Chapter 256: Chapter 256

Inside the four-courtyard, Qin Miaomiao sat on the sofa while Ou Beichen sat at the desk, sketching and drawing without paying her any attention. The teenager was dressed in a white shirt, his features delicate and as striking as a painting. The warm sunlight fell upon him, giving off an air of pure serenity.

How could he possibly look like someone with psychological issues?

She had been sitting there idly for half an hour without saying a word, observing him secretly. But no matter how much she observed, he seemed completely normal.

The door was gently pushed open, and Ou Bei Yao walked in. Seeing Qin Miaomiao still in the same pose as when he left half an hour ago—book still flipped to the same page—his expression hardened slightly, and a faint pain in his lower body from earlier returned. This woman wasn’t just ruthless; she had almost made him incapable of having children!

If it wasn’t for the fact that she was still useful to him, he had a thousand ways to make her suffer!

After pondering for a moment, Qin Miaomiao replied, "I think your little brother is completely normal. It’s just that he interacts with people differently. Others like to talk; he prefers quiet. He’s not good at socializing, but there’s no rule saying that people have to communicate with others to live in this world, right?"

Ou Bei Yao’s expression stayed cold, his eyes narrowing slightly. "I brought you here to solve his issues."

"He doesn’t have issues. It’s you who think he has issues, and that’s actually making it worse for him."

She stood up and walked toward Ou Beichen, glancing at what he was drawing before saying:

"He’s in a great mood today and wants some ice cream. By the way, he really dislikes the dogs in the courtyard that keep running around."

Ou Bei Yao looked surprised. "How do you know?"

"He drew it. Everything in his drawings reveals his emotions—though you just haven’t noticed. Xiao Chen, be good, you’ll get ice cream in a bit. How about strawberry flavor?"

Ou Beichen stopped drawing and, for the first time, looked up at her. The angelic face showed a faint smile as he nodded.

Qin Miaomiao reached out and gently ruffled his soft hair, feeling his stiff body gradually relaxing. There was a natural sense of closeness he seemed to have toward her.

Ou Bei Yao froze in place briefly. Xiao Chen rarely paid attention to anyone, not even him. Often, he either ignored people or locked himself away, erupting into fits of anger like a madman, smashing everything until it was beyond recognition. But why was he different with her?

Soon, the strawberry ice cream was brought over—two servings, as Qin Miaomiao insisted on having one herself.

The two of them sat side by side on the sofa, eating ice cream while looking at the drawings. Qin Miaomiao even grabbed a sketch pen and, with a few quick strokes, doodled a caricature of Ou Bei Yao: slicked-back hair, trench coat, and a cigar between his fingertips. Ou Beichen actually laughed.

"Doesn’t this look like your brother?"

Ou Beichen picked up the pencil and drew a simple, lively sketch of her—a version that was surprisingly beautiful.

"Wow, Xiao Chen, you’re amazing! You’ll definitely be a great artist in the future. By the way, besides drawing, what else do you like? Reading? Watching movies?"

He nodded but still didn’t speak. Qin Miaomiao’s goal was only to pique his interest, after all. If solving autism was that easy, what would doctors be needed for?

"How about we watch a movie together? If you don’t like being around too many people, we can watch at home."

Ou Beichen nodded again, his face carrying an even brighter smile.

"Boss Ou, get us a projector, some soft sofas, popcorn, and cola. That’ll do."
