Chapter 24: Chapter 24

Chapter 23

Alex POV

I lift my head to look at the office door that had just been knocked, "Come in,"

My secretary, Lisa walked in and closed the door behind her. "Mr Cater there is a Santiago de Pablo here to see you. He's not on the schedule for today but he insists that he needs to see you. That it's very important."

I rubbed my temples, I wasn't in the mood to be speak to anyone but since it's important, I might as well try, "Okay, send him in."

What was so important anway?

It isn't the norm for me to just let a random stranger who said he had soemthing important talk to me, but for the past few weeks normal isn't the word to describe my actions. Ever since my mother exposed Kalliyah or Alliyah or whatever her name was, I haven't been okay. I've been working non-stop, barely got time to eat much less shave.

Trying to build my business is a good distraction from the constant pain in my chest.

Lisa turned and exit my office and a minute later a man came in followed by a red-head with shades on. She looked awfully familiar but I ignored her and gave my attention to the man.

"Mr Carter, I'm here to speak on the behalf of my fiancée," he said in a tick Spanish accent.

"Interested and confused in what he's going to say I told him to have a seat. Luke and his female compainion took a seat in front of me.

"I'm Santiago de Pablo and this is my fiancée Alliyah Bisson." As soon as he said the last name I tensed up and he noticed. "I'm sorry sir. You probably think she's a bad person because of what she did to Henrique but..."

"Stop," I shouted at him and look at the female beside him. "Take off the shades." The red-head lifted the shades and I sat there shocked.

What the hell was this all about?

Why did she come here?

What happened to her hair?

I stood up from my chair and turn to look at them, "You think you can fool me?" I said and ran my hand through my hair. Why did she come here pretending? "Why are you doing this Kalliyah? Why? Haven't you tormented me enough? Haven't you learnt your lesson?"

"What are you talking about?" she spoke up looking at me confused.

I frowned at her and rolled my eyes, "Oh stop acting. What were you thinking coming here acting like he's your fiancée." I barked.

Santiago stood. "I am her fiancée," he said with conviction.

"Santiago stop, we should go." She blubbered looking at him with sadness.

Such a great actress.

Why didn't I pick this up before?

Santiago's eyes soften as he look at her, the same way mine used to.

I shook my head, she knows excatly how to make a man fall for her.

"No, Ally. We will not go. We're not leaving without my son." I looked at him and frowned.

What the hell are they talking about?

What son?

Henrique?

She looked at him sadly and smile.

I frowned, there is no way Henrique was his child, my father did a dna test and it came back positive. Henrique was my father's child and is my brother.

I ran my hands through my hair. She wouldn't be crazy enough to tell this guy he was the father of a child, would she?

Was she paying him to act?

Because if she was they were both failing.

I laughed at the 'couple', "Henrique is not your son."

Santiago nodded his head, "No he's not my son, biologically but I plan on adopting him you."

I looked at him with raised eyebrows, "Is that so?"

Exactly how smitten was this man?

Santiago nod, "Ally had an affair with your father about a year and a half ago. She got pregnant with Henrique. After a couple of months of taking care of him, she decided to give him up. She thought she couldn't take care of him and wouldn't be a good mother. So she left him here for you to take care of him as his brother. She then moved to Florida to start a new life, to start over. That's where we met. I'm her next-door neighbour. We fell in love and now I'm here so we can get back our son. Ally is sorry for giving him up. She's also very sorry for sleeping with your father. She has changed. She's ready to be a mother, with my help of course."

I looked at them amused. They really planned this out, didn't they?

"So why would you want to move to Florida to start over. This time, let the lady talk, I'm certain she's not dumb."

Santiago snorted but looked to Alliyah/Kalliyah, "Tell him, it's okay."

"I always hurt people especially my twin sister. She hates me." She bent her head.

"Why?" I incurred. If they want to play this game then why not play it with them?

"I slept with her fiancée, his father as well."

I frowned. Just the thought of having someone I care about sleeping with my father erks me but then again, she slept with him too and I still fell for her. I just too dumb to actually see through her lies.

Now her she is again, lying to my face.

"Esta bien," Santiago said softly resting his hand on her shoulders. He lifted his head and looked at me, "She's very sorry for the wrongs that she's committed."

"So, you have a twin sister?" I said playing along.

"Yes, I do."

I nod, "So, what's her name?"

"Her name is Kalliyah."

"Oh, okay. When was the last time you saw your sister?" I asked. I'm really beginning to think that they think I'm this stupid.

"Three years ago. I haven't seen her since the day before her wedding. Well, she never got married. She ran away, I haven't seen or heard from her since. Neither has our parents, she disappeared."

I shook my head and laugh, "Okay, so you really expected me to believe you have a sister?"

"She does," her fiancée butt in.

"Okay, fine. Let me see pictures of you two." Kalliyah never had any proof that they were two of them, just documents stating that he name was Kalliyah but documents can be forged.

