Chapter 74: Chapter 74

Chapter 72

I could see how badly that affected Elder Samuel. Alpha Greyson drew me in behind him. He stood in front of them as if he was marking his territory. He seems like he wants them to know who is in power now.

"You do realize you have a family to care for, right?" Alpha Greyson's voice was dreadful, and I could feel everyone's terror. Elder Samuel's jaw dropped open. He gulped hard and, without saying anything, knelt on the ground in front of Alpha Greyson.

"Forgive me, your majesty! The foolishness I displayed will not be repeated!" Elder Samuel knelt on the ground, almost kissing the floor. A memory flashed through my mind. It was the time when I saw a woman begging in front of Alpha Greyson to spare her son's life. I know Alpha Greyson is not the same cold-hearted Alpha I met years ago. He's changed and for the better.

I couldn't stop holding Alpha Greyson by his arm. He gave me a serious look. I know Elder Samuel tried to dispute his power, but I think it's enough. Elder Samuel is regretful now, and I have a feeling he won't do it again.

Alpha Greyson gently took my hand in his. He gave me a brief smile before returning his attention to Elder Samuel, who was still kneeling in front of us.

"I'll spare your life for the time being, but it won't be the same if you challenge me again; I suggest you stay where you are and mind your own business if you don't want to end up like Mateo, your dear friend," Alpha Greyson said. Elder Samuel remained bent and silent. Alpha Greyson had a peek around. The officials lowered their heads in reverence for him.

"This meeting has been adjourned, but expect another tomorrow," Alpha Greyson said as he reached for my hand to go. The palace guards came after us. I exhale a sigh of relief. I'm relieved that everything went smoothly. The throne of Alpha Greyson is secure. And I already explained my side. Hopefully, everything went fine now.

We ate dinner together in our usual spot. Every time the servants saw me, I could feel their disbelief. They probably couldn't believe I was still alive. I even observed Yna and Gina seem surprised when they spotted me. That's why I told Alpha Greyson that I'd only talk to Yna and Gina.

“Y-Your Majesty!" they both said in unison as I walked into their room. In two years, they both got even better.

"We still can't believe you're alive, your Majesty!" Yna said as she embraced me fiercely. I looked at Gina and extended my arms to let her join the hug. She smiled so broadly that her eyes welled up with tears. I grinned as tears streamed down my cheeks. They are one of the people I forgot about throughout those two years, and I'm glad I remember them now.

I gave them my story after that heartfelt hug. They couldn't believe what had happened to me. I couldn't stop crying in front of them when I told them about my anguish after my child died until I learned what happened to Shena, and Shena being Miguel's mate.

"That was the biggest plot twist I didn't see coming," Gina said. Even I couldn't believe it, so I took a deep breath.

"Does Mrs. Clea know?" Yna asked. And then I remembered Mrs. Clea. I still haven't asked Alpha Greyson about Mrs. Clea. I miss her so much. She almost died because of me. I put her life in danger because of my hasty decisions back then. It was also the reason I lost my child. I swallowed hard as something pricked inside my heart.

"I still haven't heard anything about her..." I confessed. Yna and Gina stood silent. I had a look at them. "Do you know where she is right now?" I inquired.

"Yes, we know. After the incident, Alpha Greyson grants her freedom to live outside the palace. Mrs. Clea couldn't... walk anymore because of what happened. The most damaged part by torturing her was her leg. Now... she's living in this address," Gina replied, handing me a piece of paper. I agreed and looked at the address. I'll definitely pay Mrs. Clea a visit one of these days.

That night ended up with me cuddling Alpha Greyson. We had just finished making love when I told him about my plans for the next day.

"You want to pay a visit to Mrs. Clea?" he confirmed, and I nodded and glanced up at him.

"I know where she's staying, Gina gave me an address," I explained, hoping he will comply with my request. I just want to see Mrs. Clea because she has helped me so much in the past, and I want to know how she is doing.

"I know too. I was the one who gave her a house," Alpha Greyson stated, and I came to a halt. He what? I gazed at him, and he chuckled at my surprise.

"You don't believe me?" he asks, amusement in his eyes.

"You're bluffing," I responded, still stunned by what he said. Alpha Greyson giving someone a house? Really?

"Why? Am I cruel enough that giving someone a house is such an impossible thing for me to do?" he probed. I blinked again, biting my bottom lip, glanced away, and nodded slowly.

"That's very offensive, my lovely wife," he grinned as he hugged me tightly, and I burst out laughing.

"However, is it true? You're the one who gave her a place to live?" I inquired once again, and he sighed as if it were a problem that his wife couldn't believe his benevolence, which made me giggle.

"Yes. I also hired a caretaker for her because she couldn't move around anymore. I know she's important to you, Amara and anyone important to you is also important to me..." he explained. As tears welled up in my eyes, I bit my bottom lip. Because of what he said, I felt as though something had pierced my heart and soul.

"T-Thank you..." I stammered, my voice trembling from the overload of emotions he was unleashing on me. He took hold of my chin and lifted it to meet his gaze. I placed my hands on his chiseled chest. His blue eyes were fixed on me as if I were the only person he could see in this room.

"Thank you... for coming back to me..." he whispered, causing my tears to flow. Damn! I feel like my heart is aching even though I'm really happy. I had no idea that being so happy could be this painful.

“I love you… Alpha Greyson… I truly do. I wouldn't know what to do if you hadn't entered my life. I love you so much that I feel selfish, yet... I can't help it... I want to spend my life with you... I wanted to live because of you..." I sobbed. There is pain in my heart but it is lighter now. Yesterday's wounds are slowly healing because of Alpha Greyson's love, and I couldn't want anything more than to be with him.

"You have no idea how painful it was to watch you fall off that cliff..." his voice trembled. My chest hurt considerably more now. I feel like he's letting me see the pain he felt while I was gone.

"... I almost thought about following you in the afterlife if you were truly dead... but... I know you're alive and I didn't lose hope because I know you'll come back to me," he whispered so softly that my heart almost cracked. My head was buried in his chest. His warmth is so enticing that I wish I could stay here forever.

"I love you..." he muttered passionately, gently, and sweetly against my ears as he began to kiss me.

"Without you in my life, it's like a life wasted... and you coming back to me is like reaching stars, Amara..." he whispered and I began to cry. I raised my head and kissed his lips. He came to a halt and looked at me. He fixed his gaze on the tears streaming down my cheeks. I noticed how his eyes softened. Even if fate robs me of my memories, I will never forget his gorgeous blue eyes.

"I want to make more memories with you..." my voice faltered. He smiled and wiped away my tears.

"I want more memories with you, too..." he replied, holding my jaw and kissing me deeply, passionately, and gently. I closed my eyes as I engraved this precious time between us in my memories.
