Chapter 19: Chapter 19

Andrew wake up just a minute before the sun is shining and he saw Mrs. Meyers sipping coffee and she offer Andrew her favorite coffee and hand him a cup of it.

“How is your sleep”? –Mrs. Meyers happily ask. Did you sleep well?

“I sleep better” –he answer and he sits besides Mrs. Meyers. Where is Mr. Meyers?

“He work early on the shack” –and she pointed outside and they immediately run outside to see

“You’re late son. I was almost finish”—said Mr. Meyers and Andrew immediately drink all his coffee and run to Mr. Meyers and help him.

“I’m sorry Mr. Meyers. I wake up late”—Andrew said while running towards to Mr. Meyers

“No. It’s okay. You’re not late, I was just to early to start and I couldn’t stop until I make it”. –Mr. Meyers said.

“Bring me my screw driver”—said Mr. Meyers and Andrew immediately hand over the screw driver that he saw beside him.

And they both happy working and repairing the small shack and Mrs. Meyers saw them like a father and son and she leave the two of them working and she go to her garden and start planting. After an hour, she saw the two of them laughing together and taking some rest and she continue planting and Andrew run towards her and starts helping her.

“What are you doing Andrew”? “Why don’t you taking a rest, you looked tired”. –Mrs. Meyers concerned.

“I want to help you Ma’am. I promise to Justine that I will always help both of you” –he said and he continue digging soil and watering the plants.

“Thank you. You are such a good man “–and they both chuckles

“So, what do want to eat for lunch”? –ask Mrs. Meyers

“Anything you cook ma’am I will absolutely love to eat it”. –Mrs. Meyers laugh so loud and Mr. Meyers heard it confused.

“What’s the laughing ha”?

“Andrew is very good man. He said, anything I cook he will absolutely eat it. So I will start cooking anything for Andrew “–and Mrs. Meyers standing up and walk straight to the kitchen and start cooking.

Meanwhile Andrew and Mr. Meyers continue the repairs of the small shack. Mr. Meyers hammering the left side while Andrew was holding and the noise of the sound of the hammer was screaming in the air and they continue working until the last part of the woods was nailed on the wall. They almost finish but Mr. Meyers decided to take a break again and drink some water. At lunch time, Mrs. Meyers cook fried chicken with creamy pasta and they happily eat together like a family and just right before they finish, Justine called and Mr. Meyers answer her.

“Hello my daughter. Have you take your lunch”?

“Yes dad. I’m done. What about you guys”?

“We’re almost done. Your mom cooked fried chicken and creamy pasta and I think Andrew likes it” –Mr. Meyers joyfully said.

“Wow, that is great. I can’t wait to get home and eat with you guys.”

“Don’t worry, your mom will cook your favorite foods just get home. How is your work”? –he ask

“We’re still busy but I think tomorrow we’re not that so busy but still I can’t get home” –she explain

The call was ended right before they finish eating and Andrew immediately wash the dishes and Mrs. Meyers couldn’t stop him so she let him wash by himself after he finished Mr. Meyers invite him to watch basketball game in the TV. The game was close until the last minute but the home team still manage to win the game from free throw line and Mr. Meyers don’t like the call, he thought the referee over call the foul but Andrew never said anything because he think it’s the best way. They get back to work and continue hammering until the shack was form to a mini castle that made from woods. It was round and big enough to fill the four people inside but it has chair inside that makes more relaxing to sit because of the cool air breezing from the forest near the house. It was the perfect place to relax and calm yourself from the toxic world and Mr. Meyers built it because he wants to give Justine a place to relax from her work. After the hard working day they finally finish.

“Wow, that is amazing”—wowed Mrs. Meyers couldn’t believe to what she saw

“This is beautiful Mr. Meyers. I’m sure Justine will love it.”

“Thank you son, I did it for her but I think there’s still missing”—said Mr. Meyers thinking what is missing

“I think you need to put some light sir “–Andrew added

“Yeah, I think you’re right son.” Mr. Meyers immediately run to the basement and find some lights.

It takes a long minutes after he went outside with the lights and he was so eager to lighten up after he finish putting all the lights. Andrew record the moment that the lights were on and the smile in their faces added more sparkle at night.

The night was filled with lights around the house of Mr. and Mrs. Meyers and Andrew was really feel blessed of witnessing this kind of moment and he was so eager to tell it to Justine but he choose not to tell. He wants to surprise Justine when she got home. They have a dinner inside of the house but the lights outside was shining brightly inside and it was part of the great dinner of the three of them. And before they went to sleep, Andrew came out and stare at the beautiful lights outside and imagine the moment that he will walk Justine in the aisle.

“It was a great view Mr. Meyers.”

“Indeed son but I think it will more greater if someone make a proposal there”—and Mr. Meyers laughing and Andrew was thinking before he give a smile.

The days past and Andrew spend it with Mr. and Mrs. Meyers. Sometimes he played Chess with Mr. Meyers and sometimes he played basketball in the backyard with the old man and most of the time they talking about life—about being married and Andrew learned so many things with him. How to handle the misunderstanding, the state of being in love every single day, how to adjust living in marriage life and the things that he wants to know and understand before getting married and Andrew was so happy knowing these things with Mr. Meyers—the right person that understand it well. Friday morning and everyone was awake and Andrew heard that Mrs. Meyers talking to Justine and she whisper to the two of them that Justine was coming home afternoon.

“ okay honey, I understand. I will cook your favorite foods right now”. Mrs. Meyers excitedly said and Justine hang up the call after.

“ she will be home afternoon and we are going to surprise her”. She said after the call

“ okay, let’s think how we gonna do it”? Mr. Meyers said seriously.

While eating they give some ideas how to surprise but most of their ideas wasn’t the good one until Andrew suggest something.

