Chapter 39: Chapter 39
**Cassie"s POV**
It felt like Deja Vu when I saw the chaotic scene happening outside. I do not know how it happens. It does happen so fast that in a blink of an eye, the barrier that should protect this place is slowly collapsing, and a hoard of rogues coming from the north is marching into this place.
This place will be hopeless.
I gulped and almost got panicky, but I remembered that this was not the right time for me to do that. I have no right to fight inside my mind; I should stay focused no matter what, or the cost will be unbearable.
"Son, do you know that underground facility? Go there; you have to." I said this to my son, who looks as confused as if he does not know what is happening outside.
"Why Mom?"
"Just listen to me; hurry up."
I carry Marion and run as fast as I can. I slowly reach the basement of the packing house. Two years ago, this was my project. Some of our pack members here in our community look like they think I am such a foolish Luna who wasted the budget of this territory just to create a hidden place.
But I said that there is nothing wrong with taking a measure. Especially since the barrier is not forever and my dream looks unbearable.
We evacuated women and children, while men and other capable women had to fight with us.
"Mom," said my son, who looks like he wants to stop me.
"Listen, I have to go, and I have to fight outside. Stay here; you are safe here, my son." I almost cry because of the pain and whatever else is happening inside my brain. But I have to be brave.
I looked at Rea and said that she should look for my son. She nodded, and I slowly walked until I reached the outside. They lock the door to the hidden underground path.
I walk outside, and all I can see is the entire dream that has bothered me for the past six years.
My heart sank in pain as I saw a lifeless body lying on the floor. Pack warriors are fighting for our lives. I cannot describe how bloody this war was.
I saw my father and brother Tom running to me. They look worried, and their bodies are soaked with blood.
"Why are you here? You have to hide in the underground! It is not safe here." My father looks tired from fighting.
I took the spear from a fallen pack warrior. I looked fierce and clenched my jaw.
"I cannot stand waiting for nothing. I can fight too." My life is meaningless if I just watch countless lives die because of this tragic happening.
I did not dare listen to my dad and brother. I will apologize after this battle, but for now, I have to put my body in line. Because if no one will protect us, I should protect this land.
I charged the nearby enemy and stabbed his heart. The fight began to get bloodier. I can only hear the bodies falling to the ground. The crashing body, the growl of pain and agony
I cannot count how many rogues I have killed, and I am still fighting, and I cannot imagine how I can catch my breath while I am in the middle of the fight.
At least I can see the light. I can see that the number of rogues is decreasing. But still, the fight did not end easily.
And I do not know if our goddess Luna is helping us, but we saw the sky darken because of the eclipse. Now that we can feel the presence of the moon, we can shift into our wolf form.
The battle became more favorable for us. Because of this, we can see the lighter side. I am hoping that we can end this war faster than we expected.
But while I am catching my breath, I am stabbed in the back, and I cannot help but kneel on the ground. I can see numerous rogues running around my place, and they are aiming to attack me. Like I am just their single target to attack.
I was about to fall when someone helped me. I saw my friend fighting for my place. He is soaked in blood and looks like he is raged. Like he is blinded by anger and fighting against a hoard of enemies.
I was about to shout because of a rogue sneaking behind him, but it is still late.
"No!" I shouted in pain as I saw my husband shield me. I cannot feel anything at this point like I am numbed, but the pain suddenly flooded my nerves. And now I can only feel the pain.
I suddenly felt stronger. I transformed into my werewolf form and massacred the remaining enemies. I can only feel and hear the silent battle cry; there are now enemies.
But when I came back to my senses, I ran to my husband and tried to carry him. But he stopped me.
I cannot help but cry as I see his heart ripped off. "No, you have to live," I begged our goddess to save him, to save us. But she did nothing but watch us die cruelly!
"You have to see our son! We need to watch him grow old, but we will make it through! Just hold on the line; our goddess is merciful; she will probably save you."
He shook his head and smiled more weakly. "I am so sorry if I have to break my promise. I would rather die than watch die."
"Then you are unfair! If you will die, what is the purpose of your life now?" I asked him. He cannot die now! He can't leave us alone this way. We have to growl.
"Our son needs you; he needs your guide."
"He needs us."
He slowly closes his eyes. "I am so sleepy."
Until his eyes turn lifeless. I cannot make any sound. My husband, my mate, is dead.
"Ah!" I shouted in pain, and the rain suddenly poured. I felt like our connection had suddenly broken. Like a string suddenly weakened.
I can only feel nothing but pain. Just pain that swallows me entirely.
I was slowly drowned by the darkness until I felt nothing.
