Chapter 8: Chapter 8
Emily makes sure that the driver doesn't tell Alpha Hughes about the visit. Goddess knows he'll be in as much trouble as me. The pack house is in view in about twenty minutes of driving. When we get out of the town car Emily reminds me not to tell Alpha Hughes. Then I remember my question for her. "Do you know anyone named Michael?"
Ouch.
Someone pushes me against a wall. I can tell by the scent it's Alpha Hughes. "Samantha, what do you know about Michael?" His deep voice presses against my neck. "U-Um, I don't know anything. He j-just told me to t-tell you he-he says hello." I choke out. Alpha Hughes stares me in the eyes. "What did you tell him?" I don't answer. "WHAT DID YOU TELL HIM?" He yells. "I didn't tell him anything, he read my thoughts."
"What the hell were you thinking?"
For a long time I try to string the right words together. But miserably fail and end up with a mess of words. "I-I, uh, um, well, u-uh-" Alpha Hughes stops my stuttering. "Go to my room. Now!" And I due as told.
There are vents in the room. The vents are connected to the ones in Alpha Hughes's office. I can hear everything. "Michael has been reaching out to her." Alpha Hughes sounds furious. "I know, but there's nothing you can do." Dean says. "Nothing I can do? This is my mate! I can't just let some sociopath come in and try and kill her!" Kill me? I can't listen anymore.
I need to distract myself. I know from past experiences that I can't leave the room. What can I do? I could shower. Yeah, that's a good idea! I grab a pair of cropped leggings and a loose white t-shirt. It's only about one o'clock, there really isn't much I can do. So after my shower, I'll have to stall myself.
The shower's nice, and I start thinking about everything. About how last week I was with my family and now, I'm here. About how Genelia must be doing, I bet she's happy. If I could wish for anything in the world, it would to be happy. Emily makes me forget about Alpha Hughes, but as soon as we're done, the power's gone. "Get out of the damn shower!" The water immediately turns ice cold. A small shriek finds it's way out of my mouth.
I hurry as fast as I can to get my hairy dry, and my clothes on. I settle for a sloppy ponytail at the nape of my neck. Alpha Hughes is in a pair of black joggers with a black Nike shirt. "Took you long enough." He rolls his emerald eyes at me. "S-Sorry." I apologize.
Alpha Hughes explains to me that in order to be Luna I have to have some kind of training. So right now, he is going to teach me some minor fighting skills. "First, I'm going to have to teach you how to punch." He holds my hands in front of his eyes. "You have weak hands." Alpha Hughes says to himself. I should take it personally right?
He comes back with these pads. They're like punching pads, so when you punch the pads it doesn't hurt either person. "Okay, so you're going to punch these. Hit them as hard as you can. If your fists start to bleed tell me and we'll stop," he pauses, "the exercise is fast okay? You'll hit left, right, then you'll run one hundred paces and come back. Do not disappoint me."
I do as he says and this part goes well. At least for me it does. The entire time Alpha Hughes has this agitated look. I start to feel pain in my fists. It's like two bees stinging my hands. "C-Can we move on?" I look up at him. "Sure, we have kicking next."
The training goes by slowly and quietly. Very few words are spoken. I don't have a problem with it, I just think it's weird that we have nothing to talk about. He doesn't try to ask me about my family, and my life back home. It seems that he doesn't care. Why would he? He's the Devil Alpha.
I don't bring up his anger side often. Before I met him, I felt like it was an exaggeration. But after knowing him these past few days I realize it's an understatement. I was having lunch.
By the time I finish my sandwich I feel full. And ready for a nap.
"I see you told." The infamous Michael says. "W-Who are y-you?" I question. He caresses my right cheek with his left hand softly. "I'm Michael." He smiles. I already know that!
"Oh, you want who I am, not what my name is. Well, you won't need to know that because I know everything about you." The smile slowly turns into an ominous grin.
"W-What do you want from me?" My stuttering strengthens. "It is simple. I want you dead." Michael lifts me from my chair and throws me against a wall. I whimper in pain. "And if you refuse to die," he kicks my nose instantly breaking it, "I'll have to make you beg for it."
I wake up with pain in my side, and my nose. I reach up to touch my nose and hiss at the pain. It feels like twenty knives piercing through my nose. I crawl out of the bed and walk over to the bathroom to check for bruising.
My nose was a pale purple color, and my left side was black, purple and blue. I put my hand on my cheek and start to think about what to do. As soon as my hand comes into contact with my cheek I instantly pull it away. My right cheek had a red handprint on it. I touch my cheek and the events from my dream reappear.
None of my makeup is able to hide the bruises. I hear a knock on my door and stare at my face. I decide to take the makeup off because there isn't a point. I walk over to the door. "Samantha!" Felix calls. I open the door. "What do you need?" I ask. "What happened to your face?" He starts to examine me and I look down. "N-Nothing." I lie. It doesn't work since obviously something happened. "I'm taking you to Jack."
"There's no need for that! See? I'm okay. Ow, that hurt. I'm pretty sure he's really busy right now and we probably shouldn't disturb him." I ramble. Philip grab my wrists and pulls me down the hallway. He ignores all of my complaints.
Alpha Hughes is furious. How am I supposed to tell him that a man is beating me in my sleep? That sounds crazy! He'd never believe me. "What the hell happened?" He wonders nonchalantly. I look down. Dean and Philip were standing tall behind me. "Did she tell you anything?" He looks over to Philip. "No." He states simply. Alpha Hughes shakes his head and me and ushers him and Dean to leave.
He stares at me for a while. No words coming from anyone. Silence fills the room. I feel on edge. When silence comes anyone can say anything. They just have to take a chance. "I-It's Michael." I whisper. Alpha Hughes's head shoots up. "How?" He scoots closer to me. "He's b-been reaching out to my in my dreams." I explain. "Then how did he do this to you?" He gestures to my face. "It happened in the d-dream." Alpha Hughes nods.
I am explained that right now there isn't anything I can do about the dreams. I'll have to keep seeing Michael whenever he pleases. "He said he wants me dead." I blurt out. Philip and Dean quit arguing.
"He wants to get revenge."
"By killing Samantha?"
"Did you not kill his mate?"
"That was three years ago! I thought he'd be dead by now."
"Well, obviously he isn't."
"Thank you, Caption Obvious!"
"What do we do about her dreams?"
"We could take her to a witch."
"Those witches are creepy as hell, Philip."
"Get over it, Dean!"
"Shut up! Let's just see if Elizabeth is willing to help us."
"You didn't give her of a chance last time, Jack."
Their whispers are loud. As if by habit I eavesdrop. It's only of the only ways (for me) to ever get information. I'm never told anything around here. All of a sudden the whispering stops. "We're taking you to witch. Dean stay here and keep the pack in check. When I come back and this pack is crazed. It's your life." Alpha Hughes easily threatens. Dean nods and walks out of his Alpha's office.
The drive to Elizabeth's coven was long. Witches tend to stay in covens. Covens are like packs but they're for witches and the connection isn't as strong. There the Elders rule everything. And to be frank, the Elders only care about having a strong coven so they don't care who they kill off and long as their coven is strong.
