Chapter 41: Chapter 41
Chapter 39
As I watched Alpha Greyson sleep soundly by my side, my delight was limitless. While we were naked beneath the sheets, he was clutching me so tightly. I still can't believe it's finally happening. It's as though I once dreamed about him, but now I'm holding him and don't want to lose him by my side. I really like him a lot.
That's why lying next to him now and being kissed like this surprises me. I locked my gaze on his flawless features. His thick brows, deep eyes, pointed nose, and somewhat thin lips. I could stare at him all night.
"Don't you know that staring at the king for a long period of time is against palace protocol?" I was startled when he opened his eyes and stared at me with his blue eyes. I mustered a smile.
"Why? Are you going to forbid me?" I questioned, smiling. He drew me closer to him as if the distance between us wasn't enough for him. I looked up to meet our gaze, and my heart was racing.
"I'm gonna give you an exemption," he whispered huskily, and I finally grinned and held him tightly.
"Did you eat dinner yet?" he asked after a while, and I looked at the huge wall clock in the room and saw that it was eleven o'clock at night, I shook my head in response.
"I'll bring our dinner," he remarked as he rose. I let him stand up. I openly witnessed his nakedness. When I noticed his nakedness, I bit my bottom lip. He is truly masculine. I'm no longer surprised that practically every woman in the kingdom desires to be his queen. I have no idea why the Moon Goddess chose me as her mate.
He changed into shorts and walked straight to the door to direct the waiting guards who were present outside our room. I stood up to dress. I donned a white polo shirt owned by Alpha Greyson because that was the only thing I could find. In that order, Alpha Greyson caught up with me. His clothing is too big for me so even if I don't have undergarments, it's definitely not obvious.
When I turned around, Alpha Greyson was staring at me. I sat up upright.
"What?" I'll inquire. He lifted his brow and approached me. I was surprised when he kissed me on the lips. A kiss that seeps into my bones. I soon reciprocated his kisses till we both passed out of breath.
"Seeing you wearing my things makes me fucking horny," he said sensually. My cheeks became flushed and I poked him humorously. I shoved him aside and walked directly to the sofa to sit.
"Stop it, Alpha Greyson. We're going to eat now, remember?" I reminded him that we wouldn't be able to eat dinner later if we started kissing like this again. Alpha Greyson is insatiable. He sat next to me and quickly wrapped his arms around my small waist. He sniffed my neck and kissed it gently. I swallowed hard as I felt the sensation I only feel when I am with him.
"After dinner, then." He negotiates. I laughed and kissed his cheek. I had no idea Alpha Greyson had such a sweet side. I can't help but admire it, damn!
"Don't be too excited. I'm with you for a lifetime, and we have a lot of time together," I joked. He raised his eyes to mine. I turned to face him. The space between our faces is too close. Because of his proximity, our noses almost rubbed.
"But I miss you every day. Why? Will you refrain me?" he questioned, his eyebrows lifted, and I laughed. Seriously? Refrain him?
"Don't try to act cute on me right now," I chukled.
"Because we'll be busy tomorrow, we need to make the most of this night, Amara." He said. I frowned. We're going to get busy tomorrow?
"Why?" I inquired, puzzled. He kissed me on the lips. I'm becoming a little dizzy from his kiss!
"I can't believe you forgot about it. It's hunting season. That's tomorrow night," he added. Damn! Why did I forget about it?
It's time to go hunting! Perhaps that's what Alpha Greyson was doing with Alpha Alfred earlier, and that's why he couldn't come home with me!
"I'm sorry... in that case... can I help with the hunting ceremony preparations?" I asked.
"It's all done; everything is ready for tomorrow night; I just wanted to let you know," he added. I nodded and grew serious. "What is it?" I inquired. He inhaled deeply. "Hunting ceremony... is not just a simple hunting ceremony, Amara. The ceremony will be divided into two groups, one of the councilors and other palace officials, and the other of me and my loyal soldiers. If you think this is just a simple ceremony where we have to catch a lamb, you are mistaken. The hunting ceremony often ends in bloody clashes, and councilors and other officials frequently betray me."
