Of course, Su Tutu knew how much Sheng Chao loved her.
For some reason, she just couldn’t understand why her emotions got the better of her.
She’d taken her temper out on him.
Maybe it was dependence, maybe it was trust; knowing no matter how much she made a fuss, he wouldn’t give up on her, so she took it for granted.
"But I’ll learn this slowly." Sheng Chao spoke unhurriedly, "I won’t let you get hurt."
Su Tutu glanced at him, "It’s just pregnancy and giving birth, it’s not as serious as you think."
She was the one pregnant. Why did he act like he was facing a great enemy?
Sheng Chao frowned. "You can’t think like that."
Su Tutu opened her mouth.
Sheng Chao gently touched her head. "How much longer until you wrap up filming?"
"I don’t have much left to shoot. I’ll be done soon."
Sheng Chao nodded, "Let’s eat breakfast first, then I’ll take you to the set."
He didn’t tell her to stop filming.
Su Tutu breathed a sigh of relief, "Can you serve me some porridge?"
Watching his actions, Su Tutu’s gaze shifted to his face and that’s when she noticed his severe dark circles.
Su Tutu suddenly felt a twinge of heartache. "Did you not sleep well last night?"
Perhaps with him by her side, she had slept especially well the previous night.
"Mhm, I remembered I hadn’t finished some work, so I got up in the middle of the night to deal with it." Tʜe source of this ᴄontent ɪs NovᴇlFire(.)nᴇt
"You could handle it during the day. Don’t do that again; your dark circles are making you ugly."
His wife was a bit of a face-control aficionado.
In reality, Sheng Chao hadn’t slept at all last night.
He was suffering from insomnia.
He’d watched her for as long as she slept, then got up to make breakfast for her when it seemed she was about to wake.
Sheng Chao placed a bowl of porridge in front of her. "The porridge isn’t hot anymore. You can eat now."
She had thought about asking him to blow on it for her.
After breakfast, Sheng Chao dropped Su Tutu off at the set.
Last night’s trending news had been withdrawn by Sheng Chao’s order, but the news of Su Tutu’s pregnancy still spread like wildfire.
Seeing Su Tutu arrive on set, some people who were close congratulated her openly.
Su Tutu smiled and took it in stride.
After her makeup was done, Qiao Xi came to her dressing room. "Did Brother Chao come to Jiang City?"
Su Tutu nodded. "Yeah, he came last night. Do you have any of that apple you were eating left? Give me one."
"None left, but I’ll bite one for you."
Without any qualms, Su Tutu bit off a large chunk. While eating the apple, she suddenly remembered she had forgotten to question Sheng Chao on why she’d gotten pregnant by accident.
But what’s done is done. No point fretting over it now.
Su Tutu took a few days to accept the fact that she was pregnant.
Once she relaxed and welcomed the idea of new life, her part in the film was finished, and she wrapped up early.
That very day, Su Tutu returned to Hai City with Sheng Chao.
Qiao Xi stayed in Jiang City to finish the remaining scenes.
The final scene of the entire movie featured Qiao Xi alone.
