Chapter 67: Chapter 67
**Cassie's Pov**
Right now, I am at a loss for words due to my shock. When someone knocked on the door, I believed that it was one of my brothers, but to my astonishment, it was none other than my boss, and Angel was also there! Okay, the meal is served, and everything is ready to go when someone knocked on the door. Angel was also there.
"I miss you!" Derek gave me an awkwardly tight hug. My first assumption was that he must not be a typical human being with strength like that. In addition to that, he is sniffing me like crazy, which is really odd behavior for a human to exhibit. If he were a werewolf, perhaps I'd be able to comprehend him better.
"Alright, I see that you don't like him. Now go away. Angel continued to speak in a hostile tone as she thanked her captor for bringing her to this location. I wish I could see her again!
"What in the devil were you going on about? The response that Derek gave was, "I will stay here." They weren't squabbling when Dax stepped out of the kitchen, but now they are.
"The food is ready," he announced with a hint of reticence. My two visitors give the impression that they have just seen a ghost for the very first time.
"What the hell is your brother doing around here?" My boss inquired about it with her Secretary.
"Well, my brother needs someone to accompany him, so I asked a friend of mine to go with him," you might say. Cassie was in agreement, and it appears like they are making progress. Angel's remarks clearly have more than one meaning, as evidenced by her behavior.
"Dax is suffering from nightmares, and in addition to that, he is going through some difficult situations. I am being helpful to him by allowing him to stay here, and it appears that this is very helpful to him. But why am I defending myself in this context?
"I take it he is not sleeping in the bedroom, is that correct?" He inquired while exhibiting an air of disapproval in his tone.
"The living room has become our makeshift bed for the night." When he grunts, we come dangerously close to jumping. What the devil is this! That is not something that can be accomplished by a human being.
It would be helpful if you could explain this, Cassie. The more I hear like stuff, the less satisfied I become."
I would like to shove some realities in his face. As though he had no business knowing about my belongings and stuff like that. What I am doing, as well as what I should or should not be doing. Those are not matters that are under his purview; they go beyond the purview of a secretary and her supervisor.
On the other hand, I had the sensation of being submissive in the face of his fury. I am aware that he is frustrated since he admitted to me that he likes me, and now another man is posing a threat to him and our relationship.
I wanted to ask him why he was picking on me so much. Why should it be me out of everyone else? I do not stand out from other people in terms of my looks or my personality. If we're talking about humans, I'd say I'm a fairly typical type of woman.
I really hope that my supervisor will put an end to this already. It is clear to me that he is not joking and that he intends to pursue a relationship with me. I have no idea why this is happening, nor do I know why it is happening.
We are currently situated in the cramped kitchen of my apartment. We are seated at a relatively intimate table. There is an uncomfortable silence at this location, and I can sense the tension rising between the two men.
I am successful in starting a conversation in order to brighten everyone's spirits. Angel is a very courageous woman, but it appears that she is currently terrified for her life in this situation.
Art is the kind of guy who stays out of the spotlight. Even though he has a larger body and a more masculine face, he is the only one who keeps a low profile, speaks in a more subdued tone, and maintains an innocent appearance. However, I can see him glaring at my boss right now.
The same as Derek, who despises my visitor at this point.
If they are able to get a knife at this very moment, I do not want to venture a bet as to what will occur next.
After that incredibly terrible supper, it is my responsibility to look after Charlie and put him to bed. Angel left her flat and returned home. She then excused herself. She mentioned that the jet lag is making her feel a little lightheaded, and he expressed a desire to obtain adequate rest before the forthcoming event so that he can help her feel better.
As I walked into the living room, I saw these two men attempting to rip each other's necks apart, and it almost gave me a heart attack. They are going at it like cats and dogs in complete silence, and I have no idea why! Are humans typically thus aggressive against one another?
"Could someone please explain what is going on around here?" I suggested getting involved in the conflict between the two of them. I may be smaller, but my strength surpasses their force, and as a result, I am able to serve as the referee for today's match.
When Derek continued, "That guy, I hate it that he's here," that made me even more angry than I already was.
"Is that all?" And you, Dax? What are you doing at the moment? The use of violence would not solve any problems!" He is a professor, and I can imagine him behaving in this manner.
I am successful in convincing them to sit on the couch. I will communicate with them.
"I like you, I do not know when and why, but I do," Dax suddenly confessed, and I could see my boss making a ball with his fist, getting ready to engage in another battle. "I like you," Dax said. "I do not know when and why."
"Art, you have the same level of confusion as my boss."
They exclaimed together, "No, we are not!" in unison.
I gave them a look of disapproval and shook my head in disagreement. "I am not currently in a relationship because I am concentrating all of my energy on figuring out how to be a single mother." Despite the fact that my husband is no longer with me, I will always love him. To tell you the truth, I want to find a physician and ask them to watch the two of you interact. What exactly is the matter with your eyes? Why would you desire someone like me when I have nothing remarkable about myself?
"Art, I am aware that I am assisting you in overcoming your anxiety and nightmare, and even though I am doing so, I am still willing to assist you because it is a decent thing to do. However, this does not imply that I am a wonderful person to assist or that you have feelings for me.
"You, sir, are the one in charge here. You understand better than anyone else that it is immoral for you to develop feelings for me that go beyond our friendship and our professional connection.
I need some tranquility tonight, so I politely declined their offer to continue to remain here after this point. If this keeps up, things are only going to become worse. I have no choice but to try something else.
I need to look for new employment and enroll my son in a different school as soon as possible. I am able to begin afresh now that I have sufficient funds.
