Chapter 83: Chapter 83
ALPHA GREYSON (Part 9)
I focused on finding Dylan. I'm not going to let him hurt Amara again. I'm not going to let him touch Amara again. I will go to whatever length to remove him from this world. But every time I fail to find him, I am filled with rage and restraint.
"Someone is betraying you, your Majesty," Elder Raymond warned me when I saw the survivor of the troops. I sent a group to look for Dylan, but they failed like any other squad. It seemed as if someone was watching our movements and calculating our intentions before we could attack. That's when I realized something wasn't right. I knew something was wrong the moment Prince Henry died. I was so preoccupied with Amara these days that I forgot to focus on that part.
"I know," I grumbled. Elder Raymond fixed his gaze on me.
"And do you know who that is?" he wondered. My jaw clenched. I already feel about the Elders, but I'm not sure who I'm thinking of. And the thought of his becoming a traitor enraged me.
But despite the problems… I never thought I could be so happy. I was overjoyed to learn of Amara's pregnancy. I couldn't put into words the feelings that were flooding over me. And it inspires me to finish everything. I want my child to grow up worry-free. I want him or her to grow up in a tranquil environment. I know it was ideal, but it is important and realistic for any father who only wants the best for his children.
"It was Elder Mateo," Elder Raymond said after studying the palace's elders. I clenched my teeth and held the wine flute between my fingers.
"He was an old friend of Dylan's... that's why he's helping him... he was the one who told Dylan that Prince Henry was in the North Snow Kingdom," he stated. Dylan has known Elder Mateo for a long time. How come you didn't get rid of him, Father? I clenched my teeth. I know my father. He is gentle and nice. But I cannot tolerate this.
"Let's pretend that we don't know anything about it, Elder Raymond," I requested. His eyebrows met.
"But..."
"I know he has an accomplice; if we announce now that he is the traitor, his accomplice may flee the palace, causing more chaos throughout my Kingdom," I elaborated. His lips parted as if he didn't anticipate Elder Mateo to have an ally.
I decided to go for a walk around midnight. Amara was sound asleep. Because of her pregnancy, she develops a drowsy head, and I can tell when she is sleeping well. I was walking quietly down the corridor when I came to a halt in front of Miguel's room. When I discovered it wasn't locked, my brow wrinkled. When I was going to unlock it, I heard his footsteps from inside. I instantly went into hiding and concealed my presence. It's my unique skill. In every other situation, I can hide my scent.
I took a look around and noticed Miguel. He was leaving his room. I didn't hesitate anymore. I quietly followed him. I spotted him strolling while holding a paper bag. Where is he going at this kind of hour? I clenched my teeth. Miguel is someone I've known for a long time, yet... I wasn't expecting him to deceive me in this way.
I noticed that we were almost out of the forest of the North Snow Kingdom. But before we could leave, he came to a halt in front of a tree. I hid behind the grass while watching him. He pulled something from his paper bag and discovered it was a bouquet of flowers. As he glanced at the tree, he placed it on the ground. I also saw a stone at the foot of the tree and a cross symbol above it.
I'm not sure what it is... But I should look into it after he's gone. That's why I sat there waiting for him to depart. That's why, when he walked away, I made certain that I was no longer aware of his presence. When I was sure, I approached the tree.
And it's becoming clear to me. It was a graveyard. I focused my attention on the name carved on the stone near the cross.
I read the name, "Shena... Garcia..."
That night, I directed Elder Raymond to look into the woman named Shena Garcia. I'm not sure who she is, but I'm sure she was important to Miguel. Since my hunt for Dylan had been futile, I decided to call it off and prepare for Dylan's likely attack on the palace. I need to pay greater attention to Amara's health. I shouldn't have been so irresponsible, especially given her condition. Right now, I'm protecting not only Amara but also our child.
"Shena Garcia... was an orphan, her parents died due to an epidemic, and since then, she has wandered on the road. I asked her acquaintances and I discovered that she always has a girl with her. Many people remember the girl because she is said to be strangely beautiful. I also looked into details about her relationship with Beta Miguel and discovered that they were probably in a relationship," he explained.
I was reminded of an incident when I and Miguel were walking out of the market when I noticed him looking at a woman with brown hair... There was also a girl with blonde hair with her. Was that Shena?
"What happened then? Why did she die?" I demanded, seeing the look of surprise on Elder Raymond's face.
"She died?" the shock is evident on his face. I scowled. Isn't that part of the information that he collected?
"What exactly do you mean?" I sought out.
"From what I understand, no one claimed she died. All I found out was that Shena Garcia was allegedly kidnapped by an Omega and sold as a slave in exchange for the freedom of the young woman she was with," I was silent when he stated that.
"Did you look into the Omega who took her?" I asked, and Elder Raymond nodded.
"Yes... because I was curious about what happened to Shena Garcia after that. Then...I found out that the Omega who took her was already dead... they said that... the Omega died in a very tragic way. The authorities found his lifeless body floating into the river with his heart missing... and his eyes being gauged. And that's all the information I gathered. No one knows where Shena Garcia is now because nothing else was found in Omega's house but his messy home," Elder Raymond indicated.
As a thought ran through my head, I placed my palm on the table. If Shena Garcia had been kidnapped by that Omega, Miguel may have tried to help her. Then... is it possible that he was the one who murdered that, Omega?
But how does this relate to him betraying me? In a rage, my jaw tightened. No matter what his justifications are, I will never forgive him. I want the whole truth. I treated him as if he were my friend... I didn't expect him to betray me and wreck everything.
And as I dug deeper for the truth, everything became clearer. Elder Raymond arrived in my office after a week of surreptitiously examining Miguel's life before he arrived at the palace.
"Miguel's real name is... Phillip... and he is Dylan's son, your Majesty..." It was like a bomb exploded in me. That was unexpected. I never imagined he'd be Dylan's son. "He killed the Ramirez family and disguised himself as Miguel Ramirez...,” said Elder Raymond.
That's why I was so angry at Miguel. But I must wait for the appropriate moment. I want to murder them all. And I want to be certain. I want it all to happen in front of Dylan. I want him to witness his defeat.
However, then... I was so preoccupied with the problems that I missed Amara's actions.
"This is bad... everyone thinks Luna Amara is cheating on you, your Majesty!" Elder Raymond wailed as I considered everything problematically. This is one of Elder Mateo and Miguel's evil plans, I know. They wish for me to lose control. They want to have power over me. It's a good thing they still think I'm naïve about their deceptive behavior. But... It's bad for Amara's health. She is distrustful of me. She couldn't put her trust in me. It stings a little, but I should understand her. She's pregnant... Perhaps it was her hormones... or does she have no faith in me?
I don't know.
I don't understand her actions either. I saw her once near Miguel's room for no apparent reason! What on earth is she thinking? She's pregnant! Miguel is a traitor! What if something were to happen to her? However, then... she didn't know. She had no idea Miguel was a traitor. As much as I want to tell her, I'm afraid it could affect her pregnancy.
