Chapter 511: Chapter 511
The night was already deep in Osaka, Japan, at the Tenpo Mountain Aquarium.
In a dim and deserted tourist walkway, the bluish light reflecting from the tank cast a pale glow on each visitor’s face.
Speaking of visitors, only two people were present in the walkway.
Fan Dongqing stood with arms folded, leaning against the wall, playing on his phone;
Ke Qingzheng adjusted his glasses and looked up at the massive tank, where a white whale was being devoured by Light-Eating Bees.
The scene before them was particularly gruesome and brutal. The enormous white whale curled at the bottom of the tank, with bloody wounds gouged open by bees and claws, losing even the strength to wail in pain.
A large swarm of Bee Race members crowded around its wounds, greedily sucking its blood.
The scent of blood wafted and spread, turning the bluish tank a deep red.
Ke Qingzheng walked over and sighed lightly, "These creatures won’t even spare the marine life in the aquarium."
"Just slaughter them," Fan Dongqing said without looking up, "Stop whining, the Japanese restaurant will be closed if we’re late."
Ke Qingzheng raised his hand, and the air condensed into a sharp arc, shattering the glass of the tourist tank.
In an instant, the bodies of the Bee Race were precisely cut in half, the air blade slashing them while dispelling the blood scent in the water pool.
With the glass shattered, the water from the giant tank came rushing out, roaring in like a flood.
Ke Qingzheng remained expressionless as a wall of air spread before him, shielding him from the incoming liquid.
"Let’s go, that’s all there is to it." He slowly turned and walked toward the aquarium hallway’s exit. Fan Dongqing followed.
Just as the two had walked out of the aquarium, they suddenly heard a loud explosion in the night, followed by bursts of fire and continuous explosions.
"What’s going on over there?" Fan Dongqing asked.
"It seems like the Light-Eating Bees hid in the factory, so Jiushijiu blew up the entire factory," Ke Qingzheng said.
"The pink-hair really... she strikes hard, she’ll probably get punished again after the mission ends," Fan Dongqing laughed.
In the distance, as the smoke cleared from the sky, it revealed a pink-haired twin-tail girl in a Russian military uniform with a military cap. She wore a backpack-like metal flying device on her back, enabling her to fly with jet flames and air currents—developed by Garfield for her.
At that moment, hovering above her head were sniper drones emitting a bluish glow. Missiles shot out from the barrels, turning the entire abandoned factory into a scene of purgatory.
Like a volcanic eruption, scalding lava spread across the ground, leaving nothing behind except a massive crater about a hundred meters in diameter. The lingering heat and rising white gas almost turned the crater’s view into a mirage.
Jiushijiu sensed the gaze from afar, turned her head, and haughtily looked up from under her military cap at Fan Dongqing and Ke Qingzheng, her pink twin-tails bobbing in the night wind.
Fan Dongqing inserted one hand into his pocket, using the other hand to send her a text message on his phone.
[Fan Dongqing: Cool.]
[Fan Dongqing: Pink-hair, interested in Japanese food? My treat.]
[Jiushijiu: Get lost, narcissistic guy.]
After sending the message, Jiushijiu raised a middle finger and stuck her tongue out at them. The flying device on her back then spewed a stream of flame-laden air, propelling her to another part of the night sky.
Fan Dongqing shook his head, "Shall we invite the old lady? Feels dull with just the two of us, and the white-hair’s been hanging with that big shot lately, can’t seem to get her to come out."
"Esther’s still busy," Ke Qingzheng said expressionlessly, "She’s responsible for the Light-Eating Bee’s base near the Lego Discovery Center."
... ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡⁂𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚⁂𝙣𝙚𝙩
Meanwhile, at the Osaka Lego Discovery Center, in the indoor children’s playground.
The lights flickered within the children’s playground, and the bodies of boys and girls hung beneath the ceiling.
The Bee Race detested human eyes, so the eyes were always eaten first. Their eye sockets were empty hollows, blood trickling down across their pale cheeks.
Most of the children’s organs had become dishes on the gourmet production line, sliding along the slide piece by piece into the mouths of the guests.
The Light-Eating Bees gathered around the slide for a feast, with only one smaller-sized Light-Eating Bee forced to fly under the ceiling, guarding the children’s bodies.
When the Light-Eating Bees clamored for more food, that particular bee would use its claws to carve out the corresponding parts of the bodies.
The meat would then land on the slide, smoothly sliding down to the ground, for the bees seated below to enjoy, akin to the hospitality of a Japanese sushi conveyor belt.
Before long, a black-haired, red-eyed Gothic girl walked into the children’s playground.
She drooped her eyelids, looking sleepy, with an expressionless pale face.
"Tired... making me work this late, it’s practically elder abuse," Esther mumbled.
Clutching a small bunny doll, suddenly, threads appeared above her head. Then the threads dropped down abruptly, with human-shaped marionettes tied to their ends descending from the sky.
They awakened one after another.
A troupe of dancers appeared, each wearing colorful dresses, their mouths sewn shut with threads, their lip corners curving into sweet smiles. Guided by the threads, their bodies tightened, and heads rose.
The Light-Eating Bees sensed something amiss, raising their eyes from the meat they had been eating, squinting to examine the approaching marionettes.
The dancers performed elegant swan and tango dances, sliding along the ground toward the Light-Eating Bees, moving so quickly that they appeared as shimmering streaks of light.
Despite their sharp dynamic vision, the Bee Race couldn’t discern their movements.
