Chapter 43: Chapter 43
Chapter 41
As Alpha Greyson vanished from my sight, I couldn't stop crying. I was confronted by Beta Miguel, who was now preventing me from following Alpha Greyson.
“Why don't you just let me follow him? I want to help, Beta Miguel!" I spat as tears streamed down my cheeks.
"Your Majesty, this is the Alpha King's wish. He'll fight better if he knows you're safe," he said as I shook my head.
“In that case… even if it's just you! Follow Alpha Greyson! Help him, Beta Miguel!" I nearly begged him. He clenched his fists, as if he, too, was straining to make a decision.
"The Alpha King strictly ordered me to keep an eye on you..." he struggled to say. I grabbed his arm and begged. I can't be calm knowing Alpha Greyson is fighting alone there. I know his loyal servants are his assistants, but I won't be satisfied until Beta Miguel helped him!
"I'm begging you, Beta Miguel..." I'd even kneel in front of him if it meant he'd follow Alpha Greyson and help him! He sighed deeply and nodded slowly.
"Fine but... promise me you'll stay here," he surrendered. I quickly nodded.
"All right," I said. He nodded and entirely transformed himself. His wolf has brown fur and a large look, similar to Alpha Greyson's.
I was getting restless in my hiding spot, especially after five minutes. The woodland is quiet. The cold of the deep night gnaws at me as well. In the gloomy woodland, the round moon in the sky serves as a beacon.
I'm at a loss for words. I try to relax, but it's difficult to do so when you know someone you care about is in danger. I had just finished pondering when I heard a rustling near my place. It's dark in there, so even if I attempt to look at it, I can't see anything.
I became tense. But I must be strong. I must attempt to remain calm. I'm not going to panic because Alpha Greyson is fighting the enemies at full power right now.
I stepped in that direction after hearing another rustle. Every step I take causes my heart rate to rise. Whatever it is, I have to fight it with all my power.
I was about to turn into my wolf when a rabbit leaped out of the bushes in front of me. My eyes widened slightly as I clutched my chest in shock. Damn! I nearly died of a heart attack! But that was only a bunny!
I need to relax. But before I could calm down, I was startled by a voice from behind me.
"It's you again," remarked a familiar voice. I swiftly turned around and found the familiar man standing there. I blinked two times. Dylan? The mid-40s man I saw in the pond!
"D-Dylan?" I stammered. He laughed. "I'm glad you remember me," he added, smiling. What brings him here? Why is he suddenly appearing?
"W-What exactly are you doing here?" I wondered. Is he aware that a hunting ceremony is taking place? Or should I say a fight?
"Joining the hunting ceremony. You must be here to support the Alpha King, right? You're Queen Luna," he stated. So, he recognized me. I locked my gaze on him. Who exactly is this man? Why does he always appear in front of me?
"But I didn't see you earlier in the introductory program," I pointed out.
"Alpha Greyson would be surprised if he saw me," he said jokingly. My brows come together. If Alpha Greyson sees this guy, he'll be startled? That suggests Alpha Greyson is familiar with him! But why would Alpha Greyson be shocked to see him?
"Why? Who are you really?" I wondered. His lips curved into an amused grin.
"Let's just say that I started everything," he admitted. He starts it all? He sat on a tree branch and stared up at me. I loathe this man's presence more and more with each passing second. I have the impression... he is a risk I must avoid!
"What do you mean by that?" I plucked up the nerve to ask. He drew a cigarette and lit it. The smoke blended into the air.
"I was the heir of the South White Pack, Luna Amara," he smirked. My heart pounded with nervousness. The South White Pack's heir. When we went to the South White Pack, I suddenly remembered Elder Agnes' statements.
“Since then, no one knows where he is. His name was Dylan. He was a good son and perfect for the throne of being the Alpha of the South White Pack. I also know that Alpha King Greyson's father, Alpha King Erick, is Dylan's friend. He may not have accepted his father's death, especially when he begged Alpha King Erick to help him,"
My lips parted as I glanced at the man in front of me. Dylan... his name was familiar to me since I had heard it before from Elder Agnes!
Dylan... the son of South White Pack's former Alpha, but he vanished after his father died! Fear made my body shake. I can tell he's dangerous just by looking at him. He harbors resentment for Alpha Greyson's father and the brother of the ruler of Rema's kingdom. So, I know he can't possibly be here just to sit and talk to me. He must have a motive for showing up in front of me! "Just by your eyes, I know you already know me. I heard you and the Alpha King visited my home pack, perhaps you already heard about me?" he lit his cigarettes, and I gulped hard as I smelled the horrible smell of it.