“ how about, someone is waiting her outside of the village while the other was here preparing for the surprise”.

“ so, what kind of surprise”? –Mr. Meyers ask.

“ after she go down from the car, we’re going to cover her eyes and guide her up to the shack and we slowly put down the cover while we slowly lighten up the lights and we are going to have a dinner outside near the shack”. –he strongly suggest and Mr. and Mrs. Meyers we’re looking at him very serious and Andrew think that they wouldn’t like it so he continue eating but Mrs. Meyers shouted something.

“ that was great idea. And I think we need to do it perfectly”. She joyfully said. “ okay, after this I will cook her favorite foods”.

“okay” –they all agreed.

Mrs. Meyers immediately run to grocery store and buy the ingredients for Justine’s favorite food while Mr. Meyers and Andrew stay at the house and preparing for Justine to come home. They make sure that the lights is not broken and they make sure that Justine will like it. After the long hours, this is the perfect time. Five minutes before the sun set, Justine arrive at their house while Andrew was outside waiting for her to come.

“ welcome home my beautiful angel”. Said Andrew after she come out of the car and she was confused because she never see her parents.

“ where’s my parents”? She ask. “ what is going on”?

“ You will see them but you should close your eyes first and I will walk with you towards them”.

And Justine couldn’t do anything but to follow what Andrew was saying. She slowly close her eyes and Andrew cover her eyes with his handkerchief and slowly walk towards the shack where her parents was excitedly waiting for her and Andrew hold her hands. While the surroundings is silent and it’s starting to getting dark, Andrew slowly getting down the cover in her eyes and Mr. Meyers slowly lit the lights and her eyes saw the beautiful lights and amaze to what she just saw. Her parents was besides the lights waiting for her to come and she run fast towards them and hug them.

“ surprise”. Her parents shouted and she almost cry.

“ how did you guys do it? This is beautiful. It’s like Christmas. She said surprisingly

“ well, it’s your dad who made this—she was pointing the lights. He repair the shack and turned it like this and Andrew, your loving boyfriend give an idea to put some lights and your father decorate it for you”.

“ Thank you Dad for the surprise, I was so happy seeing you guys again. I missed you all”. She emotionally said. “ and of course Andrew, thank you for helping my parents and staying with them”.

“ don’t worry about it, your parents was the best parents”. He said and everyone was flattered.

“ no more crying. Said Mr. Meyers. Let’s start our party together”. And they all agreed.

And Mrs. Meyers slice the toasted turkey and give it to everyone and they started eating in front of the beautiful lights. Mr. Meyers open the wine and make a toast to everyone.

“ tonight—he said loudly. “ tonight is one of the best night in family. My wife and I are very happy that our beloved daughter Justine come home after a hard working week in her company and of course her boyfriend was with us, staying with me and my wife and we are very happy that he is here, so cheers for another night like this and more to come. Cheers everybody”.

“ cheers” –everyone shouted.

Andrew spend the night with Justine and they never stop talking about things that really happened this past days and Mr. and Mrs. Meyers notice that they really match for each other because the way they look at each other seems like there’s another spark between them and they couldn’t help but feel happy for the two of them.

“ They’re seems like a great couple, don’t you think”? Mrs. Meyers said while staring at them secretly

“ I don’t know but I pray that they will be together just like us”. And they both laughing

“ how is your work”? Ask Andrew and he sit closer to Justine

“ It was great, I did manage my work and I was very happy that I actually made it”.

And Andrew lean Justine’s head into him to feel her better.

“ now that you are here, I will make you feel better my beautiful angel”. Justine feel a bit of shy after hearing that but Andrew comfort her more than ever. Andrew then decide to fall asleep in the living room after the dinner with them and he fall asleep immediately because of the great day.

And the night was filled with laughter and happiness that all of them enjoyed.

The sun shines right after Andrew wakes up, he look outside and see Mrs. Meyers cleaning from last night’s party. He straightaway to help and start cleaning.

“ how is your sleep, Andrew”? Mrs. Meyers concerned.

“ I had a great sleep, Mrs. Meyers. I was really tired and exhausted last night so, I sleep really well.” He explained.

“ that’s great. I thought you couldn’t sleep because you only sleep at the sofa”.

“ no. I used to sleep in our sofa bed back in the Philippines and I can sleep really well. I can sleep in any part of the house as long as it’s quite and cold.”

Mrs. Meyers laugh at him for making a funny gestures and Andrew likes it. After a minute, Mr. Meyers approach them and offer Andrew some coffee and Mrs. Meyers continue to clean so as Andrew but Mr. Meyers ask Alicia if Justine is awake but she didn’t know and she then ask Andrew to wake her up because they have a plan to attend the wedding of her cousins. Andrew walk straight to Justine’s room with a glass of coffee in his hand, he knock three times but she never respond so he decided to go inside. Justine was sleeping with a cover in her eyes and she is hugging wilo on her side. He calmly call her name but she was too sleepy, he then touch her shoulder and try to shake her up while shouting her name.

“ Justine, your mom said that the wedding is getting started. You should wake up now”. He said but she never wake up. He try to get the cover in her eyes and touch her face with the soft cotton to tickle her and she immediately open her beautiful eyes and see Andrew on her side.

“ What are you doing”?

“ waking you up because your mom said”. And he continue tickling her even she try to hide her face.

“ What time is it? It’s still early, right? Can I have another minute”?

“ The wedding is getting started”. He shouted

“ What wedding”? She said confusingly

“ Your cousin. Today is the wedding of your cousin”. And she remember and immediately stand up and walk awkwardly to the bathroom to take a shower.

“ Okay, tell mom I’ll be there in a minute”. She shouted so that Andrew can hear and understand.

“ Okay”. He said.