"I don't have any pictures of us together," she said causing me to roll my eyes. Of course, she didn't! She doesn't have any pictures because she wasn't a twin.

An imposter is what she is. I can't believe I fell for her.

I was going tell her to get the hell out but Santiago spoke first, "Wait, why don't you show him the two pictures that you always carry in your purse."

"Oh," her face lit up. "I forgot about those." She lifted up her Hermes bag and took out a purse out of it, MK. I watched her with a frown on my face, the Kalliyah I knew couldn't afford Kate Spade much less, Hermes and MK. Where did she get the money from. I looked across at her supposed fiance. By the clean cut of his suit, I could tell it was tailor-made. He was also wearing the most recent Rolex watch. He was wealthy.

Her plan worked.

She found a wealthy man to scam.

She cleared her throat then took out the two pictures and reached out to give them to me. I grabbed them from her hands not wanting to touch her.

I looked down at the first picture, nothing interesting that would identify two persons differently. It was just a picture of two redhead babies. That could be anybody. You could probably find a picture like this on Google or Pinterest.

I placed the first photo down then looked down at the next one.

I swallowed as I stared down at the photo, confusion and a hundred other emotions going through me. The picture showed two teen girls in their graduation uniform. One of the girls had straight hair, she was smiling with tums up and the next one had curly hair and wore a glasses, she was always smiling with tums up. They looked exactly the same except for the glasses and the hair.

I look at the woman sitting in front of me then back at the picture, trying to find out which one she was but it was hard.

Could this picture be real?

The woman in front of me was definitely one of the girls in the picture but which one was she?

I looked back down at the picture then a memory came flashing back in my mind.

I smiled sweetly at her as she pushed her glasses on her nose for the second time since she started reading. I walked over and sat on the couch next to her.

"Hello, four eyes monkey."

She frowned, "I'm not a monkey. Monkeys are ugly. I'm a unicorn."

I laughed at her silliness. "You didn't hear me call you four-eyes but you heard monkey. Women!"

She glared at me with her grey eyes. "I don't really care what you think about my glasses. I still can see without it so I'm not a four-eyes unicorn."

"You can see without it?" I asked with my brows raised.

"Yes, it's a reading glasses not a tested. I just wear to seem cool" She stated with a smirk.

"Oh, but you always have it on."

"Ugh, yes. It also makes me look cute. I've been doing this since high school too, everyone thinks I'm smart just because I wear the glasses." She said.

"But you are smart."

She shrugged her shoulder, "That's debatable."

I shook my head at the memory. I looked at the twin in front me, "Are you the one with the straight hair?"

She nod, "Yes."

I sighed and faced palmed myself. They were telling the truth.

Oh my god, what have I done?

"Is everything okay?" Santiago asked.

I moved my hands from my face and looked at the couple, "Hmm..yeah. How long have you guys been seeing each other?" I asked my voice a little shaky.

"Well, we didn't date or anything of the sort. As I said before we're neighbour's, we just fell for each other after constant flirting." He said with a smile as he looked at her. She smiled back at him. It was clear they were in love, why didn't I see this until now?

I looked at the two and now I started to see what I didn't see when they entered. Alliyah had expensive things, Her dressing and everything else was different. Kalliyah wasn't rich and she had a completely different vibe from her sister.

"So, you've haven't heard or seen your sister in years?" I asked still not completely believing that this woman in front of me might actually be Henrique's real mother.

"Yes, that's what I said. I don't know where she went she just took off with her dog."

"What's the name of her dog?" I asked but I already knew the name.

"Grey, his name is Grey. I was the one who bought him for her. I'm not an animal person and he looked cute so I bought it for her. I can still remember the smile on her face. She really loves him. I wonder if he's still alive. I heard that some dogs can live up to twenty years." She stopped when her fiancé placed his hands on her shoulder and looked at her. She smiled and said sorry. Well, that's one thing they have in common is talking.

"Well, Mr Carter. We came here about Henrique when can I see him? When can we get him back?" Santiago said.

I frowned. Over past months I've grown over-attached to my little brother and the thought of not seeing him when I get home from work scared me a little. It will hard just give him back to the woman who abandoned him when I've already started filing for adoption.

"I don't have him now he's spending time with my parents they are to bring him back next week. So we'll talk soon. You mentioned that you live in Florida, where are you staying?"

"Well, we came late last night, we're staying at a hotel, Pegasus I think the name is." Santiago answered.

"Oh okay well. Since we still have some deep discussion about Henrique before I can hand him over back to the same woman who gave him away. You'll need to stay at my home till then."

I saw emotions came to Alliyah's face. "I was weak then, I'm not like that anymore. I promise, please. I want my baby back. I promise I won't make the same mistake twice."

"Of course, you won't. I'll be here to help you every step of the way." Santiago said looking at her with love in his eyes.

I looked at the couple but I'm still not fully convinced that my baby brother would be a hundred per cent secure with them. I need to know more about them before I make a big decision.

"You're not weak anymore?" she shook her head. "Then you have two weeks to prove it to me."
