Chapter 49: Chapter 49
**Cassie’s Pov**
"I just hope you are not traumatized by what you saw. It is my fault that you watch such a damn sight." I can see and feel her anger right now. It is obvious in his pen, which is now broken in half.
"I guess I am not. Don't bother getting angry over such trivial things. You informed me in advance that he is the type of boss, and it lessens the impact, I guess." On the other hand, I should be fine with it.
Werewolves are the kind of creatures who boldly show their love and affection. Love and loyalty are things that matter to us. Maybe I shrieked in surprise at that time because it was the wrong place and time for them to do such a thing.
But it does not change the fact that I felt a strange pain as I saw him doing that thing.
"I will just give him a good beating." "Now, I can foresee him hiding because he knows that I will hunt him down," Angel said in her macho voice.
"Let's forget it and do our work." "It is not worth it to waste our time with that kind of topic."
She nodded and agreed with what I said. I am here to forget and to survive that thing, my broken heart, and my soul. And not to add additional confusion to my life.
I am now reading documents and papers that the marketing department asked for review and revision, if ever. It is a good thing that I took business when I was in college.
Because I am too focused on my work and Angel is out for some errands that she needs to finish this day, I forgot to take my lunch, and it is past one p.m.
I massaged my temple, and now I can feel my belly protesting in hunger.
"You did not take your lunch break," he said. My boss popped out of nowhere, which made me jump scared. I should lessen my strong caffeine intake.
"I am sorry if I surprised you," he said in a worried manner.
I shook my head and gave him a reassuring smile. "I am fine; it is just that I will be thankful if you will not do that in the future." Naturally, I am sensitive to my surroundings, but I am so distracted by several things that I think my senses are getting weaker.
"Of course. Back on what I am saying, can you accompany me for lunch?" he asked me. He's asking me to go out with him!
Now that he is so near me. I can see how that woman flocks to him like birds and butterflies. Mr. Derek Ross has those beautiful gray eyes, a sharp nose, kissable lips, a well-built body, is rich, and is beyond gorgeous. He is so gorgeous that even I can forget how to breathe for a moment.
I honestly want to reject him because I want to distance myself from my boss. I heard that rumors are poison, especially in a workplace like this.
I only want to associate myself with him as a secretary and a boss; other than that, I want nothing else.
"I am on a diet." I gave him that lame excuse, I know.
His eyebrows met, and it looks like he is dissatisfied with what he heard from me. "You look thin and pale. I am not judging your body, but I am also concerned about you. You are my secretary. And if you work with an empty stomach, it will affect your job, and I will not be pleased with that fact."
My mouth was wide open in shock for a second, but I regained my dignity! How many times should I be embarrassed?
"Okay," I answered. I can feel that there is no way in hell that he will let go of me easily. Rather than wasting both of our time, I agreed with him.
We went straight to the elevator and went to the parking lot. I thought he would treat me inside the company cafeteria because the food there is pretty decent, but it seems like he wants me to eat with him outside.
And I think that is a good decision. Well, it will be strange if employees see their boss with his secretary alone and eating outside. That is a good headline for a gossip magazine.
"Relax, you can trust me," he said, and it instantly made me feel like he was a trusted person.
I nodded and smiled at him. But I still texted Angel. If she finds out that I am gone outside, she will probably freak out.
"Who are you texting? I am just a little bit curious," he said, sounding a bit suspicious.
"Ah, I sent a text message to Angel." "I do not want to make her worried because she will see me out of the office."
It seems like we finally reached our destination as we stopped in a spacious parking lot, but it seems like we are not leaving this car any sooner.
Mr. Ross is busy scratching the back of his head, and I can see his cheeks getting red.
"Well, speaking of that brutal woman, I got a good uppercut from her, and I guess I deserve that thing to happen. I should not make you see that thing. I am your boss, and on top of that, you are a new employee. I hope you are not mad about that thing. And if you felt awkward because of that, tell me anything to make it up to you."
I was taken aback by what he said. He is right that he should apologize. It is not a good example that he showed me his side. I believe in professionalism.
"Let's forget that thing. But I hope you can lock the door next time. I can't appreciate the fact that I will see a live show in the future."
He looked more flustered as I said those words to him. "That would not happen again!"
I cackled at the fact that his pitch was getting higher like he was truly embarrassed.
We got out of the car as soon as we discussed a few matters. He is also constantly asking me if I am fine in my workplace or if there is something or someone that is bothering me.
"All is fine. I love my workplace; they are easy to get along with, and I think I will grow more."
Honestly, I can't see Mr. Ross as a boss right now. It feels like he is someone I have known for a very long time. It is not like I am complaining; it is just weird. I never felt this way for others.
If I do not know Mr. Ross, maybe I will mistake him for a normal guy, not a man with fame and money who can do anything in this society.
"Are you okay, Cassie?" he snapped at me.
I came back to reality and gave him a reassuring smile. "I am just fine, Mr. Ross."
