Chapter 334: Chapter 334
Chapter 333 No secret shall remain hidden
Veronica was in a deep slumber and was completely unresponsive.
However, Nick noticed that her breathing was unstable. He reached out to touch her face and was surprised that she was hot with fever.
Upon regaining her consciousness, Veronica's nostrils were invaded by the smell of the hospital's disinfectant. She looked around the blue and white room. She could not recall being brought to the hospital and she wondered who sent her to such a strange environment.
She turned around and saw Nick sitting on the sofa next to her bed. She tried to sit up, only to fell in Nick's arm."Don't move." Nick Cage's low magnetic voice rang in her ear. "Why didn't you say that man was your father?" He asked intently.
"If I did, would that change anything? You are both the same." Veronica muttered weakly.
Nick said nothing. He continued holding her frail body. Veronica's gaze landed on Nick's tight jaw.
"It doesn't matter. I'm used to it anyway." He said with a long exhale. His facial muscles twitched.
"I think I'm good to go now. I want to be discharged from this hospital." She tried to free herself from Nick's embrace and lift the quilt out of her body. She attempted to get out of the bed but she was too weak that she ended up in Nick's arms again.
"Let me go." Her voice trembled with dismay.
"No, not yet. You have a fever." Nick whispered in her ears in a soothing voice.
"Get out!" She no longer wanted to see him. With a slight change of expression, Nick got up and left the room.
She was stunned for a moment. She didn't expect that Nick will adhere to her request that easily. She had known him for his bad temper and desire to always argue.
She lay still in the pillows with a throbbing head due to fever. She never expected her body to fail like that. It must have been due to Tom's sudden appearance which surprised her and Nick's unreasonable demands.
All of a sudden, her attention averted to the knock on the door.
"President Dora." She greeted the woman who entered the room.
"I need to take your temperature." She smiled at her and got her temperature.
"It's now normal. You can now head back and rest. Should there be a problem, just call me and I'll go to Winter Villa."
"To Winter Villa? But why?" Veronica asked with a frown.
"You have no idea how badly Nick had treated me there," she added.
"Yes, I have," Tracy admitted.
"So, you know something then?" she looked at her unexpectedly.
"Mr. Cage told me everything. He's aware that I helped you hide the baby. I also knew that you were Chloe's daughter."
"And you knew that he is the father of my child?"
"Yes." Tracy could not imagine that Veronica and Nick would have such a dramatic entanglement. "When Mr. Cage asked me to help you, I couldn't believe it. You were so amazing that you gave birth to six children. I've only seen one or two cases in my medical career. I also knew that Mr. Cage raised his hand against you. I'm sorry for that." She stated as a matter of fact.
"There is a question that I had been meaning to ask you. Please be honest with me. If you don't want to answer it, just pretend that I didn't ask you, alright?" Veronica looked at her intently, hoping for answers. "Since you are the personal doctor of Nick's mother, you might as well know what happened, right?" Tracy Dora looked at the ward door and she knew that Nick was outside.
"Forget it. Forget that I asked about it." Veronica could sense Tracy's fear to spill the truth.
"If I tell you the truth, would you believe me?"
