Chapter 70: Chapter 70

The situation was not right.

Seraphina Redgrave’s mind had just registered the thought when she was already standing in front of Nanny Lynch and Granny Coleman.

Mia Redgrave’s group of fair-weather friends were dumbstruck by the scene in front of them.

Mia was calling Jonathan Redgrave, but she was so startled by the sudden appearance of these people that her phone slipped from her grasp, and she kept retreating until she bumped into Seraphina.

Seraphina pushed Mia away with a reverse hand.

Mia screamed wildly, then directly crashed into the arms of one of the black-clad men. The man looked down, immediately grabbed her clothes: "Found her!"

The leader among them shouted.

Seraphina immediately registered what was happening.

Serena Lowell, hiding behind a few girls, took out her phone but was spotted by the black-clad man, who pointed a gun at her head: "If you want to live, don’t make that call."

Crying, Serena lowered her phone.

Mia was being dragged to the car, and she shouted threats: "Are you crazy? How dare you touch me? I’m Ethan Sterling’s woman!"

"It’s because you’re Ethan Sterling’s woman that we’re taking you!"

The black-clad man seemed intent on hauling Mia into the car directly.

It was unexpected for someone to make a move against Mia so quickly due to being displeased with Ethan Sterling.

While observing the situation, Seraphina protected Nanny Lynch and Granny Coleman as they slowly backed away. Mia was struggling maniacally and suddenly charged forward to grab Seraphina: "I don’t want to go! Why don’t you take her instead?"

Seraphina was born to be Mia Redgrave’s scapegoat.

Mia was in trouble now, so it was only fitting that Seraphina take the fall and die for her.

Even being pulled by the kidnappers, Mia still managed to think this way.

The black-clad man struggled to drag this hysterical woman, but Mia clung to Seraphina as if she were a lifeline.

Seraphina looked at the frenzied Mia and was about to make her move to get rid of her when a gun barrel was suddenly pressed against her head the very next second.

The leader of the black-clad men, seeing the chaos between the two women, issued an order: "Take them all."

With people coming and going, if they continued to tangle, no one would be taken.

Seraphina had nothing in her hands, powerless against these armed men.

As she was being dragged into the car, she cast a cold glance at Mia.

"Miss! You can’t take our Miss!"

Nanny Lynch and Granny Coleman were nearly frantic, their belongings left behind as they begged them to leave Seraphina, "You can’t! You can’t take our Miss!"

Nanny Lynch and Granny Coleman were taken along as well.

What an interesting twist to put one’s life and family in someone else’s hands .

The Presidential Palace.

The lavishly decorated dining room, surrounded by well-trained bodyguards and attendants, had a long dining table laden with a plethora of dishes that dazzled the eyes. Those who could take a seat here were all of eminent status.

Yet nearly everyone was focused on one person.

He sat in his place, expressionless, not sparing a glance for those present. His hand, wielding a gold knife, sliced through the steak without intent to eat, seemingly cutting just for amusement.

"Young Master Sterling, the fluctuations in Sterling’s stocks are unpredictable, with each change being particularly significant, they’re greatly affecting the national economy," a high-ranking official noted.

Ethan Sterling has been causing trouble lately, whimsically manipulating the stock market, riling up investors to the point of storming the Presidential Palace.

Ethan always acted according to his mood. If he was irritable, he would start causing trouble; no one knew what was bothering him these days.

Still silent, Ethan’s face was dark and grim.

For an entire week, he had brought out the woman sent by Seraphina Redgrave in public, allowing journalists to report excessively. Seraphina withstood it, refusing to soften even slightly towards him.

Moreover, she never spoke a word of truth to him.

Without looking for her for a week, she was able to completely ignore him.

The President, who sat at the head of the table, just shy of middle age and without the slightest air of superiority, patted Ethan’s shoulder, adopting a humbler stance: "Has someone upset you these days? If it’s something I can help with, I definitely will."

If Ethan was unhappy, innocent people suffered.

Even as the President, he had no way to stop Ethan from doing what he wanted.

"I don’t need your help."

Ethan spoke coldly, slicing his steak into even smaller pieces.

How dare she ignore him, Ethan Sterling?

Just then, there was suddenly a commotion outside. Armed guards stopped them, and upon hearing the noise, the President glanced over and immediately reprimanded: "Use your brains! Isn’t Nathan Ayers one of Ethan’s people?"

The guards instantly let him through.

Nathan approached Ethan, nodding briefly to the men at the table, then lowered his head to speak to Ethan: "Miss Mia Redgrave has been kidnapped."

Ethan didn’t even know the name of the woman he had taken to several events.

Given his expression, even a fool would understand Nathan Ayers realized Ethan’s true thoughts, so he continued: "Miss from Hibiscus Garden was also present and has been caught up in this disaster."

Ethan listened, his hand slicing the meat paused for a moment, then he sneered: "Interesting, now she should know what danger is."

Anyone daring to touch someone associated with Ethan must be at their wits’ end.

Let’s see how miserable Seraphina becomes without him as her support.

"You’re not going to do anything?"

Nathan was a little anxious.

Ethan had never had a weakness. When his father’s illegitimate brother had been kidnapped, and the kidnappers had sent bloody human tissue to him, he hadn’t even frowned. Though it might be concealing it, Nathan believed that the lady from Hibiscus Garden had some place in Ethan’s heart.

This was why he said it.

Upon hearing Nathan’s words, Ethan couldn’t help but laugh coldly, turning to Nathan: "What is she to me? Would I make an exception for her? Nathan, clear the trash from your head and wake up."

Why would he risk it for a woman?

Was he mad, or was Nathan foolish?

Nathan was rendered speechless, his face pale.

"Ethan, what’s going on? Need my assistance from the Presidential Palace?"

Seeing Ethan’s grim expression, the President couldn’t help but ask.

"No issues." Ethan twirled the knife in his hand, "Just an unruly mutt that got into trouble."

Just a stand-in that dared to use him as a tool, what a joke, hurry up and die.

After these words, he stabbed a piece of steak into his mouth, chewing slowly, seemingly in a better mood.

Seeing Ethan’s expression lighten, everyone thought that Nathan must have been discussing trivial matters, so they began to flatter Ethan.

"For someone to dare defy Young Master Sterling, they deserve to die."

"And not a complete corpse remaining."

Ethan chuckled slightly at these superficial compliments, sipping a mouthful of red wine, intending to continue dining.

But before his knife could touch the beef, he suddenly stood up: "Apologies, everyone, I’ll take my leave now. We’ll meet again another day."

Everyone at the table was dumbfounded.

Leaving just like that?

"Nathan, gather the men,"

Ethan exited the dining room, speaking as he walked, the smile on his lips vanished, and the indifference in his eyes completely faded, leaving only a chilling determination.

Seraphina Redgrave was under his protection, and now they wanted to die!
