Chapter 575: Chapter 575

"Spill it, where did you sneak off to without me?" Titus Zane arrived, Alder Locke had already dispelled his gloominess, looking relaxed without any sign of unhappiness.

Sitting across from Alder Locke, Titus Zane lifted his hand to tuck his hanging long hair behind his ear, as a way to hide his guilt.

"Just now... I encountered an acquaintance, so..."

"You run into acquaintances even in Capital City? How come I don’t know you have so many friends?" Alder Locke asked with a half-smile. Although it was just a lighthearted joke, Titus Zane always felt like he was being suspected.

With a faint cough, calming the panic inside, and recalling the chance meeting with Wesley Foley a few days ago, Titus Zane felt a bit more justified.

"Oh, a former boss from when I was working in Banyan City, you should know him,"

"That pretty boy?" Alder Locke raised an eyebrow, but Titus Zane frowned disapprovingly. Everyone called Wesley Foley a pretty boy; Nathan Moore did, and so did Alder Locke.

"Right, he has always been involved in business here, heard he’s developing a new product with Uncle Samuel’s company."

Alder Locke nodded, looking every part the part. Perhaps peeved about Titus Zane’s secret rendezvous with Nathan Moore, he reverted back to his carefree demeanor.

"Aren’t you not involved in business? How come you’re aware of these things?" Titus Zane couldn’t help but be curious, only to see Alder Locke glance over, his gaze slanting towards Titus Zane, "Just because I’m not in business doesn’t mean I know nothing, spending my days in idleness doesn’t mean I’m brainless."

Alder Locke’s words were loaded, but the simple-minded Titus Zane didn’t delve into it, looking around and saying, "Let’s go, it’s getting late, we should head back, or Grandpa will worry."

Alder Locke’s gaze made Titus Zane uncomfortable, it was akin to being seen through and yet tinged with contempt, a hint of disdain. Just as he was about to ask if he was going or not, Alder Locke lifted his brows and asked.

"Did you have lunch with that acquaintance just now?"

"No, I didn’t," they were only busy consuming each other, with no time for anything else and rushing to get back; prompted by Alder Locke, Titus Zane realized his stomach was practically collapsing.

"Let’s eat first, then head back." Fınd the newest release on 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹✶𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲✶𝗻𝗲𝘁

"If we’ve been out for so long, what if Grandpa asks?"

Giving Titus Zane a sidelong glance, Alder Locke raised his hand and snapped his fingers at the café’s service staff, "Don’t worry, I’ll shield you, Grandpa Zane won’t ask."

A weight lifted from Titus Zane’s heart, but he missed the other implication in Alder Locke’s words.

Following Alder Locke to a Chinese restaurant, in high spirits, his appetite also increased.

Even flavors he didn’t like before seemed much tastier now, especially after being active for so long.

Alder Locke quietly took note of Titus Zane’s abnormal behavior, maintaining a normal exterior while his heart churned with turmoil.

Using the excuse of shopping to secretly meet with a man, ha, it’d be interesting to see how Grandpa Zane would react if he knew.

After lunch, the two took Little Zhang’s car back to the mansion.

Samuel Zane was resting in his own room, Abigail Zimmerman was not there, Titus Zane went straight to his room with his painting supplies, leaving Alder Locke alone in the living room.

Watching the woman’s figure disappear up the stairs, Alder Locke turned and headed towards Samuel Zane’s room.

With a gentle knock on the door, Samuel Zane who had just gotten up said, "Come in." Alder Locke pushed the door and entered, smiling and saying.

"Grandpa Zane, did I disturb your nap?"

"No, I’ve been awake for quite a while," Samuel Zane was sitting at a table next to the bed, holding something in his hand and reading, "Take a seat."