"Everything you've heard about me is true. My father died because of the Rema people. I seek help from my so-called friends, but the most important thing to them is to stabilize their pathetic friendship between their fucking kingdoms," I could feel the venom in every word he said.
I need to figure out how to get away from him! It's not good anymore! He's a threat!
"And I returned for vengeance..." he whispered evilly. I clenched my teeth.
"What more vengeance do you want? Prince Henry and Alpha King Erick are no longer in this world! Why are you wasting your time!" I couldn't stop myself.
He raised an eyebrow and peered at me, which made me uneasy. Would he hurt me because I replied to him?
"You're right. When I abandoned the South White Pack and refused to be the successor to the throne as the future Alpha, I devised my own strategy. I went after all the Rogues in this world. I did everything I could to get them to follow me and make me their leader. I kidnapped Alpha King Greyson and made sure the Rema Kingdom would be blamed to incite resentment and hate among the kingdoms. To round up my plot, I kidnapped the Rema kingdom princess and pretended that the North Snow kingdom did it... but..." he stepped on the cigarette and flung it away.
"That young Greyson gets in the way of my plans. He quickly realized that the people who tortured him were not from the Rema kingdom. Because of that pathetic Greyson, my attempt to kill the princess was thwarted!" I see the rage in his eyes.
I suffocated. The princess didn't die, then? Does this imply that Prince Henry's daughter is still alive?
"But I admire Alpha Greyson's intelligence; I couldn't believe he figured it out so early; he was only a prince at the time, but... he could already see my evil thoughts," he chuckled.
"I immediately rejoiced because, even though I failed to murder Henry's beloved daughter, Henry died protecting his worthless friend. They're so pathetic," he shook his head and laughed. He's crazy!
"And the following year, there was a war between the North Snow kingdom and Rema, which resulted in Erick's death. That was even better... satisfying. But... that's not enough, Luna Amara..." his tone darkened, and I began to back away as he approached me. I need to run! As far as I can!
"I'm going to finish Henry and Erick's clan, and I can only do that if I kill their children... and I'm lucky because I don't have to suffer..." My brow furrowed. As I backed away from him, I almost tripped.
"Because you are the first one, I will kill... Princess Harper... the lost princess of Rema kingdom, daughter of Prince Henry," he added, his gaze fixed on me. What is he on about?!
"Wait... I'm not—"
"Yes, you are, Luna Amara... you may not remember everything... but Alpha Greyson saved you thirteen years ago... he hid you inside the walls of the North Snow kingdom to protect you from me. He gave you to a childless couple and made you believe they were your parents. But Alpha Greyson didn't expect my attack. I killed the people who raised you and you luckily survived again. I lost my trace to you and Alpha Greyson also thought you were dead without knowing that you are just walking around the street of North Snow Kingdom…”
My knees shook. Is that true? No... Am I truly the... lost princess of Rema kingdom and... I clenched my eyes firmly and suddenly remembered a man's face. He was looking at me lovingly, and I could feel his love and care for me. He kissed my forehead as I said the words "Father." My eyes welled up with tears. It has to be Prince Henry... He was my biological father. The next thing I remembered was being blissfully playing in the Rema kingdom's woodland when I spotted the wounded man.
When I saw him, my heart broke. Alpha Greyson was there! It was the period when the Rogues tortured him and flung him on the lands of Rema! I was the one who spotted Alpha Greyson! I quietly helped him and treated his injuries. But when Alpha Greyson awoke, he was furious at me. He was so enraged at me that he fled without saying anything. I was perplexed as a young girl, yet I couldn't forget him. After a month... Unknown men led me inside a carriage. I was crying and asking for my father, but they forced me to smell something that put me to sleep.
I awoke sleepily. A white-furred wolf saved me from being eaten alive by the rogues. I fled because I was terrified. Especially because I could sense him commanding me to flee. However, it was snowing fiercely. I used to dream about this scene! I thought it was a dream, but it actually happened in my life! While trying to flee, a gigantic white-furred wolf loomed in front of me. Then I lost consciousness when thunder struck the entire area. The following memories are of the parents I recognized. After that occurred, my recollections faded. But it wasn't long until the Rogues murdered them, leaving me as the sole survivor.
The investigators took me in but they had malicious thoughts about me so I ran away and became homeless on the road and then... I ran into Shena and Mrs. Vikki.
My memories returned.
Dylan was staring at me with only hostile eyes.
"This is when your life will end, Luna Amara..." he murmured evilly.
