Chapter 1648: Chapter 1648

Mr. Sun said, "The Red Clan’s belief is different from ours in the Eastern Land. Therefore, even if we defeat our opponent frontally in a divine war, we will not be able to win over their believers. On the contrary, these believers will fight even more unyieldingly, avenging their deity. Unless we kill all these people and their descendants, this kind of war of faith will never cease!"

The National Master found it somewhat difficult to grasp, but the attitude of millions of believers throughout Hamilton City entirely validated Mr. Sun’s judgment. Mr. Sun didn’t bother to elaborate to the National Master as the Red Clan’s belief in the Evil God entailed many concepts such as ’My God’s’ Nirvana, a precaution against the present situation.

General Osborn’s arrangements were somewhat presumptuous. The opportunity Mr. Sun was waiting for had arrived.

To outsiders, Mr. Sun’s opportunity appeared to be the Fire Bathing Festival, but this wasn’t the case. If Mr. Sun merely wanted to display miracles at the festival, wouldn’t he be falling into the same trap as General Osborn?

Cheerfully, Mr. Sun said to the National Master, "Prepare yourself, National Master. Our time has come."

The National Master slightly nodded his appealing chin and vanished instantly.

Outside in the square, General Osborn’s golden divine form already stood outside the main entrance of the Holy Fire Temple. The Pope and sixteen Bishops hindered the entrance. The Pope raised his scepter high: a divine artifact imbued with the power of the Eight Mountains. However, he didn’t know how much power it could unleash now.

As the Pope raised his scepter, all the clergy in the Holy Fire Temple, including those in hidden spaces, surged forth, tightly barring the main entrance to the living quarters; they wished to use their bodies of blood and flesh to obstruct the advance of their enemy!

The Pope wasn’t inclined to this course of action, but his foundation was the Flame of Stars. Surely, if the Holy Fire Temple were seized too, he’d rather be dead than alive.

A scornful, mocking expression appeared on General Osborn’s face: A horde of ants oblivious to the state of affairs! He didn’t even need an immortal weapon. Only slowly lowering his head, a vast divine light fell from his eyes, as if a tide of power was washing over the clergy before the entrance.

Including the Pope, everyone’s bodies aged and weakened noticeably; in no longer than half an hour, they’d lose all traces of vitality, their bodies continuing to decay until eventually turning into a mound of sand.

The believers on the square were furious; unknown who led the charge, they let out a roar and rushed towards General Osborn. Just as it seemed like it was about to turn into a massive stampede, there came a sudden sound from the Great River outside of Hamilton City - like drums, or chimes, or some kind of note. It was grand and magical. Upon hearing this, everyone felt as if they were doused with refreshing, icy water in the heat of summer.

The believers felt it in their hearts and looked back...

Countless buildings and high city walls originally separated this place from the Great River outside the city. But somehow, they all "saw" everything that happened in the river:

A towering deity ascended from the River, its divine form entirely made up of river water, leaving the whole Great River empty. In this deity’s eyes, it carried the compassion of pitying the common people. When all the believers saw this deity, they felt a sense of kinship arising from their "spirits". They felt this deity bore a resemblance in character to their own God.

At the riverside, there was a young Seran girl washing clothes - naive and unsophisticated. The deity saw her, and thus, a ray of divine light fell and enveloped her. Her spiritual strength rapidly increased; the naive shyness faded away. She became elegant and noble. In the eyes of all believers, she was a "Saintess"!

Following that, the Saintess listened devoutly to the deity’s teachings, raised her hands high, and received a "Divine Artifact" bestowed by the deity. It was a special warblade, its blade stained with incessant bloodstains! Then she stood up and walked back to Hamilton City, all the way to the front of the Holy Fire Temple - it seemed slow to describe but, in reality, happened in a split second.

Facing General Osborn, Your Excellency the Saintess uttered a righteous reprimand and raised her warblade at him!

Initially, General Osborn assumed it was an Evil God. However, when the National Master struck with his Peculiar and Cunning Blade, General Osborn was infuriated: Who was secretly sabotaging him, jeopardizing his crucial plan!

But the National Master, holding the Peculiar and Cunning Blade, was using the River God’s divine power! A vast amount of divine power was sent over from afar. The essence of General Osborn’s golden divine form was similarly a kind of "Soul Body". Because this was formed from a trace of General Osborn’s consciousness descending to the Lower Realm.

Which was restrained by the Peculiar and Cunning Blade!

In terms of status, the River God was certainly inferior to General Osborn. However, what was present here was just one trace of General Osborn’s consciousness with limited power he could use. He needed the Immortal Talisman in Colin Devin’s Primordial Spirit to bear it. If the power descended were too tremendous and the talisman collapsed, all the Devin’s would die from the explosion.

Under one strike from the National Master, General Osborn raised his immortal Horse Spear. With a "clang", the spear was broken. The Peculiar and Cunning Blade cut across the golden divine form, leaving a massive wound! Viscous gold rapidly gushed from the wound, appearing akin to divine blood.

The divine form rapidly grew weaker from the stream of "blood", General Osborn issued a sky-shaking roar: "Who are you?! How dare you meddle in affairs, aren’t you afraid of my condemnation upon your descendants?"
