Chapter 66: Chapter 66

The two people’s gazes met through the curtain of rain.

At the moment he saw Seraphina Redgrave, Ethan Sterling’s expression softened a bit, but he didn’t seem to notice himself.

He waved slowly, "Come here."

Seraphina internally mocked his way of calling someone over, yet she still walked over slowly. Nanny Lynch and Granny Coleman immediately looked tense.

When she approached, Ethan grabbed Seraphina’s delicate hand and pulled her under his umbrella.

Seraphina leaned into Ethan’s chest, her eyes meeting the photos on the two gravestones.

Just as she thought, they were both beauties.

Ethan was so handsome, naturally, he had good genes.

"Do you know who the people on the gravestones are?"

Ethan looked at Seraphina, as though he had already guessed what Nanny Lynch and Granny Coleman would tell her.

"Do you know how to pay respects?"

Seraphina still said nothing. Ethan wasn’t irritated either. Next to them, a bodyguard quickly took the umbrella from Ethan and then wrapped his arms around her from behind, guiding her hands to be held in prayer.

Seraphina stood motionless, doing whatever Ethan instructed.

A storm surged inside her heart.

Why did Ethan bring her here?

She was just a stand-in kept by Ethan; what was the point of her being here to pay respects on behalf of the rightful one?

Once again, she suspected Ethan went to Frosland to learn mind-reading, as he approached, interrupting her chaotic thoughts by whispering in her ear with careful enunciation, "Don’t worry, you are qualified to pay respects to them, and apart from me, you’re the first to have such a qualification."

Seraphina couldn’t help but widen her eyes.

So, this place wasn’t even open to Ethan’s father, yet she had been brought here?

Could she choose not to have this privilege?

Nanny Lynch and Granny Coleman were dumbfounded, how was Young Master Sterling not angry?

And he personally taught Miss Redgrave how to pay respects?

Did Young Master Sterling change his temperament today?

Ethan held her hand for a long time before letting go, looked down at Seraphina; she stood there, still with that dazed and clueless expression, water droplets sliding down her pointed chin, adding to her beauty.

Ethan’s expression darkened as he looked at the bodyguard who had just brought Seraphina in.

The bodyguard immediately knelt on the ground, lowering his head respectfully, "I’m sorry, Young Master Sterling."

Ethan didn’t need to hear these after-the-fact apologies.

Seeing this scene, Ethan said expressionlessly, "Stay kneeling."

After speaking, he gently flicked the water droplet off Seraphina’s chin with his fingertip, "Let’s go."

Nanny Lynch and Granny Coleman exchanged looks of surprise, Miss Redgrave might really be different to Young Master Sterling.

Ethan pulled Seraphina’s hand and led her into the house; the bodyguard hurriedly followed, holding the umbrella over their heads, not daring to let them get another drop wet.

The rain continued to fall heavier. Water streaks on the windows flowed slowly, appearing like a painting in Seraphina’s eyes.

Seraphina was led to sit on the sofa, only to watch as Ethan lay down on her lap, looking at his phone, not knowing what he was viewing.

Seraphina’s persona was still a fool, entirely incapable of pushing away this bothersome guy.

Thunder and lightning outside, yet the interior was peculiarly quiet.

With nothing to do, Seraphina’s eyes turned, starting to observe the manor’s decor.

She saw the "Snow Woman" hanging in the center of the hall.

So it was moved here.

Only then did she realize this place was no private manor, merely a fully equipped mausoleum.

Having figured all this out, Seraphina couldn’t help but look at the clock on the wall.

Mia Redgrave would be arriving by two.

Although indeed she wanted Mia Redgrave to make a fool of herself, this place was not quite right...

Seraphina started to regret, but now there was nothing she could do.

"Young Master Sterling, the ginger tea is ready."

A maid walked up with ginger tea.

Ethan sat up, turning back into the cold Reaper.

The maid approached, kneeling in front of Seraphina, serving her a spoon of ginger tea.

Seraphina obediently drank it, but the strong ginger taste made her cough. To expel the cold, Nanny Lynch had indeed overdid the brew.

She looked at the large bowl of ginger tea, feeling bitter.

She slowly turned her head, seeing Ethan watching her with amusement, as if watching her drink ginger tea was more interesting than playing with a phone.

The maid scooped another spoonful of ginger tea.

Seraphina’s eyes glazed over, reluctantly swallowing, pretending to feel nothing so as not to give Ethan a chance to mock her.

Unexpectedly, Ethan laughed even harder.

Nanny Lynch and Granny Coleman’s expressions gradually eased.

It seemed Young Master Sterling’s bad temper disappeared around Seraphina.

Indeed, this was quite good.

This kind of Young Master appeared as though even the pain within him had vanished.

The room was harmonious, when suddenly a bodyguard approached the door, respectfully saying, "Young Master Sterling, Miss Redgrave requests to see you."

Seraphina drank the ginger tea without change in her expression, though her heart nearly leaped out of her throat.

If she had known this private manor was such a place, she would never have done this.

Unfortunately, things had proceeded to this point.

Beside her, Ethan hadn’t moved his eyes from Seraphina. Upon hearing this, he spoke, emphasizing each word, "Which Miss Redgrave?"

"Jonathan Redgrave’s daughter, Mia Redgrave."

Seraphina cautiously sneaked a look at Ethan. His expression darkened almost instantly, his voice turning icy, "Why is she back?"

"The Secretary’s office said there was something on your schedule that she wanted to discuss with you about donating to impoverished areas, notified her by phone this morning."

Seraphina expected Ethan to at least call Nathan Ayers, who was handling business in D City, to ask what was going on. She wasn’t afraid, no matter who it was, nothing could be uncovered.

But Ethan did nothing, only appeared increasingly furious, his gaze turning ever colder.

"Alright then, let her in."

After speaking, Ethan stood up directly, as if heading out to see Mia.

What was going on? Was he going to meet her already? Did he truly believe Nathan’s arrangements had no issue? Was Mia about to meet her downfall? ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ N0v3l.Fiɾe.net

Seraphina was thinking about the weather and couldn’t drink the ginger tea fed to her any longer; Nanny Lynch couldn’t help but prompt, "Miss? Hurry up and drink."

Instead, Ethan suddenly turned, his icy gaze lingered on Seraphina for ten whole seconds, making her feel as though her hairs would stand on end.

Suddenly, Ethan walked over, knocking the bowl from Nanny Lynch’s hands to the ground, his expression extremely unpleasant, and his voice low and frightening, "Well done..."
