Chapter 29: Chapter 29
Chapter 28
Alex POV
I walked in the hospital with a big smile on my face. Kaiilyah will be released today and instead of going back to Carlos's place, she'll come back with me to California. Carlos wasn't pleased with her decision but he realized that she needed to make her own decision and so she's coming home with me.
I got so excited about the release that I wanted to stay the night with her. I was also afraid that she might change her mind and decide to stay here but she wouldn't allow it. I smiled at the memory.
"No, I'm going to stay here with you." I stretched my feet out and rest my hands at the back of my neck and then close my eyes pretending to sleep.
She lightly pushed my shoulder, "No, you need to go back to the hotel and get some sleep."
"But I want to stay with you." I stretched my words, pout and blinked my lashes for emphasis.
She rolled her eyes and smiled. "But you stink and need to shower," she replied in the same tone I used.
"I don't stink," I said with a frown. I lift my arms to my nose and sniffed. I smelt okay, better than how I smell after the gym.
"Yes, you do."
"No, I don't." I defended.
"Yes, you do."
I rolled my eyes, "You haven't been awake for a week yet and you're already giving me trouble."
She shrugged and grinned, "That's because I'm a troublemaker and you don't mind because you love me."
I smiled at her. "I do."
"Good. Now leave. I will not marry a man with bad hygiene." She waved me out of the room.
I smiled.
Okay, she caught me with those words. Not that I had bad hygiene but she's been awake for three days. I want to spend as much time as I can with her. I want her to know that she means the world to me and I will not lose her again.
I can't. I won't.
I got up and walked over to her bed. I bend and kiss her on the forehead like I've done while she was still in a coma and for the past three days. "Goodbye, my love. I love you."
She smiled. "Goodbye."
I walked out of her room with a smile. I didn't mind that she didn't tell me she loved me too. Santiago told me to take things slow. I will take things as slow as possible. I want her to know the new me.
I walked to her room. I knocked on the door and entered. The doctor, Santiago, Alliyah and Carlos were already present.
"Nice for you to join us Mr. Carter, I was just explaining to the others that Ms. Bisson is still taking medication and since she still hasn't recovered her memory you guys should take it slow." Dr. Baines warned. "Make sure she has at least ten hours of sleep each day. She needs it." he paused and look at his clipboard. "I cannot tell you when she will regain her memory but as I said she will."
"But Dr. Baines, Paige in "The Vow" never regained her memory. What if Kalliyah is like her and doesn't regain hers?" Alliyah interrupted.
The doctor smiled and rubbed the back of his head as if he was nervous. "You see Ms. Bisson, that was a rare case. Both women were in an accident but Kalliyah's head was not hit as bad as I think Paige's own was. If I remember clearly Paige was in a coma from a longer time than Kalliyah which shows that she will indeed recovery. Her brain scan has shown an increased amount of activities. Just not as much as someone like you but as she recovers her brain activity will increase don't worry she's perfectly fine.
"You guys are talking as if I'm not here. Hello and by the way Doc, I'm not perfectly fine. No one is perfect." I smiled Kalliyah although she doesn't remember anything her smart-ass attitude is still there. I smiled at that. That's what drew me to her the first time we met. I smile at the memory.
"Why are you following me?" she flashed with anger. I looked at her admiring her features, which I shouldn't be doing. But I couldn't help it. Her grey eyes were memorizing. I opened my mouth to say something when her hands came close to my face. "Don't give me crap, I know you're following me. What do you want?" she barked.
How can such a beautiful person behave the way she does? I looked at her now with disgust.
I grimace. Yeah, I wasn't so nice to her when we first met or the last time we were in California but I plan on making up for all that and more.
The doctor laughed and brought me out of reverie. "Well, that's true, but you know what I'm saying. Make sure you take your medication every day. You come back here for a check-up in two-weeks time. We'll give you a brain scan to see what's going on up there but that's only if you haven't recovered from your memory loss before the appointment." The doctor tap his board and smile. "It was lovely having you here as a patient, Ms. Bisson. See you in two weeks." he then turn to leave.
"Wait!" I shouted after him. "We're planning on leaving for California tomorrow. Is there any doctors there you can recommend?"
The doctor turned and smile, "Dr. Azar, he's a private neurologist in Beverly Hills. I'll get his number for you before you leave." I thanked him and he turns to leave the room. When he was gone Carlos was the first to speak.
"Are you sure you want to go to California? You can stay here with me. Your things are already at my place. I don't want you to hassle yourself." Carlos hated me and he didn't hide his hatred for me either but when we're around her he completely ignores me which works for me. He made it clear to me that he didn't want her coming back to Cali with me but she wanted to come. She wanted to see Grey and Henrique. She wants to know her nephew and wants to be with me.
She smiled sadly at her friend, "I want to go Carlos. I've never been to California, at least it's not in the memories I remember. I want to see Hollywood and Beverly Hills. I want to have the chance to meet Chris Evans working in a park."
Alliyah laughed, "He goes to my gym and believe me, Captain America doesn't give him justice."
She chuckled, "Which gym is that cause I might need to work out because of the accident."
I looked at Kalliyah and smile, "You don't need to join a gym, I have one."
"Someone's getting jealous," Alliyah said looking at me with a smirk.
Carlos snorted but remained silent.
Kalliyah only remembered things that happened to her when she was twenty and younger so she doesn't remember what Alliyah and I did. We all came to a decision to let her gain her memory back naturally and hopefully by then she would have forgiven us.
"I don't get jealous but It's Chris Evans, he's like the perfect gentleman."
"You're a perfect gentleman too," Kalliyah added.
I shrug, "I'm not perfect. I've made a lot of mistakes."
"We all make mistakes." Santiago looked at me for a brief second and then at Alliyah. "Sometimes we're given second chances to fix our mistake."
Kalliyah turned to her sister and smile, "You still haven't told me how you met this wise man. He's not really your type but he's perfect for you." Alliyah smiled at her sister. "You better hurry up and marry him."
Santiago wrapped his arms around Alliyah, "I'm not going anywhere."
"Actually you are. We need to get the hell out of this hospital. It's been three days too much." We all laugh at Kalliyah's words.
"I'll get the documents," Alliyah interjected.
"I'll get the wheelchair."
I looked at Carlos waiting to him to say something and when he noticed everyone looking at him he said, "I'll go get your things."
"I'll stay with you until the nurse comes to help you." I added with a smile.
"Great!" she waved everyone out of the room leaving the two of us alone.
"Are you ready to go home?"
She nodded eagerly, "Yes. I can't wait to see Grey again and to meet baby Henrique."
"I can't wait to have you back with me either. It's been a hard few weeks with you in New York so I'm happy to have you back with me."
She smiled, "I'm happy to be back."