Then, amid graceful yet dangerous movements, they used invisible threads to bind the Light-Eating Bees together, and with a shudder of countless threads, shredded their bodies into innumerable blood curtains.
Silently, the blood fluttered down like snow, and the Bee Race’s meat chunks dropped to the ground piece by piece, with a pitter-patter sound.
Esther had already walked out of the Paradise without looking back, her pupils glistening with a dim red glow in the darkness.
Late night, Osaka Harbor District, a secluded motel.
After acquiring a large sum of money from Jack the Ripper, Cezar was now a wealthy man.
So, after Black Cocoon had excessively acted foolishly and was kicked out of the bookstore by Su Wei, Cezar accompanied Black Cocoon to this motel, renting two rooms for the week in one go.
He shared a room with Yaguba, while Black Cocoon stayed in the other.
Gu Wenyu had been traveling all day, so after removing his restraint belt and trench coat, he took a shower, drank a bottle of hot milk, and lay down on the bed, turning his head to look at the brightly lit Harbor District.
The night breeze blew in slowly, carrying the salty scent of seawater, while lost European birds flew between the city’s cables and iron networks.
Moments later, the phone on the bed suddenly vibrated. He picked up the phone and saw a voice invitation from Su Zimai.
Gu Wenyu raised his eyebrow and answered the call, placing the phone on the bed and quietly waiting for the other party to speak first—he was so tired that he couldn’t even be bothered to open his mouth.
"Still alive?" Su Zimai’s voice came through, as clear and lively as ever.
"What do you want?" Gu Wenyu asked.
"I’ve decided to call you every night to confirm you’re still alive." Su Zimai said.
"And what if I don’t pick up?" Gu Wenyu rolled his eyes.
"You better not ignore me." Su Zimai snorted, "Otherwise, if there’s a day you don’t answer, I’ll assume you’re already dead. Then I’ll complain to Dad and Big Brother, saying you’ve been wearing a mask and pretending to be a giant butterfly, fooling them!"
"Whatever, do as you please. Whether I answer or not depends on my mood." Gu Wenyu yawned, "Good night, little sis, I’m a bit tired, traveled all day..."
"Don’t sleep yet, I want to ask you a question."
"After the summer vacation ends, will you come back to school?"
"Of course, what else would a high school student do if not go to school?"
"That’s good..." Su Zimai sighed with relief, complaining, "Speaking of which, we go to the same high school, but you go to school every morning with that Qing-whatever person and just leave your little sister behind. How could you?!"
Gu Wenyu was startled for a moment, then looked down and remained silent for a few seconds, "It’s fine, I won’t go to school with him anymore."
"Really, when school starts again, I’ll set an alarm for five o’clock every morning to wake you up; if you don’t get up, I’ll unlock your door with a restraint belt and hang you outside the window, putting up a sign: ’This is our family’s sleeping pig Su Zimai’, happy?"
"Dare you?" Su Zimai said angrily, "If you bully me, I’ll report it to our big brother. I can’t beat you, but can he not?"
"Alright, alright, you even know how to use the esteemed Mr. Blue Arc to threaten me now, I surrender." Gu Wenyu chuckled softly, "Let’s talk tomorrow, I’m going to sleep now."
With that, he hung up Su Zimai’s call directly. She seemed to want to say something else, but Gu Wenyu didn’t listen and just turned on Do Not Disturb mode.
Gu Wenyu set his phone down and stared at the empty ceiling for a while.
Then, he slowly closed his heavy eyelids.
Afterwards, the night passed silently, and when Ji Minghuan woke up again, he was called by a cold female voice.
"Restricted Level Superpower User, Code 1002—’Ji Minghuan’, get up quickly and prepare yourself, the Mentor has something to convey."
He had just opened his eyes when a familiar voice came to his ear: "You’re awake."
Ji Minghuan turned his head and looked, the source of the voice was, of course, the Mentor sitting at the table drinking tea.
"Mentor, why do you always come without notifying?"
Ji Minghuan said while sitting up, looking speechless, "Trying to scare someone to death?"
"The Prophet sent us another letter, saying he would arrive here within ten days," the Mentor said.
Ji Minghuan was taken aback, thinking that meant by August 20th, the Prophet would definitely come to the base of the Salvation Society to meet him.
But who exactly is this Prophet? And what is the purpose of meeting me in person?
Ji Minghuan was filled with endless thoughts and completely puzzled.
"You don’t seem very happy?" He sat cross-legged on the bed, turning his head to look at the Mentor, "It’s just a Prophet, is there anything else bothering you to make your expression so constipated? Is there any good news?"
The Mentor was silent for a moment, "Indeed, we’ve received the latest information from the native inhabitants of the Whale Terrarium. They said the birth of a Bee King... must rely on devouring its own kind."
"Devouring its own kind?"
"Correct, if one of the Four Great Bee Lords can devour the others, it will become the Bee King," the Mentor said slowly, "And the Light-Eating Bees have evolved over 30 years in the outside world, each Bee Prince born from the Queen Bee is stronger than those 30 years ago."
He paused: "And the Bee King born from this process should be far stronger than we can imagine."
Ji Minghuan raised his eyebrow, showing an indifferent expression.
"Sounds fun though." He thought for a moment, "Wait, you said if a Bee Prince devours another, a Bee King would be born. Does that mean theoretically, in this batch of Light-Eating Bees, there could be..."
The Mentor interrupted him, "Yes, two Bee Kings."
