Chapter 64: Chapter 64
Erik's POV
"Still no news?" I ask Vincent, who is sitting across from me at my table at my office. Clara and I decided to accept what happened to our child, but I still couldn't give up. I will look for him as long as I want to.
"No, your majesty, still have no news," he said and put the rest of my paper works on my table.
"The members and family of Alpha Louis requested for them to join Silver Growler's pack as a royal guard," Vincent asked, and I looked at him with a confused look.
"Why are you telling me this?" I asked while slumping my back into my chair.
"Huh?" Vincent asked, confused at my words.
"What, huh? Why are you asking me that? You are the Alpha of the pack, not me. It's your decision, so why are you asking me?" I spoke.
Vincent replied with a surprised look, but he immediately masked it. "Yes, your majesty," He replied sheepishly and hid his smile. I just shook my head and returned my focus to my paper works.
"Well then, I will take my leave and handle Alpha Louis's pack," Vincent said, and I nodded in reply. In a few seconds, I heard the door being closed, and I gave all my attention to my work.
The paper works were mainly about the aftermath of the war and the progress of the country's wall. It was getting peaceful, and I hope our peace will last this time. Clara and my relationship are also getting better, and we stopped blaming someone and ourselves for what happened. Sometimes I come back to our room and see Clara crying while hugging the piece of cloth with our child's scent on it, but these past few days, I haven't seen her cry. She is starting to go out again and have a run, socializing in the kitchen with the pack members. I was glad she was finally starting to open up again to our pack.
In my case, nothing changed much. I wake up and have an excellent breakfast with Clara. Go to the office and work, have lunch with Clara again and have dinner, and then we will go to sleep. It was my daily routine, but I secretly went out sometimes and looked for any signs of our child. I can't give up and will never give up on looking for our child.
I also decided to release my mother from imprisonment, but I still had no courage to face her. Clara has been bugging me to talk to her, but I think it's not the right time. Clara also wanted to talk with her, but my mother was not feeling well the last time Clara tried to visit her.
While working on my paperwork, someone entered the office, and I smiled when I recognized the scent. It was my mate. Clara walked towards me and sat on my lap. "Are you busy?" She asked, and I hugged her, enjoying the smell of her scent.
"Not, just the usual stuff. What's up?" I asked while burying my face in her body.
"I want to invite you for a run. It's been a while since we ran together and visited that place," she said sweetly while playing with my hair.
"Yeah, we should go," I said while smiling. She smiled back at me and stood. She raised her hand and offered it to me. I smiled sweetly at her and gladly took Clara's hand.
We walked holding each other's hand until we got outside of our house. We were excited since this was our first run since the past incident. We both shifted to our wolf form and ran through the woods. We were running with all of our strength, competing with each other who would be the first to arrive at our favorite place. On the way to our favorite place, Clara threw some small rocks at me playfully. I dodged it easily and threw some small rocks at her too. We playfully attacked each other as we ran through the woods.
Clara and I noticed someone was following us, and Clara playfully rolled her eyes. We both know who it was. It was none other than Ian who was overly protective. Clara and I slowly ran so I could talk to Ian properly. "Get back I ordered Ian through the mind link.
"But, your majesty," Ian protested, and this time I was the one who rolled my eyes.
"I won't repeat it twice, Ian," I said but this time with a firm voice.
"Yes, your majesty," He whined, and in a few seconds, his presence was gone. Clara playfully nudged me, and I slightly pushed her away from me. We fought playfully while running through the woods until we arrived at our favorite place. Arriving at our spot, we slowly stopped and quietly calmed our breathing. I walked towards the lake for a drink, and Clara followed. After drinking, we lie on our stomachs while watching the scenery.
"So much happened," Clara started, and I nudged her body lightly.
"I'm fine, and I just hope this peace will last," Clara added, and I licked her face.
"It will. We are stronger and wiser now," I replied, and she leaned closer to me.
"You should talk with Ellie," she said while looking at me with serious eyes.
I nudged her playfully and licked her face. She giggled, "I will, don't worry," I replied.
"I will also go and talk to her, and it seems that she is still shocked and still hasn't gone out of her room even though the restrictions were gone," She said, and I looked at the beautiful pond, deep in thought.
"I know. I don't know how to face her or what to tell her. Talking out to her now makes me miss her," I said.
Clara leaned closer to me and started sniffing me. "She is y ur mother, after all," She whispered, and I rested my head above her head.
We lay down on the ground and watched the beautiful scenery in front of us. We enjoyed the sight quietly.
