Chapter 322: Chapter 322
Chapter 321 There's No Escape
She thought there wouldn't be any connection anymore between him and her.
It seemed like that to her before. She didn't expect something like this would ever happen.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and Veronica Parker's heart stopped.
Her frightened eyes stared at the closed door while her heart pounded so loud as if it would get out of her chest. She then wondered who could it be.
Tom Parker called just now. And then somebody knocked on her door. Could it be him? He knew that she lived there?
There were so many thoughts running in her mind at that moment. So many questions. Veronica Parker remembered of how she had suffered when she and Tom Parker lived together. She was beaten up by him whenever he gets the chance and there was no one to help her.
And now, Isabella was not with her. What should she do?
Veronica Parker was so frightened and tears rolled from her eyes.
She held her breath and wished that he would just disappear and never bother her again. There was a knock on the door again, and this time it was obvious that the person who knocked on the door was impatient.
Veronica Parker wanted to stand up but she felt weak. She tried to stand up and propped on the low table using her hands, but she accidentally pressed it on the bowl and knocked the noodles over. The bowl turned over leg and burnt her.
Veronica Parker exclaimed and was in pain.
Nick Cage who was standing outside gave the door a sharp look. He took a step back, raised his long legs and fiercely kicked the door.
With just one try, the door was kicked open.
The loud noise made Veronica Parker tremble all over.
She was too shocked. Her eyes grew wide open when she saw Nick Cage.
"Nick Cage? Why did you kick the door? Don't you know how to knock properly? That was quite an entrance." She exclaimed.
Nick Cage's long body stood then approached Veronica Parker. His eyes were locked on her as if he hurriedly checked if she was harmed or not. When he realized that she wasn't, his round eyes coldly looked at her and asked, "Why didn't you open the door?"
Veronica Parker was relieved when she saw him, then she stood up properly as he approached her.
She was just wearing denim shorts which showed her white and beautiful legs, which revealed also some redness because of the hot bowl.
She then pointed on to the redness on her leg, showed it to him and said, "See this? You suddenly knocked on the door and scared me. So I accidentally flipped the bowl of hot noodles. How then can I open the door for you?" With that, he turned angrily to the bathroom, looked for a towel and dampen it with some water. He went back to her and wiped her legs with a cold towel.
Veronica Parker held the towel that he placed on her leg. Good thing though that she was able to eat some of the noodles before the incident happened. The noodles wasn't that hot anymore when it spilled on her thigh. Otherwise, it would have caused her more pain then blisters later on.
Nick Cage stood at the bathroom door, his black eyes looked at her beautiful legs then asked, "I'm sorry if I scared you. This wouldn't have happened if you just opened the door."
Veronica Parker didn't look up, shook her head and refused to answer.
She thought to herself that it was impossible for Nick Cage to genuinely apologize to her. It wouldn't even matter if she refused to answer.
After wiping the noodles off her legs, she ignored Nick Cage and walked past him to the living room to pick up the bowl she had knocked over.
Then she thought of something. She stood up and went towards the broken door, inspected it and angrily said, "You broke my! You should fix this!"
Nick Cage looked at Veronica Parker. He frowned and thought to himself that that was something different of her and got too interested. Veronica Parker closed the door reluctantly, came over and went on with the dishes.
Nick Cage sat down on the sofa, which sank because he was too heavy for it. "You had a lot of nerve to say such a thing." Nick Cage crossed his legs and looked at her sharply with black eyes.
"Occasionally." She firmly responded.
After she finished cleaning up the mess, she placed the bowl on the table and asked him, "What are you doing here?"
"Nothing. I just came to visit. I just want to see how you are coping up." He impolitely responded. Veronica Parker could not ignore the depth and sharpness of Nick Cage's eyes and lowered her eyes. Then she answered back, "What else can I do? I'm looking for a job every day now!"
Nick Cage intently looked at her and said "I'm thinking about placing a locator on your body so I can easily track you down. A locator implant to be precise."
Veronica Parker was frightened. She was shocked after hearing him say those words so she stared at him and asked, "What did you say? Nick Cage, are you out of your mind?"
"An implant locator. That locator would be embedded on your body so you can't just take it off." He answered plainly. As if he just pertained to a usual idea.
She was bewildered and couldn't believe such a terrible person ever existed.
She couldn't think properly and couldn't look at him as if she didn't hear his crazy idea.
An implant locator?! First he insisted on her having that bracelet. And now an implant!
She then wondered what has gotten into him to think such a horrible plan.
"Nick Cage, I'm going to pretend I didn't hear you say such a thing. You don't actually mean that right?" Veronica Parker couldn't believe it and asked him.
"Do you think I'm still seeing Toby Cage? I've made it very clear. I'm not seeing him anymore and I have nothing to do with him. What more do you want from me?" She asked further.
"Anyway, forget it. You found the bracelet, right? Just give it to me and I'll wear it again if that's what makes you happy." Veronica added before Nick Cage could even respond.