"But... why would they do such a thing?" I was perplexed because Alpha Greyson is the Alpha king of this kingdom; why would they defy their king?
"Obviously, because they didn't like my leadership; or... the rogues are inspiring them, plotting treason alongside them."
I can't believe Alpha Greyson has so many enemies. I used to believe that nothing is difficult for you since you are a king of a nation. I was mistaken. The moment you sit on the throne, pain, and tragedy begin, just like they did with Alpha Greyson's parents.
"Is that the reason...you're so enraged with the Rogues that you're willing to risk your men's lives to exterminate them?" l ask. He went silent. He took my hair from my face and tucked it behind my ear.
"That's just one of my reasons, Amara; I have many reasons why I don't like them," he said emphatically, although he was attempting to remain calm because he was speaking to me. I comforted him by holding his arm. He fixed his gaze on my hand resting on his arm.
"Just like you... I have monsters from my past, a trauma." He said.
"And you remember them..." I commented. He gave a nod. I moved in closer to him. It was painful for me to learn this from him. Knowing that he has trauma from his past makes me want to immediately take away all of the anguish that he has endured. Because, unlike me, I am aware that he is still suffering from his monsters. While I have no memory of the past.
He began, "I was kidnapped when I was young..." When he said that, my lips parted. I once heard that in a restaurant while fleeing Alpha Greyson. I didn't believe everything I heard was true.
"Everyone thought Rema's wolves kidnapped me, which started the misunderstanding between the two kingdoms that were once best friends."
Elder Agnes told me a story once when we went to the South White Pack. Alpha Greyson's father, Alpha King Erick, and the Rema kingdom's prince, Prince Henry, are good friends.
"I also thought at first that those who took me and tortured me were Rema kingdom people because that's when I regained consciousness after three days of torturing me," I could sense the strain in his body as he recalled everything. My chest tightens as I consider the suffering, he may have endured at the hands of those who abducted him.
"However, as my investigation progressed, I discovered that it wasn't the Rema who kidnapped me, but the Rogues,"
"How did you know it wasn't Rema's people who kidnapped you?" I ask. How did he say all that? What if those wolves were really from Rema?
"A month after my kidnapping, the princess of Rema kingdom vanished. The Rema kingdom believed the North Snow kingdom kidnapped their princess, but I was certain that none of my men could do it. All of my men are being watched, and they are unable to do anything that will not reach me. The two kingdoms were in disarray one day after the princess went missing. Because of this, the Rema kingdom attempted to attack the North Snow kingdom, but the Rogues attacked the North Snow kingdom first. Prince Henry of Rema kingdom, the father of the lost princess, died protecting my father in that battle,"
So, in that case... they had been set up. The Rogues did this on purpose to generate panic, and they utilized it to launch an attack on the North Snow kingdom.
"Then... perhaps... their target is..."
Alpha Greyson finished what I was saying, "Alpha King Erick, my father."
I can't believe it.
"That's why I'm convinced the Rogues Packs are the culprits. The princess was never found after Prince Henry died. As a result, the animosity between the two kingdoms intensified, and the upheaval continues to this day. The Rema kingdom's rage against the North Snow kingdom grew as a result of what happened. Their prince died while protecting an old friend, my father, and they suspect us of kidnapping their princess. A battle resumed, and that's where my parents died," he explained.
I remember that battle because Shena and I were hiding in a cave to avoid the war caused by Rema kingdom and North Snow kingdom at the time, and it was also there that we learned Alpha King and Queen Luna, Alpha Greyson's parents, had died in battle, which is why Alpha Greyson took over the throne at such a young age.
"Then... you don't despise the Rema kingdom despite the fact that they killed your parents?" I asked.
"Their hatred is understandable. But the Rogues incited that hatred, so the Rogues have to compensate for it."
"Then... why did you seem angry with me when you first saw me because I looked like the Rema people?" I asked. "I told you Rema hates us, so it was natural for me to be defensive during those times. Even if I don't blame them and harbor anger towards them, I still have to be careful with them," he explained. I simply nodded.
I continued to think. In that situation, tomorrow's hunting ceremony is a battle to eliminate the enemy within the palace. I need to remain vigilant and prepared to help Alpha Greyson.
