Chapter 15: Chapter 15
If the cheers were anything to go by then yes she accomplished her purpose. Showing up fashionably late to your own party must be the key to success even though you do get a lot of jealous glares from your rivals. Eva couldn’t hide the jealousy in her glare but even she had to clap and cheer because I will be honest my best friend looked good as heck.
One thing I have to say though is thank God I wasn’t wearing heels otherwise I would have made a fool of myself the way Siobhan pulled me out of her apartment with her. I got my footing luckily and strutted beside her – well a few steps back because I didn’t want to steal her spotlight – and she got the appreciative stares she deserved, and, I noted particularly that Andre who was standing with Aaron holding a red cup of beer, maybe, and was staring and couldn’t seem to look away. Well, that was the goal so…win!
Siobhan enjoyed the attention. Of course, she would, that’s what she was born for – the spotlight. She cat walked in time with the booming beat of the music, made a turn at the edge of the swimming pool, and came to a stop in front of it. That was where Dan was standing so I’m guessing it’s the makeshift stage.
“Good evening everyone! Are we ready to party?!” she yelled and everyone responded with cheers, raising their cups and shouting at the top of their lungs. “Hmm I see everyone brought their party spirits,” she commented above the cheers. “As expected because this is the first party of the year brought to you by yours truly,” she flipped her hair and struck a pose. I’m guessing half the boys will be staring at her boobs so hard tonight that they might just fall off. “Planned by my best friend,” she pulled me out from behind her and threw her arm over my shoulder. “You know her, you love her and without her, this party would not be a success. Give it up for my bestie Bianca Davis!”
Once again cups went up in the air and cheers resounded. Even Andre was pumping his cup in the air. Ah, I see alcohol works wonders.
“Thank you,” Siobhan suddenly whispered to me.
“Aww you didn’t have to,” I laughed. “I might just steal your spotlight now you know?”
“That can never happen.”
She laughed and left my side to talk to Dan about the first games we’ll play tonight and I concerned myself with getting a drink of water. Shewa walked up to join me at the bar. She was wearing a very short skirt that showed off her pretty, long legs. Ian was staring at them but she was oblivious. Shewa the dumdum, she never seems to know when a guy has the hots for her. I’m guessing Ian will have to make a bold move to get her to himself tonight.
“Okay this is AHMAZZING!” she exclaimed. “How did you pull this off?”
“With help from you and Dan, anything is possible.”
She reached for a can of drink. “I have to say I had qualms about this because you know, you’re not as feisty as Siobhan but you’ve outdone yourself.”
I scoffed and punched her arm jovially. “Thanks for the vote of confidence. Now you know I’m a pretty good party planner. If you ever feel the need to throw a party and you need a planner you know I’ve got you.”
“Yeah yeah,” she laughed.
“Alright guys,” Dan said to the group of dopamine-hyped seniors. Janet who was the DJ turned the music down enough for him to be heard. “So our first game of the night is…” he looked around with a secretive smile to stretch out the tension. “It’s a classic but with a twist. Do you want to know what the first is?”
“Yes!”
“I can’t hear you!”
“Yes!” we screamed louder.
“Alright let’s roll the table.” Aaron and Ian suddenly appeared carrying a table. Well as expected, I planned the party so I know the first game. Cup pong and yes with a twist. Like all cup pongs, there was beer and there were cups and of course the table tennis ball we will throw in the cups but rather than the classic cup pong, there were two sides for girls and boys. The boys had the red cups arranged from five, four, three…you know the game so don’t let me bore you with the details. The girls had the blue cups arranged the same way. All ten of us Senior Class 3 girls took our places at the blue cup end of the table while the ten Senior Class 3 boys took their places at the red cup end.
“Ohh I’m excited already,” Eva said as she watched me set up the girls’ side.
I let Dan do the explanation. “So the idea is this. We will pass a basket containing papers with the boys' names in it, of course, the party girl picks first. Whoever you girls pick is your opponent so when it’s your turn to throw the ball in a cup your opponent drinks it, reads the challenge at the base of the cup and he or she must complete the challenge. It’s a must! There’s no going back!”
“Bring it on!” Siobhan laughed already excited about the game.
The music went up and the basket was passed around. I had taken precautions to paint the paper Siobhan would pick a light shade of pink knowing she would not be able to resist, that way it was easier to partner her up with Andre. When I picked my own paper and opened it it was Aaron. Okay, what is happening?
“Alright let’s get started! I’m going first so…”
Siobhan stepped out and did Andre. And I got to get a good look at him for the first time. Those abs will definitely be good for surfing. I wasn’t the only one staring. Since he was the new kid everyone was paying attention to his tall, dark, handsome features. Siobhan was drooling so hard I had to nudge her.
Give it a month and I bet you he’ll become one of the other boys. That’s how boys are, they never leave a lasting impression.
“Throw it! Throw it! Throw it!”
Siobhan positioned herself and threw the ball into the cup. It entered one of them causing some beer to splash on the table. Everyone cheered.
Andre took the cup and drank the entire thing in it before turning it over to read the inscription at the bottom. He smiled secretively.
“Well, what does it say?” Siobhan asked impatiently.
“It says kiss the senior you find most attractive.” He laughed. It was a melodic sound. “That one is easy," his voice was low and husky.
