Chloe POV

I walk across the skywalk to work. The day is beautiful after such a fantastic night with Axel. There is nothing about him that I do not enjoy. I want to explore more and more of him and learn about him. I never thought I would involve myself with a wolf in a million years, yet here I am in love with one and probably going to marry him.

I have a lot to learn about him and his family; being a part of a pack will be something new for me. I do occasionally hear my wolf since being around him. I have never listened to my wolf before, but my wolf screams for him when I am around Axel. Maybe she needed a push to come to the surface. I wonder if Cane has ever heard his wolf. Not that he would tell me now. I am sure he hates me.

When I get to the end of the skywalk and open the door to go into the building, security is waiting for me. I wonder what the hell is going on today. It seems crazy around her.

"Is it always this crazy," I ask the security guard.

"No, it is not, but an employee was fired this morning, and she is making threats toward you. Mr. Arden asked that I escort you to your office," the security guard says.

I follow him to my office, trying to hide the fact I am scared. I know Jessie was fired, and I am sure she thinks it is my fault, thanks to Andrea. Andrea just had to run her mouth about me finding an accounting error. None of this is my fault. This situation, this theft, is Jessie's fault, and I am willing to bet that Andrea is involved too. I am going to dig deep and see if I can link Andrea to all of it. Andrea was awful concerned about the situation.

I go into my office and log into my computer. I am a little earlier, but I am closer now. I think I will like being this close to work and Axel. We also have a place to go for lunch if we are hungry for something other than food. I smile like a fool thinking about him and being with him. I have to stop thinking about sex with him. My phone rings. I look down to see it is Axe. I answer it. "Hello," I say.

"Hey, my love, I have a lot to handle, but I will come to see you at lunch," Axel says.

"I understand. I have a lot to do this morning. I have a hunch about something, and I want to look into it," I say.

"Care to share?" Axel questions me.

"Well, I think the big mouthed spy is involved, so I am going to look into it and then reconcile all the accounts Jessie has handled that are suspicious," I say.

"Good girl, I miss you," Axel says.

"I miss you too. Bye," I say. I hang up the phone. I already know where this conversation is going, and I need to get to work. I log into the other Axel's system and start looking into the accounts. I go through everything looking for a connection. I hear a key in the door to my office, and then it opens. It is Axel.

He closes and locks the door. "Come here, please," Axel says.

I get up and go to him. Axel grabs me hard and pulls me to him. "I wanted to tell you that I loved you, but you hung up on me," Axel says.

"I am sorry," I say. I touch his face and smile at him. Axel reaches around and firmly holds onto my ass.

"Maybe I will spank your ass, so you do not do that again," Axel says. He is smiling, but I cannot tell if he is joking or being serious. I think about it for a moment and then impulsively turn around and bend over my desk. I lift my skirt.

"Go ahead, daddy, spank me," I say, laughing.

I hear the belt coming out of the loops of his pants. The sound makes me instantly wet. Then he smacks my ass hard three times. I am moaning, and my pussy is on fire when he finishes. I turn around and look at him.

"You are not supposed to enjoy your punishment," Axel says.

"Then marry me, say yes to my proposal," Axel says.

"I am afraid, Axel. I am afraid of your pack and that life. I am sorry; I am just so scared right now. I do want to marry you, but I am terrified," I say.

Axel takes my hand. He pulls me so close to him that I can feel his heart beating with mine. "Tonight, I will take you to meet my parents, and then you will give me an answer. After you meet my parents, I promise you will know that I can love you and treat you better than anyone ever could," Axel says.

I lay my head on his chest and begin to cry. Axel reaches down and touches my chin. "No tears, my love," Axel says.

"Okay. I will meet your family, and then I will give you my answer," I say.

Axel kisses my forehead. "You are my future, Chloe. You are my mate. There is no one else for me; surely you feel it too," Axel says.

I look into his eyes. "I heart my wolf yesterday screaming for you, calling out to my mate," I say.

"You should listen to your wolf," Axel says.

"I know you are right, Axel," I say.

Axel unlocks the door and leaves me to finish my work. I have agreed to go to wolf territory and meet his pack. I am so afraid, but if I truly want a life with him, I have to do this. I have to put my fears aside and accept that I am part wolf and the man I love is an Alpha.