Clara's POV
Together with Erik, we enjoyed our precious time together watching and enjoying the beautiful sight. When the sun was down, and the only light visible outside was the moonlight, we decided to return to our house.
When we returned to the pack house, we were greeted by the pack members of Alpha Louis, who had recently joined the Silver Growler's pack. My brother Vincent accepted them without any second thought, and I am glad that all of the former pack members of Alpha Louis's pack decided to join.
All of them kneeled on one knee before us, and we both accepted their greetings. "Welcome, Erik said, and I smiled sweetly at them. All of them raised their heads and looked at us from below.
"Stand," Erik ordered them, and they all stood. "I hope you'll adjust well to your new home," I said, and they all nodded while smiling. Vincent took over after we talked to the new members while Erik and I made our way to our house.
We walked to our kitchen, and Erik cooked me some of my favorite meals. I just sat there quietly and watched his every move. The delicious smell of the food he cooked wandered around the kitchen for a few minutes. The smell was so delicious that it made my stomach grumble. After he served the food in front of me, I happily gobbled the food he cooked. The taste was so delicious that it made me hum happily. Erik sat beside me with a plate of food for himself and happily ate beside me.
I was okay and enjoying my food, but I suddenly remembered my childhood. "What's wrong?" Erik asked with a worried face. He must have felt what I was feeling in our mate's pull. When Erik's hand touched my back, my tears started to fall.
"I remembered our child," I said while sobbing. Erik hugged me immediately and whispered reassuring words into my ears until I calmed down. "I'm sorry, I just remember our child sometimes," I said while wiping my tears.
"It's okay, my love. No one can blame you for feeling that way. I also remember our child from time to time," he said and hugged me tightly again.
"Oh, moon goddess, thank you for this wonderful mate," I prayed and hugged Erik back. After calming down, we both finished our food quietly and went to our room. I took a bath and changed into clean clothes while Erik did the same after me. When Erik came out of our walk-in closet, he was fully dressed, and I looked at him with a confused look. "Where are you going?" I asked.
He smiled and walked towards me, who was lying on the bed. "I will visit with my mother and talk with her," he said seriously but smiled afterward. I nodded at him and he smiled sweetly at me. Erik kissed my head and left the room.
It was two or more hours before Erik returned, and he looked happy. They must have talked and fixed all the misunderstandings. I smiled sweetly at Erik and closed the book that I was reading. He came to me and kissed me lightly on the head. He then changed his clothes and lay down beside me. I cuddled closely to Erik while he was still reading some of his paper works. I was about to sleep when I got curious about their talk.
"How's Ellie?" I asked.
"She grew thin, and I was mad at myself when I saw her frail body," He replied.
"What did you both talk about?" I asked softly.
"I told her everything that has happened, and she got worried about you," he said and turned his head to look at me.
"I'll visit her tomorrow morning and ask her to join us for breakfast. She must have been so shocked," I said worriedly.
"I asked for her forgiveness, and we both cried earlier," Erik said while laughing.
"Really? That's going d. At least you both cleared the misunderstanding," I replied and cuddled closer to Erik. I closed my eyes, imagined the warmth I had last felt with my child, and fell asleep.
When I woke up in the morning, Erik went to his office, and I finished taking a shower. I planned on visiting Ellie and inviting her for breakfast. I ensured I looked okay in front of the mirror and left our room to visit Ellie.
I opened the room and saw Farkas standing outside my room, guarding me. I smiled at him and he greeted me respectfully. I walked straight to Ellie's room while Farkas followed from behind. I knocked on her door, and she slowly opened the door for me. She was shocked to see me but immediately changed it into a smile.
She opened the door wide enough for me to come in. She offered me a chair and served me some tea. She sat in front of me, and I smiled bashfully at her. "Hi," I said softly.
"Hello, how are you, sweetheart?" She asked, and I reached out for her hand on the table.
"I am getting by. How about you? I heard you haven't left the room?" I asked.
Ellie smiled awkwardly and avoided eye contact. "I can't believe what I heard. All this time, it was him, and I let my son follow that bastard around. I could feel what my mate would feel about his betrayal. He was like a brother to him," Ellie said while looking outside the window.
"You, are you okay?" Ellie asked me while looking at me with a serious face.
"I am okay now, it was hard at first, but thanks to Erik being patient with me, I managed to pull through. There were times that I remember the warmth of my child that I last felt before they took the baby away from me. The child's presence on my stomach remains that sometimes I think it is still here," I said while caressing my stomach.
"It still pains me but not like the first time I closed myself to the world, but everyone helped me to go back," I said while smiling bitterly at Ellie, and she held my hand and squeezed it tightly.
