Chapter 38: Chapter 38
Chapter 36
Luna Vienna treated my wound while telling me about her and Alpha Alfred. I can't help but be fascinated by their love story because they seem to enjoy each other right away. And I could sense how intense their love is. Luna Vienna's smiles show how much she adores Alpha Alfred, and her stories show how much Alpha Alfred adores her.
"Your love is very admiring, Luna Vienna," I couldn't help but reply. She gave me a friendly smile. We're just conversing now because she finished cleansing my wound.
"Thank you," he said gleefully, "but you and Alpha Greyson are both young, and your love is definitely more colorful." My smile had vanished from my lips. I looked down at my wound, which was slowly healing. My wounds are mending faster now that I've awakened my wolf than they were when I was younger.
"I hope so," I replied.
I can't help but wonder if we'll ever get there. I'm not sure what will happen to either of us after this. First, I'd like to set aside my affection for Alpha Greyson. I want to concentrate on locating Shena.
A female attendant came to us and said, "Luna Vienna... you are being called outside." Luna Vienna looked at me. "I'll leave you here for now, but I'll be back," she added. I simply nodded. I couldn't stop glancing at the sky outside while sitting alone. It's almost time for bed. Alpha Greyson and I will undoubtedly go soon. I shouldn't squander this opportunity. I looked around to see if anyone was watching me, and when I saw there wasn't, I rose up to leave.
I took a big breath and exited the rest house through the back entrance. My foot is still a little uncomfortable from the previous fall, but I can walk normally. Behind the rest house, I saw the houses where the Omegas stay. It's a good thing no one saw me leave.
I kept walking and noticed children cheerfully playing on the road. I noticed some Omegas watching the children. The old man who took Shena was not there. I continued walking till I came to a halt when I observed a woman playing with a toddler nearby. Her back was facing me, yet her figure bears a striking resemblance to Shena's. I've also not seen Shena in about three years, so I'm not sure. But why do I feel as though I'm getting closer to her?
I approached the woman slowly. The children in front of her have turned to look at me.
"Excuse me?" I inquired. As the girl slowly turned around to face me, my heart was racing. I swallowed hard when she finally faced me. I sighed when I saw a different face. She isn't Shena.
"How can I help you?" the lady inquired. I smiled and shook my head.
"Nothing. I just mistook you... for someone I know," I explained. The woman smiled and returned to playing with the children. I walked around but didn't see Shena's shadow. I was stunned when I saw a small pond not far from the Omegas' houses and saw that everyone was busy, especially Alpha Greyson. It's a good thing Alpha Greyson hasn't noticed my absence yet.
I scooped up the water with my palm; it was cool and fresh, and I couldn't help but enjoy it. I was about to drink it when someone spoke from behind me.
"What is a beautiful young lady doing in this place?" a man in a crimson cloak inquired. I locked my gaze on him. Based on his appearance, the elderly man appears to be in his mid-50s. I got to my feet and faced him.
"I was just appreciating the fresh water," I explained. The man nodded and proceeded to the pond to scoop some water and pour it. I kept an eye on him. Is he also an Omega? Maybe he lives here in the Eastern Snow Pack.
"The Eastern Snow Pack is known for having a lot of water even in the winter," he stated as he looked at his reflection in the pond. I nodded in agreement because he was right. That was in a book I discovered in the palace library. According to what I've read, only the Eastern Snow Pack can keep water flowing even in the dead of winter. As a result, it is also the largest importer of palace water.
"Yes, I heard that, and that's why the other packs in the North Snow Kingdom rely on it," I stated. He smiled as he turned to face me.
"I could tell you're a smart woman," he said.
"I just read that information in a book," I indicated. He gave a nod.
"Then... you're perhaps a nobility? You could read, and that's nobility," he clarified. What am I going to say? That I'm not truly noble? Do I simply know how to read? What if he questions how I learned when I was an orphan?
"You don't have to respond to that, and by the way, my name is Dylan," he said as he extended his hand to me. I swiftly took his hand in mine.
"I'm Amara," I introduced myself. He gave a nod. I was about to say something more when I heard some footsteps behind us. I was puzzled to see Dylan missing when I looked back.
“Dylan?" I called.
"Who's Dylan?" I almost shrieked when I saw Alpha Greyson. Is he the one coming earlier?
"Nothing. Are you looking for me?" I ask his brows meeting and his jaw tightening.
"What on earth are you doing here? I told you to stay at the rest house!" He was irritated.
"I-I'm sorry! I got bored so—"
"Even so! You should follow my words, Amara!" he is enraged now, I take a long breath, knowing that even if I dispute with him, I will lose.
"I'm sorry!" I apologize. He glared at me. He held my arm and pulled me back to the village. There were few people on the road because the night had completely engulfed the sky. Alpha Greyson and I entered a room. This is not the rest house where I stayed earlier.
Alpha Greyson let go of my arm and turned to face me. His eyes are enraged. I'm not sure why. Why is he so upset with me? I didn't do anything wrong! Is he upset because I didn't listen to what he said? I had no idea it was such a big thing to him!
"I said I'm sorry! I won't do that again—"
"Of course, you will not! If you attempt, I'll punish you!" he spits out. I inhaled deeply. I'm not sure why he's so upset with me. I collected myself and fixed my gaze on him.
"I'm not going to try; I'm not sure why you're so angry—"
"You have no idea? Amara, try to think about it. You are my Queen Luna, and anything awful can happen to you at any time. Do you get what I'm saying?"
I was stunned by what he said. I stared at him. Is he... worried about me?
"I'm sorry. I know... I didn't think about it," I said. He squeezed his eyes shut. He appears agitated and annoyed. And when he opened his eyes, my heart almost jumped out of my chest when he suddenly pulled my waist and pinned me down on his body. What surprised me, even more was when I felt his lips on mine.
