Chapter 555: Chapter 555
"Titus Zane, who are you talking to?" Hearing the voice, Abigail Zimmerman leaned forward to look and, seeing the man standing opposite Titus Zane, put down the cereal box in her hand and walked over.
"Madam." Wesley Foley nodded slightly past Titus Zane and greeted Abigail Zimmerman. It seemed the two knew each other.
Titus Zane was surprised, looked at Wesley Foley, then turned to watch Aunt Abby coming over.
"Wesley, you’re also shopping at the supermarket," Abigail Zimmerman stopped beside Titus Zane, greeted Wesley Foley with a smile, and then asked with puzzlement, "What happened, didn’t go to the research base today?"
Wesley Foley smiled, still looking gentle and refined, but he appeared to have a lot of respect for Abigail Zimmerman.
"No, Amelia insisted on coming to the supermarket, so... it was postponed."
Abigail Zimmerman looked towards Amelia; people of a certain age all like children.
"Two years have passed, and Amelia has grown so much."
"Indeed, she’s already five this year." Wesley Foley also lowered his gaze to his daughter. His eyes couldn’t hide the doting love for his daughter, "Amelia, call her grandma."
The little girl, hand held by her father and the other holding a bag of chips, shuffled her tiptoes on the ground, blinked her big eyes curiously at Abigail Zimmerman, and timidly called out, "Grandma."
"Ah, what a good child."
Titus Zane stood to the side, eyes lowered, and the upturned corner of his lips couldn’t hide the self-mockery.
It seemed that grandfather was right; she was indeed easily deceived, taking everyone’s superficial care as genuine warmth.
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Abigail Zimmerman turned her face to ask, "Titus Zane, do you know Wesley?"
Titus Zane lifted his eyes, and before he could open his mouth, Wesley Foley had already explained.
"Madam, she... used to be my assistant."
"...Really?" Abigail Zimmerman looked incredulous, glancing back and forth between the two, "What a coincidence, my niece used to be an assistant for you."
Titus Zane didn’t say much, just maintained the curvature of his lips, glanced at her, and Wesley Foley said with a smile, "Perhaps as Madam said, it’s fate."
Although it was said in a normal tone, if you listened carefully, there was a hint of regret.
Not wanting to listen to any more polite talk, Titus Zane spoke up, "Aunt Abby, it’s getting late, we should head back."
"Yes, okay," Abigail Zimmerman complied, then said to Wesley Foley, "Wesley, we’re heading back first, sometime bring Amelia over to our place."
"Sure, take care, Madam."
With polite lips curved in a smile, Wesley Foley watched them leave. Before departing, Titus Zane merely nodded faintly, without saying goodbye, and then left arm in arm with Abigail Zimmerman.
Watching their receding backs, the warm smile on Wesley Foley’s face gradually disappeared, and his phoenix eyes narrowed, his gaze becoming distant.
"Daddy, Amelia likes that pretty sister." Seeing Titus Zane leave, Amelia also became sullen. Orıginal content can be found at 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵~𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖~𝙣𝙚𝙩
Wesley Foley lowered his gaze to his daughter, whose eyes still followed Titus Zane’s retreating figure, "Does Amelia not like mommy?"
Amelia lifted her little face to look at her dad, "But when will mom get up to play with Amelia?"
Amelia’s words struck at Wesley Foley’s heart. Squatting down, hands on his daughter’s shoulders, Wesley Foley said, "Amelia, even if mommy can’t tell you stories or play with you, she is still Amelia’s mommy, remember that?"
Amelia pursed her lips and nodded, "Remembered."
Already in a bad mood, and then running into Wesley Foley, Titus Zane’s feelings became even more complex.
On the way back, she rested a hand on her forehead, gazing outside in a daze.
