Chapter 172: Chapter 172

In The Hospital

As soon as Edwin watched the doctor coming from Rebecca's ward. He walked towards him.

"Doctor, how is she and m…" He shrugs to say 'my'.

"And her baby…" He changed the words. To not tell his fatherly identity in front of others until Rebecca accepts him as her man.

The doctor adjusted his glasses and looked at him with a professional expression.

"Sir, may I know what is your relationship with the patient?"

Edwin fell into deep silence before finally responding with a serious tone, "I'm her ex-boss."

The doctor's brows raised a little to his answer like he didn't buy his response but still he nodded, "I see…"

"So, how is she?" Edwin inquired.

"Don't worry. Both mother and child are fine. There is no injury found on her. But still, you should ask her to go for a checkup with her maternity doctor."

Edwin nodded while he continued.

"For her health, I checked her, she fell unconscious because of panicking. In normal terms, She's just stressed out about the situation and her blood pressure has increased. But now she is completely fine. The incident should have terrified her to faint." The doctor greatly explained the situation.

To hear there is no injury, Edwin felt relaxed but at the same hearing that she's faint because of shock. He felt sour with himself. That he could come faster and get her out of there.

He felt bad to see her go through so many ups and downs during her pregnancy time. Even when he is here to protect her.

"Sir, are you alright?" the doctor's voice attracted his attention back to him. To lose those deep thoughts.

"Yes…" He halted for a second before finally responding, "Yes, I'm fine."

The doctor nodded and showed a concerned smile like he caught something in his eyes when he replied.

"Sir, I want you to do something." The doctor's words made Edwin turn serious.

"What is that? Is there more to inform?" He felt serious.

However, the doctor shook his head in denial showing a tiny smile to reassure him it was not serious.

"Sir, If you can inform her family, just do that or send a nurse a number and she will do that for her." The doctor's words made him nod.

"Thank you, doctor. But no need for that. Because my assistant already called her friend as she lives with her." Edwin explained to him.

"Alright then." The doctor smiled with satisfaction. As he looked at his wristwatch, "Now, I should leave. I need to check another patient."

"Thank you, doctor." Edwin nodded and the doctor responded with a small smile before turning to leave and going to the other ward which is just a few meters from Rebecca's ward.

However, before the doctor could enter, Edwin called him from behind.

"Doctor! Wait!"

Hearing him, the doctor stopped on his way and turned to listen to him.

Watching him stop, Edwin soon walked toward him with big steps.

"Sir, do you want to know more?" The doctor politely smiled.

"Doctor, you didn't inform me. When she can finally going to open her eyes and how many days she needs to be here in rest?" Edwin's words made the Doctor smile awkwardly.

"Oh, I apologize for not reporting that. I don't know how I forget…" Edwin nodded, "It's okay."

He waited for the doctor to continue, "Sir, there is nothing to stress about. She will wake up in a few hours or it will take morning. Until then let her rest. It will be helpful for her recovery faster."

"What about staying here?" Edwin inquiries.

"Let her wake up first. But she doesn't need to stay in the hospital, I can tell you that." The doctor's words made him breathe out in relief.

Doctor watches his bows go down lightly to gear his response while his corner lips are a little raised.

"Doctor, can I see her now? Edwin raised a question. To which doctor nodded his head, " Yes, you can. Just don't disturb her in her sleep. She needs a rest after a day of suffering."

Edwin understood his words and shortly responded, "I understood, doctor. I'll be careful."

The doctor nodded and tapped his shoulder before flashing a generous smile on his face.

"You should do better. When she's carrying your child." Edwin's lips pressed tightly. He doesn't understand how he learned that.

But the doctor soon responds, "Don't worry Sir, I'm never going to speak about that. I just guessed that and now watching your reaction. I believe I'm right."

Edwin stays silent while the doctor bid his farewell after saying him to take care of her.

.

.

Edwin opened the door of her ward slowly and entered with a light step. He looked at Rebecca who was sleeping in the middle of the room on the hospital bed. He slowly walked towards her bed and took a seat on the chair beside it.

He glanced at her face which looked tired and a little pale still even in her sleep. He raised both his hands to go on her hand resting on the bed and held it between his palms.

Before he inhaled a deep breath and let it press against his forehead with closed eyes.

He could smell her hand where there was still a light fragrance of books.

"Rebecca…" He whispered to her with so much care and so lightly that he could only hear that.

"Sorry to be late..." He apologized with a guilty tone.

Not to protect her from those disgusting guys attacking her. If he knew those two guys' intentions on his first day. He will make sure to run their life. Gouge their eyes out to even look at her with that bad intention. But he will surely punish them for what they did.

He could not forget the library room scene where he witnessed the two guys trying to rape her. They tied her and pushed the clothes on her mouth to stop her from shouting.

His hand wrapped tightly on her hand to think all that. As he felt anger almost ready to burst out and he wanted to rush and beat those bastards again until all their blood ran from their bodies.

But for now, Rebecca is his priority. He can finish those both any time he wants. And Sam already promised to do his best to make them dreadful.

He glanced at Rebecca and thought if he didn't rescue her on time. He could not imagine how those two torchers her and killed their baby.

This kind of Imagine feared him and let every single vein visibly pop up on his forehead at this moment.

He felt his breathing become harder as he filled with more rage for those bastards.

He kissed her hand lightly and mumbled out in a depressing voice, "Thank you…thank you so much for staying safe…you can't imagine how scared I felt to watch you like that…" As he completed these words, his breath turned heavier. He felt his heart tighten.
