Chapter 1464: Chapter 1464
"My name is Wu Xiong, I’m the instructor for Medical College Class 123. For the next seven days, I’ll be training you. From now on, you’re all under my command, understand?"
Wu Xiong shouted loudly.
The group obediently responded.
"Tang Ming, your attire is disheveled, and you’re late. Now go run twenty laps around the track."
Wu Xiong issued the order without any room for doubt.
Tang Ming didn’t say a word, turned on his heel, and quickly started running towards the track.
Though Tang Ming was strong, he was principled. Regardless of the reason this time, he knew he was wrong and had to accept it.
Watching Tang Ming run towards the track in a standard posture, Wu Xiong was slightly surprised but didn’t think much of it, turning to the other students instead: "Everyone, turn right, march in step, and line up at the track."
Seeing Tang Ming punished, Shao Wuyou almost laughed out loud, thoroughly enjoying it.
"Shao Wuyou, you’re being a bit much. Why didn’t you tell Tang Ming in advance about the morning drill?"
Meng Xianjun looked at Shao Wuyou with displeasure.
"He wasn’t in the dorm room when I woke up, and I don’t have his phone number, so how could I tell him?"
Shao Wuyou coldly retorted, justifying himself: "Besides, I informed you guys on short notice, and none of you were late. How was I supposed to know he’d be out so early in the morning?"
Wu Xiong roared angrily, glaring fiercely at Meng Xianjun and the others.
Wu Xiong led the three new classes from the Medical College to form ranks on the school’s field, starting the training with the simplest military posture.
The field was large, with students from other majors forming different platoons, each conducting military training in designated areas.
While the freshmen stood in military posture for training, Tang Ming was running laps around the 800-meter track, standing out from the group undergoing military training.
Many instructors, unaware of what had happened, used Tang Ming as a negative example, warning their own freshmen to adhere strictly to the rules, or they would face punishment like Tang Ming.
Seeing Tang Ming being punished with laps, Li Wenxuan’s expression soured. Seizing the time while the instructors trained the freshmen, she found Zhang Mingli: "Director Zhang, what’s going on? Why is Tang Ming running laps on the first day?"
"Director Li, it wasn’t my idea. Tang Ming crossed the line; today was the meet-and-greet with the instructor, and we were supposed to wear military uniforms for training. Not only was he late, but he didn’t even wear his uniform."
Zhang Mingli explained hurriedly, upset as he grumbled: "If the instructor didn’t punish him, it would be impossible to command respect, hence the twenty laps."
"Twenty laps? That’s nearly twenty kilometers. It’s too much."
Li Wenxuan angrily looked towards Wu Xiong.
"What are you planning? Instructor Wu Xiong is the instructor for Class 123, and Tang Ming is a student of this class. You have no right to talk to Instructor Wu Xiong."
Zhang Mingli quickly reminded her: "This is your first time with freshmen, so you don’t know the temperament of these military training instructors. They value discipline above all, and pleading will never result in leniency. Understand?"
Li Wenxuan moved her lips but then sighed helplessly. Tang Ming wasn’t one of her students, so she really had no right to interfere.
The students from Class 123 of the Medical College were truly enlightened. Tang Ming managed to offend the director on his very first day and then got in trouble with the instructor on the first day of military training. Quite the odd one.
An hour later, a sweat-drenched Tang Ming returned to the front of the line, "Report, instructor, twenty laps completed."
Wu Xiong nodded, looking expressionlessly at Tang Ming: "Go and walk two more laps, drink some water, and rejoin the team."
Tang Ming responded decisively, then turned and left.
"Serves him right; he should be punished ."
Upon hearing Wu Xiong tell Tang Ming to walk more laps, Shao Wuyou snickered: "Acting so tough, why doesn’t he dare to stand up to the instructor? A poser!"
"It’s all your fault, and you still have the nerve to speak."
Meng Xianjun glared at Shao Wuyou disdainfully.
"The instructor asked Tang Ming to walk two laps to ease the muscle tension. Otherwise, stopping abruptly after a long run can be very harmful to the legs."
A pale-faced Hua Yingjie calmly explained.
"I think so too... Old Hua, why do you look so bad?"
Meng Xianjun looked at Hua Yingjie suspiciously, "You came back late last night too, what were you up to?"
Hua Yingjie replied briefly and refused to elaborate.
"Silence, you’re supposed to be standing in military posture, who allowed you to talk?"
Wu Xiong shouted angrily: "If I hear anyone chatting again, the entire group will do an extra half-hour in military posture. Look at yourselves, swaying all over. If our country needed you on the battlefield, you’d only be cannon fodder."
The group immediately shut their mouths.
This instructor was extremely strict with the students because the training period was only seven days, and after that, the school would hold a grand review for the freshmen. If there were no results by then, they couldn’t answer to the higher-ups, so they had to get into training mode as fast as possible.
Tang Ming completed two laps and returned to the front of the formation, where Li Wenxuan conveniently handed him a bottle of mineral water.
Tang Ming gratefully glanced at Li Wenxuan and quickly drank up.
"Can you be a bit more considerate? University isn’t like high school; you must follow the rules here, got it?"
Li Wenxuan chided, exasperated.
"I know, didn’t I obediently accept my punishment?"
Tang Ming smiled, handed the empty bottle back to Li Wenxuan, and quickly ran towards Wu Xiong.
"Are you still okay?"
Wu Xiong coldly eyed Tang Ming.
"Report instructor, no problem."
Tang Ming replied heartily.
"Not bad, you’re a promising candidate for the army."
Wu Xiong nodded in satisfaction, "Since you didn’t wear your uniform, you’re ineligible to line up. Instead, you’ll train at the front of the formation. If you impress me, you might become the flag bearer for this group."
Tang Ming nodded and swiftly moved to the very front, standing in the most standard military posture without needing instructions from Wu Xiong.
Wu Xiong observed Tang Ming, intrigued.
The group stood in military posture all morning, taking a half-hour break each time, and everyone was exhausted, both male and female. In contrast, Tang Ming, after running twenty laps, showed no signs of fatigue.
Just before lunch, Wu Xiong, who had been watching Tang Ming, was very excited. Tang Ming’s performance outshone many veteran soldiers, much to his delight.
Wu Xiong shouted to everyone, "Consider this morning’s military posture your first test. Now, separate by gender, line up according to height ratio. From now on, every time you assemble, use this formation. Understand?"
Then, Wu Xiong personally arranged everyone’s positions and instructed the students to remember each person around them, as this would be the standard formation for the grand review.
